Amabell’s POV
The pain between my legs woke me in the early morning. I wanted to cry out in pain but I was afraid if Jude heard me he might kill me. Vampires didn't sleep but they did like their resting time and I didn't want to take any chances of disturbing him. I didn't know where his room was located but I had a feeling it was close.
I groaned and sat up in my bed. Sweat dripped down my forehead, making me throw the covers off my legs to stare down at my wounds. Even though Jude told him not to leave marks, I don't think he could help it. He told me he's never slept with a virgin human, which made me wonder how many humans he did this too. I didn’t know if I was afraid of him or not.
Was I still under his power?
I threw my feet to the floor and stretched my arms above my head. I didn't feel like myself today. It was my second day as a vampire slave yet they haven't put me to work yet. Were they even going to? Jake crossed my mind and tears started welling up. Was he even okay? Was he going to be a servant of the house like that other human? If so, would I even see him around?
The door creaked open, making me jump. The human girl from yesterday walked silently into my room and straight for my dresser. She started pulling out clothes. "Excuse me?" I tried getting her attention. She didn't acknowledge me. She walked to the bathroom and back out without looking at me. "Ma'am?"
I walked up to her as she spun around with a red tank top in her hands. "The king would like you to feel comfortable," She said, holding out the tank top. "It should be hot today. Shorts will be acceptable." She patted the other clothes she pulled out that lay on top of the dresser. "The shower is running so jump in whenever you are ready." With a quick smile, she headed for the door.
"Wait! Where am I going?"
She stopped with her hand on the door.
"Your master wishes to take you out to the Market. He should be down to get you in twenty minutes.” She slipped from my room, leaving me standing there staring after her. I was going to spend the day with Jude? I'd rather be with my brother cleaning up after the beasts. I usually didn't think down about vampires because I come to know a few nice ones but Jude was anything but nice. If he wasn't ten times stronger than me, I'd take off once we got outside.

After my shower, Jude still hadn't come to get me so I decided to explore the halls. They were lit today and it didn't look like a dungeon like it did in the dark. The floor was covered with red carpet and the walls hung beautiful portraits and paintings. Each portrait I passed, the person in them would smile sweetly down at me but none of them spoke. None, except one of an old man. He looked royal and as I passed he started singing. "He who casts an eye on the beaut, will fall in love at sight!" He gave me a warm smile and leaned forward. "How are you dear?" He asked.
"F-fine," I replied. It was weird talking to a picture. I almost felt crazy.
"Good to hear. Spending a day with thy beloved?" He asked. I raised an eyebrow but before I could speak I was cut off by an angry voice.
"Can it, William!" Jude yelled at the painting. The man huffed and crossed his arms in front of his chest. Jude hissed at him then turned to me. "What are you doing out of your room?"
"I didn't think it would hurt to explore a bit," I snapped.
I didn't have time to think about the mistake I just made. Jude had me pinned against the wall, yet again. His face lingered towards mine with fiery. I pressed my lips together and turned my head so I wasn’t staring into those angry eyes.
"You forget your place, human!" He hissed. I didn't reply. Terror choked me. When he backed away I finally looked up at him.
The anger had left for a brief second and was replaced with curiosity. He stood there blinking at me before snapping out of a trans like state. Shaking his head, he turned on his heels and stormed down the hall. I tried to keep up but he was much faster than me.
The halls seemed to twist and turn. I felt lost until we came upon a large kitchen that was busy with slaves cooking and cleaning. This room was probably the only 21st century room in this whole building. It had tile floors and counter tops. There was a normal stove, sink, even a dish washer. I could tell the humans felt at home here. Jude walked up to another vampire, around his age, and leaned against the counter. "f*****g nightmare this morning," he groaned.
"Yeah well, at least you get to escape this place," the boy replied. He turned around to lean against the counter with a cup of something thick and red. It was thicker than blood. It almost looked like something mixed in with blood. He didn't notice me at first as he put the straw to his lips but before sucking the red goo up, he looked at me. He seemed to freeze where he stood. I couldn't keep eye contact with his red eyes so I pretended to look around the room.
When I looked back up, I seen Jude texting on a smart phone.
"s**t man, I'll be right back," Jude told the guy. Before leaving the room he turned back to glance at me. "Watch her." I rolled my eyes once he was gone and avoided the strangers stare. He seemed to laugh before setting his cup down.
