Surprising her

1448 Words
2 months later *Kate* I have been into town, tying up some lose ends from my old life. Part of me feel bad, kinda like I am lying to Sam, but it is better for him to not know the truth of our first meeting… also that part of my life is fully behind me now, my future is with him. On my way back, I get a text from Sam: ‘Come down to the house on your way back. Very important.’ It isn't like Sam to send a text like that, but I answer: ‘Okay, on my way.’ I am wondering what it is. Honestly, he has been a bit weird lately. Very occupied... I kind of expected him to propose right after the party. But he hasn't yet. Maybe he wanted to have the house finished first and to make it a surprise. On the other hand it allowed me to finish thinks and be truly ready to commit fully to him. I park in front of the house. I haven't been here for a couple of weeks. He told me he wanted it to be a surprise. Maybe he just wants to show it to me, being all done as it is now. When I walk up to the front door, I find a note: ‘Go inside, love. The first clue is in the kitchen.’ I smile. Oh, what is he up to? I open the door, walking inside. The house is finished, and every piece of furniture is put inside. It looks absolutely gorgeous. I walk into the kitchen, finding a box on the kitchen table. I slowly open it to reveal a pair of Louboutin Cinderella shoes, making me gasp. There is also a new note: ‘Go down the hallway. The second door on the left holds the next clue.’ I go down the hall, and as I open the door, I see the most amazing nursery, making me clap a hand over my mouth. It is so pretty, and the color neutral, as we don't know the s*x of our baby. On the chair sits a velvet box, and I open it, finding the most beautiful diamond and sapphire set of necklace and earrings and a new note: ‘My mother wore this on her wedding day. I hope you will do the same. Please proceed across the hallway to our bedroom, my love.’ I am starting to feel dizzy, having a hunch about what he is up to. He really got me here. I hadn't expected this at all. I slowly walk across the hall and open the door to find the master bedroom. Just like everything else, it is just perfect. He really did well here. On the king-size bed is a white box, and I open it. Its contents make me giggle a bit. It is white lace underwear and a garter belt made of lace like flowers. And of course, there is a new note: ‘I can't wait to see this on and slowly take it off. The next clue is in the bathroom.’ I open the door to the master bathroom, which by the way looks like something out of a magazine and is the size of a studio apartment. "Welcome, Kate. I am Lucy, your stylist for today. Oh, ain't you just beautiful." "Uhh, hi Lucy. Thank you." I don't really know what to do, but Lucy just points to a chair, and I sit down. This is like being in a fairytale. When she is done with my hair and makeup, she holds up a mirror to me, and I look at myself. "Oh, this is so beautiful, Lucy. Thank you so much." "Oh, it was my pleasure, darling. But we are not completely done yet. This is for you." She hands me a big box, and I open it to find the most beautiful long veil with little stones spread on it to look like sparkling stars. Lucy takes it from my hands. "Wow... you got yourself a man with great taste, my love. This is absolutely beautiful." She tells me and fastens it in my hair. When I look at myself with the veil, I almost can't stop the tears. "Oh, he does. Could he be any more perfect?" She smiles and hands me a note: ‘Almost ready, my love. I am sure you look beautiful. Take the things with you and go back to your car.’ I say goodbye to Lucy and gather my things to go back to my car. As I get in, I notice a bouquet on the seat. It is very beautiful, and there is another note: ‘Drive back to your father's house. See you soon, my love.’ I put all the things on the seat next to me and start the car. I can't help the giant smile on my face. I can't believe he is doing this. As I reach the front door, my mom opens it for me, tears in her eyes. "Oh sweetie, you look so beautiful. Come here, come here. This is Sabrina... Sam's sister." "So good to finally meet you, Kate." A woman who looks very much like a female version of Sam pulls me into her arms and hugs me. "So good to meet you too, Sabrina." I am whisked into my parents' bedroom, and Sabrina pulls out the most amazing wedding dress. It has a lace top, an empire waist, and a simple pleated skirt, and I love it. I go to the bathroom and put on the lingerie, blushing slightly as I get back into the bedroom. Sabrina giggles. "Oh, my brother is naughty, I see," making me blush even more. "But I am so jealous. I wish I could wear that." "Well, it won't be long before I can't," I say, smiling and rubbing my hand over my stomach. I am helped into my dress and shoes, putting on the jewelry, and my mom clasps her hand over her mouth. "Oh, you look like a fairy-tale bride." Sabrina nods. "Sam is so gonna cry when he sees you." Sabrina hands me a note: ‘I hope you are ready, my love. This is the last note. Come meet me in the living room.’ As I enter the living room, I find Sam waiting for me. He looks absolutely handsome in a perfectly fitted black suit with a charcoal shirt and a black embroidered waistcoat and matching tie. "Well, hello there, handsome." He smiles at me and bites his lip, clearly fighting tears already. "Oh Kate, you look so beautiful, my love. I hope you have enjoyed your day so far." "I have, Sam... I truly have. I can't believe you did this. It is the most romantic thing ever," I say, unable to hold back a couple of tears. He grasps my hand in his and gets down on one knee. "Since I first saw you, Kate, you have turned my life upside down in the very best way. You helped me through some rough times and let me heal. I love you more than any words could ever say, and now you are even making my biggest dream of being a father come true. You are my heart and my soul. You are my life. Will you do me the honor of becoming my wife here today?" I almost can't speak from the emotions, so I nod furiously. Finally managing to croak out a yes, he slips the ring on my finger. It is beautiful, like everything else, shaped like a flower, and I kiss him deeply. He grins. "I am really happy you said yes, or it would have been rather embarrassing." He slides open the door to the gardens and reveals our family and friends, who erupt in cheers and clapping. The garden has been transformed into a wedding venue, and I totally lose my breath. "Did you do this?" "With a bit of help, yes. I hope you like it," he says softly, and I kiss him again. "Oh, I love it, Sam. I love it all, and I love the house. But most of all, I love you." My father shows up. He smiles at me. "Don't you look beautiful, darlin'. Off with ya, Sam. You have somewhere to be." Sam gives me a quick kiss and hurries down to the waiting priest. My father takes my arm, and the music starts. As he leads me down the aisle, I see Sam waiting for me, so very handsome, smiling at me and drying a tear from his eye. I don't think I could be any happier.
