Wedding bliss

1054 Words
*Sam* I feel happier than I ever thought possible. With my arm around Kate, our friends and family gather around to greet and congratulate us. She is finally my wife. This is my happily ever after… my own private fairy tale. My mind keeps cheering, repeating, ‘We made it! We really got the princess and the kingdom!’ I can’t help but smile like an i***t; my cheeks are starting to hurt, but I don’t care at all. Max approaches, beaming at us. I haven't seen him since I moved here, and he looks as perfect as ever in his navy suit. “Congratulations, Sam! I’m so incredibly happy for you. Pamela sends her love; she’s so sorry she couldn’t make it.” “Thank you for being here, Max. It’s great to see you.” I hug him tightly. I’ve missed him. The whole mess, all the pain… it wasn’t really his fault. Not at all. He takes Kate’s hand and kisses it softly. “A pleasure to finally meet you, Kate. Congratulations… you make a stunningly beautiful bride.” “Thank you, Max. It’s so great to meet you too,” she replies, smiling warmly at him. Max claps me on the shoulder. “You and I really hit the jackpot in the love department.” I force a smile. I’m relieved Pamela decided not to come. “Yeah, we did.” Seven Months Earlier: “You what?” I stare at her, convinced I must have heard wrong. We’re lying in bed, and Pamela just dropped another bomb on me. She sighs and rolls her eyes, as if I’m a special kind of foolish. “Max proposed to me yesterday. He was so sweet and romantic, and I accepted. I mean, look at this ring!” “I can’t believe you would come here the day after getting engaged. So this is it, isn’t it? You’re choosing him after all.” My disbelief hangs heavy in the air. I need to be alone. Honestly, I need to cry my broken heart out in a flood of pain. She runs her cursed nails up my chest, her voice a soft purr. “No, Sam... Don’t be silly. It doesn’t make a difference. It’s just a silly ring. We don’t have to change anything. Max will be away a lot… he’ll never know.” “It makes a difference to me. I’m done, Pamela. You’ve made your choice. I’m done with this. And you better treat Max right from now on. He deserves your faithfulness. Don’t go breaking him too.” I stand up, pulling on my clothes. She jumps up, her anger surfacing. She stomps her foot like a petulant child. “You can’t do this, Sam! I won’t give you up. You’re mine!” “Well, darling, you don’t have a choice. Put on some clothes and go back to your fiancé. Be happy with what you have; it’s a lot more than you deserve, and plenty of women will envy you.” This time, I have no doubt: this ends today... for good. She glares at me, putting on her clothes. “You’re going to regret this, Sam. No one dumps me like this. One day you’ll pay for it. You’ll regret it.” “Surprisingly, I don’t think I will. Bye, Pamela. Give Max my condolences… the poor guy has no idea what he’s getting himself into.” Her angry screech echoes as she turns and stomps out. I throw myself onto the bed, breaking into sobs. In that moment, I resolve to get away, to put distance between me and Pamela so I won’t risk giving in to her again. Back to Present Time: “Earth to Sam! You zoned out there,” Max says, chuckling. I smile back at him. “Yeah, I guess I did. I was just thinking about when I moved here. I never expected any of this.” *Kate* It has been the most wonderful day and evening. Many hours later, Sam sweeps me up into his arms, carrying me over the threshold of our new house. Our future looks so bright and happy; he has chased away the shadows, erasing my past. He carries me all the way to the bedroom before gently setting me down. “Welcome home, Mrs. Levi.” “Well, thank you, Mr. Levi. And thank you so much for today; it couldn’t have been any more perfect if I had planned it myself.” I tell him, kissing him softly. “You know I’m going to love hearing others call you that,” he says with a soft sigh. “You being my wife is the best thing that has ever happened to me.” With a tender touch, he slowly removes my veil and lets my hair down, running his fingers gently through it to untangle the strands. I turn around, pulling my hair over one shoulder, allowing him to open my dress. Then, I turn back once more, letting the fabric slide off my body. “You are the most beautiful woman in the world,” he says softly, pulling me into his strong arms and kissing me deeply, making my breath catch in my throat. I quickly remove his clothes. No matter how handsome he looks in them, I always think he looks best without any. Right now, I want my sexy husband naked and as close to me as possible. With a playful smile, I push him down onto the bed, teasingly and slowly stripping out of my underwear. I feel his eyes on me, almost like a physical touch, as I crawl up next to him. “I can’t believe we are married. I’m just waiting for you to wake up and realize what a mistake you made,” he says, grinning at me. “That you could do better.” I shake my head, my smile unwavering. “That’s never gonna happen. There’s no one better.” We don’t drift off to sleep until the sun peeks back over the horizon. We spend hours kissing, cuddling, and making love, savoring each moment, expressing our love without reservation. Each second is an adventure, a celebration of our newfound life together, and I cherish every heartbeat as we lose ourselves in each other.
