The one I choosed
Adelia Walterson walked up the grand staircase that lead to her only daughter's room.It has been hard to handle their mother - daughter relationship lately. That is for the past two years.Gladly, Marneil decided to spend this weekend in their home.
She will seize this opportunity to patch things up with her daughter. She will try her best to create a bond between them then who knows she might actually listen to them by then without forcefully being stubborn.
The door was open so she led herself in but surprisingly Marneil wasn't sleeping on the bed as expected. She wanted to watch her sleep that's why she was so early this morning. But sadly she was no where to be seen around the room. She turned left and right while her eyes searched around the room.
Suddenly, the crackling sound of closing door echoed out of the blue causing Adelia to look towards the bathroom door. A girl with dark brown hair, she was tall and slim. She had beautiful and enthralling green emraud orbs that held intense emotions and spoke silent yet unending chants of seduction captivating every ignorant soul that dares to look there in. She was to put it simply very beautiful but to be factual and franc she was divinely good looking. The epitome of female perfection with unrestrained beauty. The reincarnation of the Greek goddess of beauty even in her simple white pyjamas. She was a very attentive, smart and sensitive lady.
She ussualy noticed the slightest changes occurring or the presence of others but not this time. Staying away from home has changed her alot Adel couldn't help but notice. Then she figured out that the girl was seemingly lost at the the sight of a glittering object of a rather small size she held in her hand as she entered the room. She was so lost in revery that she didn't notice her mom's gaze on her and carefully parked what seemed to be her treasure in a drawer.
"Marneil" her mom's called out after watching the scene.
Startled, she couldn't help but stutter out a 'huh ' as she turned to face her mother. "Mom," she uttered in a rather shocked tone as her heartbeats accelerated though she tried hard to regain her composure.
" what are you doing here and why did you enter my room without knocking? " "I found the door open," she paused as she intensified her gaze on her."but, I must ask what was that you were ... admiring to the point of not noticing your mother's presence?
" After a very short awkward silence, Marni cleared her throat and answered saying it was nothing.
Adel was not satisfied, "since when does nothing make you nervous? "
"I'm not nervous " Marni retorted with all the composure she could muster but it was largely insufficient. Adel moved forward with folded arms and a raised brow ,she paused for a second to throw a glance at Marni and continued to the drawer that she searched until she found some thing that resembled what she earlier saw. For a moment, the awkward silence reigned.
She turned and Marni swallowed. The round shaped piece of metal was fashioned just like a classic wedding ring with the initials M and C engraved in it. With displeasure and shock written all over her face she looked at Marni. She refused to believe what she was thinking was true it can't be.
"What is this? Why are you having such a ring what is this supposed to mean Marneil Walterson?" She questioned in bewilderment.
After a while, Marni finally lifted her eyes and looked at her mother's accusing glare. At that moment she felt so guilty and every intention of lying vanished from her mind. She looked aside and answered in an almost inaudible voice "it's my wedding ring" Adel stumbled backwards but supported herself on a bed post. "Mom I,I got married to Christopher. " Marni continued.
Adel kept on shaking her head, denying to accept whatever Marni was spouting -it is a blatant lies right?
"You,you are getting married to Andrew next week remember, so what nonsense are you spouting? " Adel spoke in an obvious attempt to convince herself that her daughter was lying. Marni was in tears. She didn't expect things to end up this way. When she got married a couple of days ago ,she and her groom came here to present themselves but her parents where out of town. Her husband had to travel urgently to his home county. For some reason he didn't judge it necessary to let her know why. When her parents returned, she decided to come spend the weekend with them just to prepare their minds for the shock but she ended up being caught between the hammer and the nail.
"Mom, we are really married. I, I never wanted to marry Andrew in the first place and you knew it. I kept telling you and dad that I love Chris..."
"Hold it right there,"her mom interrupted "do you know the significance of love? What have you done Marneil? Do you realize that you've put our family at stake by that reckless action of yours?..."
"Mom I love him"
"Shut it up!" She took a deep breath and frantically asked :" So how many people know about this? "
"...well, about four of us assisted the..."
"Ssh" her mom really didn't want to hear that word."fine, you'll go to that disheveled coolie and get divorced as soon as possible in utmost discrecy you got me?"
"Sorry but I can't and I won't do that."she said wiping off her tears.
"You'll say that to your dad once he hears about this."
" Mom,I can't get divorced why don't you try to understand me huh? I love that man he is the one I chosed he makes me happy "
"Why don't you chose someone better for your self and your family? I really wanted to fix things between us you know, but you are so unscrupulous. To the extent of bringing such shame on our family."
Adel left the room very disappointed in Marni. Even if she must get married to some other guy in secret she should have married an important person not that undesirable entity named Christopher.
Marni watched her mother's silhouette vanish from her range of sight with welling eyes and wet cheeks. She crumbled to the floor and cried with unrestrained tears. When she heard her phone ring, she quickly stood up and wiped her tears. Who knows, it might be the only call she has anticipated this much in her life. She picked up the phone but sadly it was a call from her bestfriend Lidya. Just the fact that the caller ID was not the one expected made her feel frantically dejected.
After taking a while to put herself together she answered the call. "Hello Lidya, what's up" her voice was hoarse. "Nothing serious, what's up you don't seem okay" her friend asked with a concerned tone .
"Lidya..."
"..."
"They've discovered it,they know about us and...I don't know how dad will react to this he might kill me."
"Calm down, he won't do such a thing and you know it..."
"You can't understand you don't know what happened here..."
"..."
"Wait a minute, I'll call you later my dad is here. "
Marni watched her mom escort her father :Mr Ethan Walterson from the car into the house. Though She was looking through a window in the first storey, she could clearly see her parent's displeasure.
Shortly afterwards a servant came knocking at her door and informed her that her father was waiting for her in the study. She was not expecting anything less from her parents she admitted. They have always preferred their interests to her. Everyone and everything was always more important than her. The companies, the relations and their various properties. All of that mattered but not her. She even believed that they have already called that lawyer of theirs and he will hurry himself there to execute the self centered decision of her parents. Anyway its not like he had a choice at least not more than she had a choice.
