Chapter Three

Jude’s POV The door clicked shut and I was left there, leaning against the wall sighing in relief to get rid of that girl. She was like a fly I wasn’t allowed to swat. I was just glad to be rid of her. Even if it meant feeding her to my s*x fiend brother. I stared off into a daze through the hall and noticed Alice shifting in her picture frame. Angrily, I walked over and shook it so she fell over off her chair. "You keep quiet or I'll throw you in the fire place," I growled at her. Her frightened eyes stared back into mine but was quickly torn away when screams came from the other side of the door. I shot back to the door and rested my hand on handle, debating on going in and ripping Mark off her. As much as I hated Mark, I hated her even more. So, I turned and darted down the hall. Her screams seemed to follow me even though I was far from the room. I didn't stop until I was back in my own room hiding behind the door. Reid looked up at me from his gaming chair. “Taking care of your girl?” He joked. I kicked him out of the chair and sat on my bed. Reid laughed as he got back up. "Don't take your hate out on me. She belongs to you." "She does not belong to me. She's just another stupid human who gets Mark off my back," I growled. "You gave her to Mark? You're dad is going to be pissed.” "I don’t give a f**k what my dad say. The only reason she's still alive is because of him. If she is mine, why can't I do what I want with her?" "It might have something to do with the prophecy. You know that thing that holds your future?" I growled into my pillow. If there was one thing I hated more than that human girl, it was being the king's son. Ever since I was a little boy all I have heard was this prophecy about a young vampire boy falling in love with a human girl. It was usually against our nature to fall for such creatures but every one hundred years or something it happens and there's no stopping it. Well I was going to stop it. Humans are nasty things and there's no way I was going to be with one of them. They grow old and have to shower to stay clean. Unlike vampires who are naturally perfect. I shifted on my bed and peeked from the pillow to look at the picture hanging above my head. It was of the young boy in the prophecy with the human girl. She wore a short red dress with a red flower in her hair while he wore a nice suit. I hated how the boy looked so much like me. It angered me. Reid didn't even flinch when I jumped up suddenly and threw the picture across the room. It shattered against the brick wall and I fell back down to my bed to stare up at the ceiling. I felt empty inside and besides the guns blaring on the game Reid played, it was too quiet in here. I jumped to my feet again and headed to the door. "Gong to find Mary Ann?" Reid asked over his shoulder. "Yeah. I'll be back later. Try not to trash my room too much," I said before slamming the door shut behind me. Mary was my girl and she was a vampire. If there was someone who puts me in a good mood it was her. I slowed my pace a bit as I passed Mark's room again. It was silent on the other side but I knew he wasn't done with her. The silence gave me a chance to slip by without hearing her scream. "Bastard better not leave any marks. I'll break her legs off if she gets me in trouble," I whispered to myself. I entered the kitchen where Mary stood at the stove in nothing but a long t-shirt and underwear. She danced to the radio as she cooked herself something to eat. She was abnormal to the rest of us. Usually, vampires didn't eat human food unless its bloody and raw. She ate anything and everything because she, unlike me, loved the human race. She adored their fragile bodies and the exotic kind of foods they eat that keeps them healthy. She was born vampire so she didn't have to go through the years of hell and transforming like most vampires have. I snuck up behind her and wrapped my arms around her small hips. She let out a small scream that sent thrills throughout my body. "Hey, Jubie!" She laughed. I let her spin around in my arms so she could press her lips to mine. She had flour all over her arms and shirt and it got all over me as she pressed herself closer to me. When she pulled back, she spun around to continue rolling dough on the flour covered counter. "What the hell are you making?" I asked, jumping up to sit on the clean counter next to her. "Cookies. I've always wanted to try peanut butter cookies.” Her voice was so sweet I wanted to taste her lips again. "Have you ever tried peanut butter and jelly sandwiches?" Her face screwed up in disgust. "It's no better, trust me." She glared up at me but smiled her sweet smile. "Only because you dislike humans. I think they're rather...interesting," She said. Her face lit up when she talked about them. I didn't understand what was so great about them. Everyone thought it was just my father that kept me from killing the slaves but with Mary's obsession with them, she begged me not to hurt them. "So, is that her?" I stared at her as she started cutting the dough. She's known from the very beginning about the prophecy and has a very good, and strange, acceptance about it. She's actually pushed me into it. I didn’t know if it was her obsession over them or that she has to face the fact that we wouldn't be together forever but there was no way I was leaving this goddess for some poor, weak human girl. "It doesn't really matter," I said. I jumped off the counter and pulled her into my arms. "Because I'm with you and you're about to see how much I love you right here in the kitchen." She leaned her head back as I leaned in to kiss her so I left kisses on her neck. "Stop