The city of Los Angeles... "Mr. Henry, I beg you to accept the marriage!" In the lobby of the Palace Lotus Flower, an old, harsh-looking figure knelt on the ground, constantly begging the young man in front of him. At the top, his tall, fierce yet majestic silhouette seemed to radiate a tremendous flow of power, filling the entire Palace Lotus Flower. Henry Richard sat cross-legged on the jade chair, the corner of his lips curling upward. "As Walter's son-in-law, you're asking me to drown myself in a f*****g hole?" The older man’s face immediately changed upon hearing that. He shook his head in a hurry. "Before the old master died, he made a will. The will requires Sir Henry to go down the mountain and be Walter's son-in-law for three years. Mr. Henry, you can't refuse. Please consider it, sir." As soon as the older man finished speaking, all the officials of the God of Electricity bowed down and begged in unison. Henry Richard had always hated to see people kneeling and begging. Right now, they were putting him in a tight spot. He was the master of the entire Lotus Flower empire, and now they wanted him to hide his identity and play the flattering son-in-law to the Walter family. He sighed, then waved his hand to signal everyone to rise. Three years, to him, would pass in a snap, and there was nothing he couldn’t handle. At Walter’s in-laws, it would just be a bit of extra life experience. ...................... The Walter family was one of the most prominent families. "Henry Richard, what are you doing so slowly that you can’t even get your feet moving?" Clara Walter, the eldest daughter of the Walter family and Henry Richard’s current wife, crossed her legs at the breakfast table, lips curling in scorn as she scolded him. Although married, Clara Walter despised Henry Richard’s inferiority. She was the lady of the Walter family, yet had been forced to bite her tongue and marry a “cheap cook” just because her father owed a life debt to the Richard family for saving the life of the Walter family’s patriarch. Hearing Clara’s shouting from the living room, Henry Richard was cleaning the house, his eyes narrowing. He gripped the broomstick so tightly that the plastic handle squeaked and soon cracked. "Mr. Henry, as Walter’s son-in-law, I beg you to remain calm. Calm is the key to making a good king." Henry Richard took a deep breath, quickly cleaned up the mess he had made, and hurried upstairs. Clara looked at his slovenly figure and pouted. She threw the melon rind directly to the floor, snorting. "Are your eyes and nose on your head? Don’t you see this trash right under my feet?" Henry didn’t respond, only bent down to clean up the melon rinds Clara had just tossed. Once these three years are over, I’ll teach her how to live properly. A loud bell suddenly rang from outside the door. Henry took out the melon rinds and went to open the door. Standing there was Raymond Vincent, Clara’s childhood sweetheart. Raymond had always assumed that sooner or later he and Clara would marry. But one night, Clara had been forced to marry Henry Richard instead. So in Raymond Vincent’s heart, Henry was a thorn in the eye. "s**t, get out of the way!" Raymond stomped hard on Henry’s bare foot, his face full of arrogance. Henry clenched his fists, anger boiling inside, but his face remained calm. Trying to make a fool out of him was Raymond Vincent’s big mistake. Raymond shoved Henry against a wall and calmly walked toward Clara, wrapping his arms around her neck. Their intimate posture made Henry feel utterly despised. He snorted and walked toward the dressing room. "Clara Walter, it’s time for me to go to the restaurant. I’ll be home in five hours." Henry’s words were like wind in Clara’s ears. She smiled at Raymond, then glared at Henry. Henry took a taxi, leaning back and stretching his shoulders. Comfort spread from head to toe, making him feel extremely satisfied. The air in Walter’s house reeked of money—he didn’t enjoy it as much as moments like this. The restaurant where Henry worked was not far. He went into the kitchen, quickly changed into his apron, and started working. Henry was one of the five most talented chefs here. Although he had only worked for two months, his skill had already won the restaurant manager’s approval. Chef Felix Kenneth, twenty years Henry’s senior, always looked at him with hostility. He feared that if Henry stayed a few more months, he would become a threat, replacing him as head chef at any time. "Henry, what’s wrong with you these days? Look at this—did you slice the salmon this thick?" Felix suddenly struck hard on the top of Henry’s head. Henry’s cold eyes narrowed. He held up a thin, sticky slice of salmon exactly one millimeter thick, put it close to Felix’s face, and asked: "You tell me—what unit of measure is smaller than a millimeter?" Felix was startled, his single eyelid twitching in anger. The other chefs couldn’t help but smile, covering their mouths. Before Henry’s arrival, Felix’s arrogance had made everyone itch with irritation. Felix’s face stiffened. He turned and kicked Edward Jason, the youngest cook, snarling: "s**t! Are you laughing at me?" Edward was kicked hard, his young face swelling on one side. The pain sent him rolling on the ground, groaning. Seeing the brutality, the others didn’t dare laugh again and lowered their heads, focusing on their work. Felix grew even cockier. He walked over to chef Jacob Steven, grabbed his ear until it turned red, and cursed: "Listen carefully—anyone who goes against me will be crushed to death!" He glanced at Henry as he spoke, his gaze sharp and threatening. Henry wiped his oily hands, the corners of his lips curling into a smile. This man bullies and beats his colleagues without hesitation. What nerve. Henry took off his apron and tossed it directly over the nearby wall camera. His action surprised everyone in the kitchen—they stared in curiosity. "You… what are you doing?" Felix suddenly felt an ominous premonition. Cold air ran down his spine, making him step back three paces. Henry shook his head, interlaced his fingers, and snorted. "How many times have you hit them? I’ll teach you the same lesson." Felix’s heart wavered. He backed up toward the kitchen counter, reaching behind for a machete, pointing it straight at Henry. "Get out. You think I’m afraid of you?" Henry tilted his head back and laughed wildly. It had been a long time since he had fought—his hands and feet itched for action. If Felix wanted trouble, this was perfect. If Henry didn’t teach him a lesson now, his conscience wouldn’t rest easy. Keng! Henry swung his leg, kicking Felix’s knife from his hand. The clang of metal hitting the floor was like a thunderclap to the others, who widened their eyes and backed into the corners to watch. Felix spat, rolled up his sleeves, and rushed at Henry, swinging a fist at his face. But Henry simply sidestepped, easily dodging the blow. "Stupid!" He smirked mockingly. His words sank Felix’s pride several layers deeper into hell. Anger flared in Felix’s eyes. He spun around, reaching for the knife again. "Henry, be careful!" Jacob Steven called out. Henry nodded slightly, but instead of dodging, he stepped in, grabbed Felix’s knife hand, and applied crushing force. Felix struggled, but Henry’s grip was unyielding. One by one, Henry snapped his fingers. Crack… c***k… The sound of breaking bones echoed through the kitchen, making everyone shiver. "Aaaaaaah!" Felix broke into a cold sweat, struggling desperately, but Henry showed no mercy. He forced Felix to the ground, calmly sitting on his back like a ruler on a throne. Despite Felix’s thrashing, he couldn’t escape. Henry seized his other hand and, just as mercilessly, broke each finger. Soon, all ten of Felix’s fingers were broken. His methods were ruthless. Jacob Steven and the others pretended not to see anything. Felix stared at his mangled hands, trembling with pain. Sweat poured from his forehead before he finally fainted. Because the camera had been covered and everyone in the kitchen testified that Felix’s injuries were accidental, Henry got off scot-free. "Henry, thank you!" Edward Jason and Jacob Steven clapped him on the shoulder with broad smiles. They had hated Felix’s arrogance for a long time, but no one had dared to stand up to him before. With Felix incapacitated, Henry was the obvious choice to replace him as chef. After changing out of his apron, Henry left work and returned to the Walter mansion.
