Twelve

I just stood looking at him and he in turn looked back at me. Here was the man I had assumed I would never see in my life again. The man I had first loved, the man had been first for everything in my life. His pitch black hair had now be cut to anew style. A more mature and daring styling that made him look way more matured. His jawline was a s perfect as ever and his skin was spotless. His eyes were the perfect sea green they had always been and his face was heavenly. It seemed like he had become bigger, more buff. His body was well fitted and it was like he worked out all the time. And then I imagined him shirtless and I felt my heart beat begin to race. My tummy made uncomfortable knots and flips like I was a high school girl again. Just watching him, brought back the hot memories of how we used to make love and explore our bodies. I felt my body begin to go warm and my inner thighs feel wet. I swallowed heavenly. Maybe it was just because of the fact that I was reminiscing over everything and that was why this emotions were coming up. But then something deep down told me it wasn't just that. "Are you even here?" I heard Grumpy shout, rudely bringing me back to reality. "Oh God. I'm sorry." I apologized. Then I saw the pens on the floor and then the ink that had already spilled. I bent down to pick up the pens from the floor and I hurriedly walked to the counter. I saw them come and stand in front of the counter and I started to fidget and my body began to shake in anxiety. I clumsily threw somethings to the  ground, so I bent down and picked them up again. "I'm sorry." I apologized as I tucked a strand of hair behind my ear. Excuse." I said, the I walked to the closet to get one of those signs that warned people to be careful so they won't slip on the floor. I walked to where the ink had spilled and then I placed it there just so that there won't be an accident. Then I came back to them. I picked up the pens. "I'm sorry about the pens. I will cover the ones that went bad." Grumpy Levi was about to say something, but then Cian stopped him with a calm look. Then Cian walked up to he counter. "Can you?" He asked me with a hit of mockery in the voice. "Of course I can." I said. I checked the price of one of the pens and then I winced when I saw it. Eight hundred and twenty nine dollars for one! What the hell?! And how many of them had I broken? I looked up at Cian to see a mocking facial expression. He wasn't smiling, but then he was mocking me I knew it. "It's a big surprise you are working here." He told me. "I wonder if the manager knows of your history in touching things." I felt a sharp of pain. He was talking about my arrest. I felt my body get cold. He looked at me and I saw disgust written all over his face. "I doubt it. If not you wouldn't be here." He assured me. Then he looked at me. "What are you doing here? Are you now a big time thief or you have changed to another road? Let's say prostitution?" I was dumbfounded.  I was silent. Then I looked at him.  "Unlike some of us, we don't have needs available for us on a platter of gold." I said. He gave me a sort of look.  "You have a mouth now." He told me. Then he looked at me. "It's fine, we will pay for all the pens. Being poor is something I can't relate to unfortunately."  I looked at him with so much anger. Then I felt my mind clouded with questions. Why had he never met me? Why had he just abandoned me? Why? I checked the prices and then I put them in a bag. "That will be five thousand dollars." I said in shock. For some simple pens. He paid and then took the bag away and walked out. Grumpy Levi went behind him and collected it from him, before going to the door to open it for him. I touched my face with my palms. I felt hot. I was still unable too believe what had just happened. After how many years, the odds that it was here I was meeting him.  I didn't want to believe that all of this had just happened here and now. * * * "I am so sorry for leaving you here." Lily said as she came in. I turned to her and immediately said.  "Cian was here." I went straight to the point. She looked at me shocked. "Wait who?" She said. "Cian. Cian Stonewell." I said. Lily looked like I had just said an alien came by. She looked at me. "You're kidding right?" She asked me. "Far from that." I said. "Levi, the guy who you said comes around to get pens for his boss. Well Cian was his boss and like I said, they came together." Lily looked at me and gently touched my arm. "Oh my God Selena are you ok?" I shrugged as I settled into a chair. "No." I said as i felt my voice become shaky. "I totally disgraced myself and he also humiliated me too."  I saw Lily's face become clouded with anger.  "He did what?" Lily asked me. I cleaned my eyes and grabbed a hankie. Then I dabbed it all over my eyes. "I was confused when I saw him and then I mistakenly spilled the pens." I said. Lily looked like her eyes wanted to poke out. "Woah. That s**t is f*****g expensive." "He paid for them all eventually." I said. "But not before he made references to my jailtime." Lily looked like she wanted to burst. "I have been standing here!" A grumpy teenage boy said. "Oh shut up!" Lily snapped at him and he became quiet. Then she bent down to me. I started to clean my eyes. "He's right. We need to get back to work."  She stopped me. "Wait. There's no rush for this. We can talk about it now." I shook my head and walked to the counter. "Don't worry. We can talk about it later." I left Lily looking behind me and then I walked to the counter. "Hi,  how can I help you?" I asked the woman up front with a weak smile.
