It was Saturday morning, and a sleepy Harry rolled over to see her best friend was still passed out.
She took in her beauty.
Cheryl had dirty blonde hair, that was below shoulder length when she stood, it was currently sprawled across her pillow and across her face.
She had a love heart face shape that matched her petite physique.
Harry adored her bestie, she thought, as she lifted herself put of bed and headed toward the shower.
⠀⠀
⠀⠀
It was hot, and woke her up. Getting her excited for the day ahead.
It was a difficult journey emotionally, and not just for her as she'd overheard last night with Conrad getting a blast from the past.
She had so much respect for him, going through the same thing but worse and still wanting to help her do this.
She knew it wasn't for her, but it still took a lot and she appreciated the help.
As she finished blow drying her hair she heard Cheryl stirring in the next room.
She threw her sun dress on and took her makeup supplies into the bedroom to start applying it with some company.
"Good morning" she cheered.
"Morning" Cheryl grumbled, rubbing her eyes.
"How'd you sleep?"
"Like a drunk" she replied.
Last night was really fun, the staff were propelled to keep the music past their normal limit and they all drank and danced in the bar.
⠀⠀
⠀⠀
The lads were falling over by the end of the night and the girls sat having drunk, emotional conversation.
All in all, they really enjoyed themselves.
"Do you remember Chase tripping up over the chair?" Cheryl laughed.
"He would have bruised like a peach if he didn't have ability to heal"
"I know, I'm surprised he even got that far with the amount he drank, I'm sure he'll be feeling rough today" Harry smirked.
And as if on cue, the door knocked and opened.
"Good morning ladies" Chase said, with a gleaming smile.
It was as if the alcohol from last night didn't exist.
⠀⠀
⠀⠀
"How are you so chirpy?" Cheryl groaned, clearly not getting the same effect.
"Beer over vodka babe" he smiled, planting a kiss on her head and ruffling Harry's hair as he walked past.
"Want me to bring you some breakfast up here? Everyone is already downstairs eating"
"Ooh yes please" Harry smiled "I'll have pancakes" she added.
"Yesss, 2 pan au chocolates and 2 coffees" Cheryl groaned.
"I don't want coffee" Harry said.
"They're not for you babe" she replied, and Harry let out a chuckle.
"You need to drink less" she joked, but was greeted with more groans and a small smile.
⠀⠀
⠀⠀
She cintinued to apply her foundation while Cheryl showered and Chase came back with the food.
Whilst applying her mascara, she looked at her reflection.
Disliking what she saw and cringing.
'Damaged' she spoke at herself, feeling the pain inside her chest grow and swallowing it back down into the pit of her stomach.
"A new day" she said out loud, hoping she would stop feeling the effects of the emotion Christoph left her with.
Shame, anger, disgust.
⠀
⠀
After the girls had eaten and finished getting ready, they headed down to meet the guys.
The first place they were hitting was the shops, and Harry couldn't wait to see Cheryl's face when she realised there was a bloomindales here.
They set off in the SUV, the guys were going to play some ball before we met for lunch.
"See you later babe" said Chase, kissing Cheryl goodbye.
For the first time ever, watching this gave Harriette a horrible feeling in her chest that crushed her.
Pain that she'd never felt before, jealousy she had never felt.
Not over Chase, but their cute, perfect relationship that was strong no matter what.
Her and Chris had always been troublesome, with arguments and gaslighting so she always felt like the reason it was so toxic.
All she wanted was care and affection while he wanted power and status.
He stole everything from her and that wasn't love.
She wanted that feeling so bad, but now wasn't the time to worry about it.
She had a task at hand, and she would complete that before she bothered worrying about men again.
⠀⠀
⠀⠀
Bloomindales was empty, and they had the whole store to themselves for a few hours.
They flicked through handbags for at least 1 of those hours, just admiring the material and designs.
Harry settled for a SIMON MILLER shoulder bad, it was black with crystals covering it, and Cheryl couldn't keep her eyes or hands off of the Tory Burch totes, and decided on the Jaquard monogram embroidered style that was beige with prints of green flowers on the front was what she wanted.
It was stunning.
Next they decided to look at some shoes to go with the bags, with Harry chosing some Alexander Wang embellished heels and Cheryl going with some cute cream Jimmy Choo heeled pumps.
The dresses they chose were the most flawless.
⠀⠀
⠀⠀
The best suited for Harry was a David Koma dress.
It was a mini dress, in black with diamond encrusted straps and a cute little cut out at the front.
Cheryl picked a PAULE KA shift dress with a bow detail.
They paid up and realised it was already 12pm so they went to meet the guys at the bar they'd picked put for steaks and beers.
The minimal amount of girls to men was starting to show, but the girls would enjoy it none the less.
It was a few minutes drive, and they parked up and made their way inside.
It was a cute little bar, with minimal lighting and dart boards with 10 guys standing around watching each other play.