"Are you hungry?" He asked.
I nodded.
He turned away and started cracking some eggs in a pan on the stove. I took a seat at the counter and watched him. "I'm Reid."
"Amabell," I replied. He turned from the stove and walked to the fridge where he pulled out a carton of orange juice.
"I hope you don't mind. We're all out of milk.” I leaned forward over the counter.
"That's fine." He poured a glass and sat it in front of me then took a seat across the counter. "Are you...his brother?" He looked up at me confused.
"Who, Jude? No," He laughed. "I'd probably kill myself if that kid was my brother." He seen the concern on my face and leaned in. "Don't worry, he's harmless."
"Why doesn't he like humans?" I asked. Reid looked down at the counter then jumped from his seat to flip the eggs.
"It's just...the way he's always been. Don't take it personally.”
“I find that a little hard.”
I turned to see a few human girls setting the table. They're faces were pale and they didn't speak to each other. Their eyes glanced up at me every minute or so. Did they think I was a vampire too?
Reid placed a plate of scrambled eggs in front of me and I didn't take time to dive in. They were delicious. After finishing half the plate, I looked back up at him. He continued reading a magazine while sipping from his cup.
"What is that?" I asked, not taking my eyes off the cup as he sucked down his red goop. He looked up at me then down at his cup.
"Oh, it's...blood with crushed ice and milk...It's like a shake.”
I cringed at him and finished off my food. He took my plate and placed it in the sink. Why was this vampire being so nice? He lives with the meanest one of them all yet he was so nice to me.
Jude walked back into the kitchen, snapping me from thought. I took a deep breath and jumped from the chair.
"God damn dog! He never f*****g learns!" Jude growled.
Reid laughed.
"He is your brother.” Jude rolled his eyes. When they landed on mine they went dark. With an annoyed sigh, he turned his back to me and walked towards the door.
"Come on," he said darkly. I gave one last look to Reid, who smiled weakly, and ran after Jude.

The air outside was breath taking. It stole the poisoned, unclean air from my lungs and replaced it with the fresh smelling, wonderful air of lilacs and newly picked veggies. The street was lined with booths of fruits, vegetables, picked flowers, and hand made trinkets. It reminded me a lot of the famer's market back home. I stared in awe at one booth that sold what looked like large fangs on a string that was meant to be a necklace.
Were those real?!
"Keep up or I'll leave you behind for the scavengers," Jude hissed. He was a few feet ahead of me and I had to practically run to keep up with him. He didn't pay attention to his surroundings. He was watching his feet as he walked, not caring he bumped into a few people. My eyes went back to the booths around me and landed on one that said kissing booth. I chuckled.
"Hello there, ma'am!" A small, plump man jumped out in front of me. "Would you be interested in a love stone?"
"I-uh-I," I stuttered at him. Jude pushed the guy aside and grabbed my arm.
"Beat it old man. We don't have time for your trash.” The man seemed taken aback by Jude's interruption and bent down in front of him.
"Prince, I'm so sorry for disturbing you! I just thought the young miss would like a beautiful rare love stone." He held his hand out with a pink and red stone in it. I gasped at it's beauty. My finger's crossed the smooth surface, sending goosebumps up my arm. Jude groaned and let go of my arm. I looked up to see him reaching in his pocket and pulling a wad of cash out. He pulled a ten from the pile and slapped it in the man's hand. The man, excited, straightened up and ran to his booth. I followed to examine the other things he had.
"Thank you, sir!" The man exclaimed. He held the stone out to me with a large smile. "Here you go ma'am! Cherish it and it'll bring you love." I grabbed the stone from his hand and flipped it between my fingers.
"Great, now come on," Jude growled, grabbing my arm again and pulling me into the crowd. His grip wasn't as tight as it usually was and I caught his eye every now and then when he glanced back at me. He was a bit rude to that poor man but he didn’t have to buy the stone.
“Thank you,” I finally said after he slowed his pace and let go of my arm.
His eyes narrowed when he stole a quick glance at me. “You don’t have to thank me.”
“Well, I did.” I was feeling a bit brave. Maybe it was because we were surrounded by other people but he seemed a bit more relaxed the deeper we got into the market place. He had his hands shoved into his pants pockets and he kept a slow pace so I wouldn’t fall behind.
Did I do something for him to hate me a little less?
Whatever was going on, I was happy he wasn’t threatening to kill me.
