Silent Siren

I am a siren. I live in the sea. I have a tail. No I am not a female, I can walk on land. I can make my tail form into legs anytime I want. My name is Yorin, if you think it's weird that I said I was a siren then shut up. Sirens are a race of ocean dwelling people. Humans made up the myth that sirens are only female. I just think that they couldn't come to terms that they were attracted to the body of a male siren. Sirens are very beautiful creatures, perhaps not as beautiful as the elves or little fairy's that live on land, but we are beautiful indeed. The reason why we are so beautiful is to attract our mate to us, though some sirens will use their beauty to attract humans to them so that they could eat them or just kill them for fun. The sirens that usually do that either they are starving and feel that they have no choice but to do so or they are just plain evil. We sirens also have the most beautiful voice out of all of the creatures that live on this planet. We have the most beautiful voice because we are the only creatures who rely on their voice to find their destined mate. Every siren is born with a song tied to their soul. That song is the one we will sing every day of our life until we find our destined mate. When a siren hears a song that resonates with their soul they know that they've found their mate. The problem is that only the person who heard the song knows that they found the other half of their soul. The person who heard the song will always be able to hear it and follow it no matter where or how far the singer is. Once the singer is found the person who heard the song must then sing their song in front of the singer to let them know that they are a destined pair. Once that has happened then they can decide if they want to mate with each other and make it an official pairing or break off the bond that they had with each other since the moment their souls were created. If a siren wants to break off the bond that they have with their mate then they must go to the king and give a good reason that they want to break a bond. If the reason is good enough then the king will do a special ritual that only the royal family knows of and the bond will be broken. the two people who were once mates will have their memories of the ritual erased and given the choice of erasing the memory of the mate and the bod that they had or keeping it.
