Can't Change the past

After a long and displeasing conversation filled with incessant turmoils and ultimatum, Marni returned to her room angered. She was angry at herself for expecting better from her parents, angry at her father for treating her that way and telling her such things. But she was even angrier at the man who was supposed to be by her side but would not even bother to reply when she called, sent text messages or voice notes. He had not even tried to call her at all ever since he left for his home county for an unknown reason. She started preparing her bag for the journey ahead but her phone rang so she hurriedly picked it up only to find a caller ID different from her husband's. It was Lidya calling once more. " well I was getting too woried. I really couldn't take it anymore. I'm sorry, did I interupt your meeting? Ok I'll just drop the call then" "Lidya" "Hein" "I'm coming over to your place. " "What, now? I mean why?" "I'll explain when I arrive there" she added before dropping the call. Marneil gathered her belongings in a very short period of time since she had brought just a few things to spend the weekend. It's been two years since she left the mansion and moved into her apartment. She was around just to spend the weekend too bad she had to leave only after a night. She carried her suitcase down stairs and was about to leave when something stopped her. It was her mother's call. She stood still, simply facing the door and waiting for her mom to complete her task. '' I hope you will be back in time for your wedding next week " "If you are done,I'm leaving " Marneil left without leaving Adel a chance to utter a word. She moved towards the car where her newly assigned chauffeur was waiting for her. The sight of him beside her car made her feel even more suffocated. His name was Daves Mauchly, he was one of her father's most trusted man. All she knew was that having him around was the same as giving detailed reports of her daily activities to her father. "Where are we heading to Ma'am?" He asked politely. "Northern streets." Was her short reply. About fifteen minutes later she was already at Lidyas place. She had Daves wait for her in the car before entering the building. When the elevator halted at the 7th floor she stepped out and rang the bell at the door oposite it. When Lidya opened the door she enclosed her with a long hug before entering the apartment. "When did my life become such a mess?" She paused and wiped off a year that had managed to escape her guard even though it only seemed to flow even more. She took a deep breath, "I don't even know where to start or what to do, I'm completely lost...'' "Have some water and calm down." Lidya said while handing her a glass of water before sitting next to her in the modern white and black sofa." Tell me because you are scaring me, did they send you parking or...worse did they..disown you?"Lid added with widened eyes as she realized the gravity of what she just mentioned. "No; they didn't but they threatened to. My problem, if I can count it as one is that I'm not just their daughter anymore I'm now MCs wife as well. Why must I chose between my love and my family?" "Oh dear! They asked you to choose between them and you choosed MC so,wait a sec, you choosed your parents! That means you are going to meet MC now right?" A lone tear rolled down Marni's cheek as she nodded not too sure of the reason behind the sadness that had enveloped itself in the salty liquid that explored the curves of her jawline. She stood up. "Do you know what drives me crazy, the man has forgotten about me since he left. I've left him thousands of messages, tones of missed calls and yet what ? No returned call, not even one . Even if he was very busy how many seconds could it possibly take to write a text message to your wife hein?" She took a deep breath after voicing out her fustration then continued. "You know I know I'm not supposed to be angry at him but f**k I am! I'm tired of being worried sick already... And now father has added Daves to my long list of problems to solve " "You mean Daves the chauffeur or some other guy?" Lidya asked not really getting how a chauffeur could be a problem to someone. "Look, if Daves comes with me father will know the whereabouts of MC and will certainly hurt him after the divorce is pronounced or even before " Marneil explained before sitting down again and taking a sip of water. "I now regret ever deciding to spend my weekend end at the mansion." "It's not your fault, this was meant to happen. I'll help you get rid of the driver but when will you be traveling?" "First thing tomorrow morning " "Fine, then I'll prepare my suitcase as well " Lidya retorted. They went in for a hug and Marni could not help but shed a tear. "Thanks for being there for me all the time girl " "What are friends for? Now you owe me an apology " Lidya retorted causing Marni to chuckle. "Sorry for thanking you and thank you , you are the best." "Ok,ok that's enough already tears are not welcome in my house even if you are the one crying. " "That's new, will you really throw me out if I cry?" "Dare me and see" she said with utmost seriousness. "Fine " Marneil surrendered and wiped away the tears . She looked at the ring that had regained its place on her wedding finger and said, "i am definitely worried but furious because i can't help but think he has forgotten about our marriage and everything " "Common girl don't say that. You know if he's not picking up or calling its for a good reason I'm sure he will be more than ready to share with you tomorrow, by the way you can scold him all you want by then." "But, I must admit what we did was crazy " "Sure it was but you can't change the past. " The sound of the ringing bell reverberated .Daves? Why does he need to come and check on her after bearly thirty minutes? The door opened but the male figure that entered was not Daves but...