There was music, and chatter as it was a busy day, Harry felt a little excited to be in such a full bar complete with adults, as she was used to house parties full of frat boys and easy girls.
This experience was already teaching her new things, and as she ordered a Jack and Coke at the bar, she sighed in relief.
Just one day, no stress or doubt.
⠀⠀
⠀⠀
She sipped her drink.
"This place is awesome" shouted Cheryl, who was still only just about audible.
"I like it here" Harry shouted back.
They spotted the guys sat around in the corner but they didn't look happy, turning to look behind them, Harry and Cheryl could see why.
All eyes were on them, even the women.
This could be trouble.
"If we mind our business we should be okay" Harry told everyone when they sat in their booth.
"Let's just order some food" said Cheryl, nervously glancing around.
It wasn't the conflict they were afraid of, it was the blood lust.
Cheryl had no trouble with transitioning as her parents would keep her locked in until she was happy on an animal diet and not feeling any impulse.
She had cravings now and again if somebody would hurt themselves near her, but not enough to draw her uncontrollably toward the wound with the want to harm that person.
Harry was different, she was forced to turn, and didn't know how to deal with it at first.
⠀⠀
⠀⠀
She didn't tell anybody for a whole week, by this point she had been around other Vampires only but would smell out the donation centre and feel like she was losing it, being drawn to a place that was easily 4 miles away from her house.
She went shopping 2 towns over with Cheryl, Chase and Veronica, another friend of theirs, and was found feeding on an innocent in an alleyway next to the store.
With the poor girl almost at death until Chase had the strength to pull her off of her victim and feed her enough blood to keep her alive.
Then there was an incident where one of Elis friends fell at a party and she almost fed from him but was stopped by an aneurism spell he cast instantaneously.
She had minimal control, and would feed from blood bags donated to Chase, leaving him low sometimes.
She had to wean herself on to animal blood, and even now she had only just managed to keep her appetite at bay.
All she could picture was one of the creepy biker guys hitting on her and being to angry to stop herself.
She never wanted to harm a human, innocent or not, she couldn't live with that guilt shrewn on her.
⠀⠀
⠀⠀
They forgot about the looks for half an hour as they caught up and ordered some food, when all of a sudden Harry felt a hand on her shoulder.
"Excuse me miss, I think you're incredibly beautiful" the old creep smirked.
"Can I buy you a drink?"
She froze, unable to think clearly, but eventually found the courage.
"No, thankyou. Respectfully" she smiled back.
His face changed from pleasant to intimidating in seconds.
He was quite handsome, dark hair and an unshaven stubble.
Blue eyes to compliment them, but Harry couldn't fathom any interest in anybody especially a human.
She was too broken.
"Sure I cant tempt you?" He growled, gripping her arm tighter.
She looked up at him, finding strength She didn't even know she had.
"I said, no" and she yanked him off of her.
This made Chase stand, along with Cory and a few of the pack members.
"Guys don't worry, I got this" she mouthed.
"For your own safety, I wouldn't recommend that" she smirked.
Gesturing to the 15 guys around her.
"I'm not scared of your friends" he smirked back, with a cocky expression on his face.
⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀
She leant in closer, and caught his eye attention making him melt into her golden brown eyes.
"You'll do everyone a favour, head back to tour friends and spend the night describing just how much you love wearing pink underwear and trying on women's shoes" she took a step back and watched him distort for a second and turn on his heel.
The whole table burst out laughing.
"As if you just did that!" cried Cheryl.
I looked around at them laughing and did a sarcastic bow.
"Told you I had it" I smiled.
I was met with smiles all around, and majestic proud grins from Chase and weirdly, as he didn't even stand up to protect me, Conrad.
⠀⠀
⠀⠀
There was always a wierd vibe between us, ever since I turned he'd been suspiciously sarcastic toward me, showing his dislike to my new state.
It had never been quite normal, but his family and mine didn't conflict.
We kept our treaties and lived happy, separate lives, but me and Conrad had started seeing more of each other around a year and a half ago after I'd just turned 17 and was invited to one of Eli's parties.
It was a Halloween Party and I was dressed as The Queen of Hearts and he was a block of cheese, literally a costume in the shape of a block of cheese.
We'd talked, a little drunk, by the pool and he didn't realise who I was and I was still single, so we hit it off and had some chemistry that we just never brought up again because shortly after our talk at the party I met Christoph outside and we ended up talking a lot and he told me how he worked for my dad, and we ended up dating.
⠀⠀
⠀⠀
I never saw Conrad until parties which by that point I was with a well known vampire.
I think that disgusted him, until he knew I was the heir to the entire Vampire Kingdom and then he just avoided me at all costs.
Over time we grew more tolerable of one another but never enough to call each other friends.
I was now sat opposite him, a gleaming of pride in his eyes as they were fixated on me.
I shyly tucked my hair behind my ear, my arch nemesis finally had something positive to think about me.
I felt empowered.
