CHAPTER 47 ANGELA The moment I opened the door, Benedicta was already standing there. She folded her arms. “Finally.” I blinked. “You've been waiting?” “Since.” I stepped inside and dropped my purse onto the couch. “You could have gone home.” “And miss this?” She pointed at me. “Absolutely not.” I frowned. “Miss what?” She looked me up and down, then smiled knowingly. “You.” I narrowed my eyes. “What about me?” “You're glowing.” “I am not.” “You are.” She walked closer, studying my face. “Something happened.” I tried to keep a straight face. “Nothing happened.” “Angela.” “Benedicta.” She crossed her arms again. “Did he kiss you?” My eyes widened. “What?” She burst out laughing. “Oh my God. He did!” “Keep your voice down!” “So he did!” I covered my face. “Benedicta!” She grabbed my arm excitedly. “Tell me everything.” “There is nothing to tell.” “Liar.” I couldn't stop myself from smiling. That was enough for her. “Oh, look at you!” She started laughing. “You're actually smiling like a woman who has just fallen in love.” “I have not fallen in love.” “Hmm.” She gave me a suspicious look. “Then why are you smiling?” I looked away. “He asked me again.” Her teasing expression softened. “Asked you what?” “To be his girlfriend.” “And?” I took a breath. “I said yes.” For a second, she just stared at me. Then she screamed. I quickly covered her mouth. “Are you crazy?” She pulled my hand away. “You finally said yes!” “I know.” She hugged me tightly. “I knew it!” I laughed against her shoulder. When she finally pulled away, she looked at me with a mischievous smile. “So…” “So what?” “Mrs. Damian—” “Don't start.” She laughed. “I'm just saying. Now that you've accepted him, we need to discuss something important.” I already knew where this was going. “No.” “You don't even know what I'm going to say.” “I know you.” She grinned. “The kids.” I stared at her. “What kids?” “Your children.” “Benedicta!” She laughed loudly. “Don't look at me like that. You have a boyfriend now.” “That doesn't mean I'm having children tomorrow.” “Tomorrow?” She raised an eyebrow. “So you agree it's happening eventually?” I grabbed a pillow and threw it at her. She caught it, laughing. “You're impossible.” “And you're blushing.” “I am not.” “You are.” I turned away, but she wasn't finished. “So, how many kids?” “I'm going to bed.” “One?” I ignored her. “Two?” I walked toward my room. “Three?” “Goodnight, Benedicta.” She followed me. “Wait! At least tell me if Damian has baby fever!” I stopped and turned around. “He didn't say anything about babies.” She smiled. “Yet.” I shook my head, laughing. “You're crazy.” “Maybe.” She pointed at me. “But you're officially somebody's girlfriend now.” I looked down at my hand. A small smile appeared on my face. “Yes.” For the first time, saying it didn't scare me. It felt real. And somewhere inside me, beneath all the fear and secrets, I was happy.
