CHAPTER ONE
Getting a gleams of the man she'd been trying to ignore for days now, victoria craven thought sneaking out of the bar would be a mission she could accomplish. Just when she finally got out of the clogged atmosphere, she bumped into him at the corner by the emergency exit.
"Are you trying to avoid me?" Liam Hilton asked the sweating and panting victoria, strands of her blonde hair stuck to her face.
"I don't know what you're talking about." she said and tried walking away, he held her back.
"Let me go."
"Yes, you're avoiding me. But why? what did i do wrong tori? Why this sudden change towards me?"
"I have told you to stop calling me that."
"That is what i've called you ever since we were kids and you've had no problem with it."
"I do now!"
"Why?!"
"Go to hell!" she walked away, running up the alley towards the road and he chased after her.
"Why tori, why does it bother you tori? talk to me tori...."
"Stop it!"
He pulled her hand, making her stop to face him; "No tori, tell me why i can't call you tori, you've always liked it when i call you that..tori."
"I hate it now!"
"Why?!"
"Because i hate you and never want to see your face around me again!" she screamed. Those words struck liam like a bullet to the chest, his tori hated him? How could that be? They had a good time together just three days ago, she was in his bed and it was just as he'd dreamed it would be, even better.
"You...you hate me." he mumbled, his foot moved backwards when his head asked him to go forward, he wanted to hug and kiss her until she loved him, until she could accept him. Victoria watched him step back from her as he propped against the wall, his eyes dropped and his hand raked his black hair, and before he could regain from the shock, she left.
The words echoed in his head over and over again, almost making him go crazy, opening his eyes, he couldn't find victoria.
"I have to make this right, i have to find out why she hates me....or Could it be that she already knows?.... No, no, no, f**k! Tori!" he yelled and ran after her in the direction he knew she went.
Two weeks Earlier
Waking up to the bright morning sun peeking through the edges of the curtain covering the hotel windows, Victoria Craven rubbed her eyes with the back of her hand. She stood up from the bed and walked towards the window, opening the curtains, she squinted and slowly adjusted her eyes to the morning sun.
Solvang sunrise was just as she remembered, with the cool morning breeze that comes with a calm serenity. Victoria never believed she would return to this county, solvang was where she grew up and she had the best childhood memories here. Especially during the christmas holidays with lots of festivals and exciting activities going on in the town, she remembered going shopping with her mother and sister for ornament to decorate the house and the tree. How could she have been so stupid to sell the house? Pulling away from her thoughts, she strolled into the bathroom to have a bath so she could get ready for the day.
Victoria stopped to buy a cup of latte, walking out of the coffee shop with her attention on her cellphone, she bumped into a hard surface;
"What the heck!" a male voice exclaimed
"I'm so sorry, i wasn't paying....." She paused mid sentence as she raised her head to look at the young man she almost spilled her latte on. The handsome young man stared right back at her with his sea green eyes wide open, he wore a jean and a white Tshirt that revealed his abs and muscles.
"Victoria Craven, what in-the-distant-galaxies are you doing here?"
She blinked and swallowed, "Liam Hilton,...you're....you've...."
"Changed? I know, you also look....amazing. But you haven't answered the question."
"This is my hometown liam, i miss it."
"I didn't think you still considered solvang 'home'."
"What are you talking about? I grew up here." she said as she leaned on her car, they stared at each other a while, it seemed like time stopped and there was no one there except the both of them. Memories of six years ago creeps up, then she looks away and clears her throat;
"I've got to go." Victoria said, she opened her car and got in, "I'll see you around."
"Soon, i hope." he said, she glanced at him one last time before she drove off. Victoria didn't think she would run into Liam so soon, she thought she would have bought back the house before she faced him, she couldn't imagine him knowing she sold her mother's house only to put a distance between them. The thought injected another acid shot to her stomach, which had been churning like a spinning wheel ever since she bumped into him.
She pulled up in front of the town's property management office, she walked in and saw a young lady who was probably three or four years younger than her;
"Excuse me, can i see the property agent?"
The young lady looked at her cheekily before saying; "He'll be here shortly."
Victoria turned, she saw an opened wooden double door, she walked through and sat on one of the chairs, she hoped this whole process wouldn't take long, she was already spending a lot from her savings at the hotel. The money she got on her retirement was only meant to buy back the house, then also get a space for the pastry shop she and her mom had always dreamed of running when she was a teenager.
Liam walked into the office and with a flirty smile, the lady ushered him to the waiting room. He walked in and saw victoria yet again, a fantasy novel covered her face and he could tell from the picture of a wolf on it. Her beautiful fair legs crossed on top another, she looked so elegant and even more beautiful than the last time he saw her. Damn, he'd had a thing for victoria craven since the first time he saw her, on his twelve year birthday, she walked into the school with a light blue princess ballgown and a tiara on her pretty blonde hair. Though he was two years older than her, they were both born on the same day and month, their classmates tagged them a couple ever since then.
"What do you ever see in these kind of books? They don't exist."
Dropping the book from her face, victoria stared at him in surprise; "Some of us like to think they do? It's called 'fantasy' for a reason?" seeing liam for the second time in one day, she frowned.
Liam chuckled, "Don't worry, I'm not stalking you."
She looked away, "I didn't think you were."
"You've always been easy to read Tori."
Victoria's heart began to thump hard, the charming way he called her brought back memories of the past rushing in, giving her chills. She was relieved she wore the chiffon long sleeve gown, he couldn't see the goosebumps that surfaced;
"What are you doing here?" she asked, distracting herself.
"I could say the same." Her head snapped at him, he laughed. "I need a spot for my workshop." he added; "I'm a painter."
"Oh, that is great." She averted her gaze, "I'll need a professional if i need a good job in painting my new pastry shop." It was liam's turn to frown, "I know, a nurse, now a pastry chef?" She sighed, "It's what my mom and i have always wanted to do since i was a teenager."
"Yeah, you loved to make cookies and the gingerbread man with her." He said. He covered her hand with his and squeezed a little; "I'm sorry, i know how hard it must have been with her gone."
They held each other's gaze for a moment, then the receptionist called;
"Miss?.... Mr Fletcher will see you now!"
She withdrew her hand and gave him a half smile as she hurriedly walked away from the waiting room, she stood in front of the agent's office to steady her beating heart before she stepped in.