it! I'm trying to make cookies!" She squealed. Her laughter rang in my ears. It was the most sweet, beautiful sound I’ve ever heard. "Well, now we're about to make sweet love in your cookies. Maybe I'll eat them then.” I picked her up by her thighs and set her on the dough. She didn't fight when I pressed my lips against hers. A smile crossed her lips between our kiss. I loved it when she did that. I forced my tongue in her mouth and let it play with hers. My hands explored her body and ached to take her panties off. Every touch from her made me forget the small human I left in Mark's room. If I had a choice, Mary would be my prophecy and that’s how it was going to be. ** The loud knock on my door snapped me out of thought. Without waiting for my reply, Jordana busted in looking irritated. "You're dad wants to see you." I just glared at her, waiting for her to leave. She rolled her eyes and left as quick as she came. Jordana annoyed me and the way she cared for the slaves as if they were more than pets sickened me. I shifted on my bed, my hands behind my head, and sighed that I had to get out of my comfort zone. The last thing I wanted to do was to listen to my father’s rants and orders. Mary had left after our moment in the kitchen. She had some errands to run in town so I was feeling a bit lonely. I sighed against the silence and decided to go see what my father wanted. The hallway was dark like always. It has been hours since I left the human with Mark and I figured he was done with her by now. I decided to stop by and take a peek in her room. The door creaked open slowly and I saw a lump under the covers of her bed. Her small head poked out and lay on the pillow, her hair sprawled everywhere. In a way, she reminded me of Mary. Her hair was the same length and curled the same way, and her body curved in the right places. She was a beautiful young woman. There might have been a chance if she was a vampire. But she wasn’t. And I didn’t want her. I backed out of her room, slowly closing the door, and made my way to my father’s office. I stopped before entering when I heard voices on the other side. "How is he doing with the girl?" The unfamiliar voice asked. "He's still getting use to it. I'm not sure if he's ready to let go yet," my father replied. "I really hope he realizes who he is before its too late. This has been a legacy for thousands of years and if he rejects her he will destroy that. There is no other way." "We can only pray," Dad paused. "Come in, Jude." I sighed and walked in. The elder stood there next to dad. They must have known I was there. No one spoke for the longest time and I wondered if they had found out I gave the human to Mark. "Hey, young Jude," the elder greeted me. I just nodded to him and glanced at my father. "What do you want, father?" I asked, a little more forceful than I had meant it. "How is Amabell? Did you get to know her a little better?" I groaned and looked away from him. My hands slipped in my pockets. "Not really. She said she was tired so I let her go to bed.” I glanced back, hoping he fell for my lie. He didn't argue. He just sighed and leaned against his desk. "Well, you'll have all the time tomorrow. The market is in town tomorrow, why don't you take her to it? It's the perfect time to talk," he said. "Can't. I have plans," I lied. It might have been a lie but I could easily make plans with Mary. "Cancel them. Put some effort into this, Jude. If after a week and you still feel this way, you don't have to be with her. I don't want to force you into this but you have to realize this is your destiny." "Destiny? Forcing me to be with a human? A plus parenting, dad." With that, I turned and stormed from the room. The walk back to my room was unpleasant. A few pictures of my ancestors were knocked to the floor and the halls were filled with shrills as others ran from their frame. There was a low chuckle at the end of the hall and I turned on my heels to see Mark, shirtless, and leaning against his door frame with a cigarette in his mouth. "Dad pissing you off again? You really don't want that girl, do you?" I glared at him. "What's wrong lil bro? You never wondered what it was like to f**k a human?" "You can keep her! f**k this prophecy bullshit!" I yelled. He shook his head at me. He didn't really care about the prophecy, seeing as he's next for the thrown. He just slept with the slaves and waited for his turn in the big chair. And, he was really f*****g annoying. "You know where I'll be," he said and turned back into his room. I made my way back to my room where Mary sat on my bed waiting for me. I was happy to see her. Her presence always put me in a better mood. I fell back onto my bed and threw my arm over my eyes. "What's wrong, babe?" She asked, reaching over and laying on my chest. "My dad wants me to take her out tomorrow. I don't even want to f*****g see her.” She sighed into my chest. "Give it a shot, for me. You might actually like her if you get to know her.” As much as I loved her, she really irritated me with the "love for humans" crap. "I don't want to like her." "Well, you are going to try. You're not going to hurt her. Show her a good time and make her feel welcomed. She's scared.” "Good," I whispered. She punched me hard in the chest. I laughed and turned to stare into her beautiful sunset orange eyes. They were filled with love but I couldn't tell if there was more for me or that human. She was willing to give me to a human girl, leaving her behind. Well, I wasn't willing. "Please," She begged. "Do it for me." I stared into her eyes for the longest time. I would do anything to please Mary, but I wasn't sure if I could do this.
