Chapter 2 “Your Highness, are you really going to give Master Samuel up to marry the demon prince who is the mystery to all mortal kingdoms? What if he is ugly? What if he is a womanizer? I don’t mean to slender the prince but in all truths, why is it no one knows anything about him?” Ivy kept asking a line of questions to Lilly, she wanted to make sure that she heard it right when she heard the servants in the kitchen whispering about Princess Lilly getting married to Prince Raphael Marvel. “You are being noisy Ivy, you know? And that’s very low for a lady like you.” Murmured Lilly. Lilly knew that one wrong word from her mouth could cost Samuel his head. She broke up with him so she could move mysteriously with her plan. She knew no one could be trusted with her secret, especially her friend Ivy who sometimes showed interest in Sam. Lilly knew that other people were jealous to the extent that they would make sure that no one gets to enjoy what they couldn’t have. By this time Lilly have already managed to use her magic to sneak a letter to Sam’s home. In a letter she asked Sam to met up with her at the outskirts of their town in the middle of the night. If everything went well with her plan, she hoped to experience being loved one last time before marring the mysterious prince. ******** On the other side of town Samuel was still confused at what could the letter he just received could mean. He was sure the handwriting belonged to the love of his life. Also, he was sure he could not miss the opportunity to seek answers from the Princess. Hence, he would surely show up for a met up. He longed to hold Lilly in a tight embrace like old times, to kiss her with hunger and intensity. He never wanted more except for Lilly’s affection, not a high position he held in an army or the luxurious life he led. His only dream was to be equally cherished by the woman he loved dearly. By sun set Samuel started preparing himself for a met up. He convinced himself that it will surely be a date, pushing to the back of his head the thought that they have already broken up. He couldn’t help the smile that caked his handsome face. Some days he would wonder why out all the beauties in their kingdom he chose to fall for the one girl that was out of his reach. Anyways, being with Lilly felt right to him. He couldn’t ignore the tingling feeling he always felt when he and Lilly had a skin-to-skin contact. “Mom, Lilly and I broke up yesterday….” Said Sam as he approached his mother who was busy preparing dinner in the kitchen. “I guess you did, your father told me about Princess Lilly’s engagement. How are you coping with all the changes, I mean you just got back home and lost the girl of your dreams” Sofia responded while keeping herself busy with her house chores. Her busyness was no longer about finishing her chores but her means of hiding her facial expression. How she wished she was a queen to a certain kingdom, maybe by then her son would not have to suffer so many grievances. Trying to avoid the topic Sam replied by saying “I won’t be home for dinner, I have somewhere to be.” Sam has planned to arrive earlier than Lilly so that he could surprise her with a picnic. He told himself that he will brush off the breakup and continue playing the thoughtful boyfriend he always was. “No baby you can’t miss dinner, your dad won’t be home in the evening. He sent a massage that he will be caught up in the meeting of preparing the terms of the alliance the kingdom will have with the demons.” Replied Sofia softly trying to get her son to sympathize with her. Dinning alone is never a funny thing especially now that her son is around. Sofia loved her son dearly. “Fine I will stay for dinner, but I will leave quickly after finishing dining. Is that ok with you?” Sam asked his mother with a pleading gaze. He was dying to prepare for meeting Lilly. “When you love someone, you appreciate every little moment you get to spend with them, you never ask for more than they can give for their happiness is more important to you than yours. I will take that offer.” It was always Sam’s mom’s habit to beat about the bush when giving responses. Sam liked it but sometimes felt like his mom would turn a small thing to a serious matter, like she felt like she never deserves his affection, but he never gives that too much thought. Sam went back to his room to wait for his mother to call him when she was finish with dinner preparation. She finished earlier than Sam predicted, and they had their dinner quietly. After dinner Sam went ahead with his picnic preparing and left home as soon as he finished. ********** Arriving at the agreed spot Sam started setting up a tent. He decorated it neatly and gave himself time to admire his hard work. He chose a sport that was a little uphill to wait for his loved one. “I thought you will not show up considering you did not respond to my letter.” Said Lilly approaching Sam who was sitting on a stone under moonlight. The light highlighted his handsome face. He gave Lilly a small smile before responding. “And miss spending one precious moment with you.” He said it more like a question than a statement. “Come hell fire or high water I will never miss a chance to hold you in my arms and whisper sweet nothings in your ear.” Said Sam as he snaked his arms around Lilly’s hourglass figure. Lilly couldn’t help the smile that crept on her face, she looked more beautiful. “I love you, Samuel Esteban.” Said Lilly quietly. Sam smiled at her statement and gave her a small kiss at her cheeks before saying, “I love you more and that is why I prepared a surprise for you. Now close your eyes I will walk you to see it.” Lilly did not respond as she couldn’t stand the intensity of the feelings that crept on every fiber of her being. She just did as she was told. “Sam” murmured Lilly as they were walking down the small foot path leading down the hill where Samuel has set a tent. “mhhh” replied Sam nonchalantly. “You are not mad at me, are you?” said Lilly in small whisper. Samuel gave a small laughter amused by Lilly’s timid expression. “No, I’m not, I’m actually glad you called me here.” Lilly was stunned by Sam’s response, she wished she could turn back and look at him to see the expression on his face. “We have finally reached our destination; you can open your eyes.” Said Sam as he tried to change the topic. He has long decided to ignore their breakup. Lilly opened her eyes and was amazed by what appeared in her view. The tent that was open, revealing the spread mat inside. On the mat was the basket of goodies that included wine and fruits. She didn’t miss that this time Sam did not buy he the spirit purple roses he used to buy for her but instead he bought lilies. “Are these flowers mines?” asked Lilly as she made her entrance in a tent. “Everything here is yours Your Highness.” Said Sam with a big smile on his face. He was happy and he was never robbing himself by trying to hide it. The sat down on the mat, Sam held Lilly in his arms and Lilly gave herself off to indulge on the best feeling she ever felt in her whole lifetime. “Samuel, you seem to have changed from what you were the last time I saw you. I mean last night you wanted to know why I broke up with you, now you seem to ignore the topic. You even changed from buying me spirit purple roses and bought babies breath and Lilies.” Princess Lilly lowered her gaze as she was talking to Samuel. She did not want him to notice the guilt painted in her face. Samuel explained that he is not angry at Lilly because of their breakup because he thinks it something the Princess did in a fit of anger. He thought Lilly blamed him for not coming back home often that now she will end up in another man’s arms. Samuel continued to explain that he changed the flowers because he now believes that he and the Princess are meant to live together in peace and harmony. No matter you he is, he still believes he deserved happiness. Lilly was overwhelmed by Samuel’s response; she could not find words to respond she just cuddled herself in his warm arms. They spent their time chatting and laughing until Lilly asked a big question. “Samuel, I know there is no way I can escape marring the demon Prince, but will you make me feel love before I end up with the mysterious husband? Will you make me a woman?” Samuel was puzzled by Lilly’s question, he thought he misheard her.
