Victoria and Leah went to a coffee shop, they sat opposite each other and leah studied victoria's face.
"What happened?" leah asked.
It took half a minute for victoria to explain everything to leah, she sipped her latte and looked out into the street from the coffee shop. "Vicki, liam doesn't just know the buyer." leah said, victoria turned to look at her. "He... he is the buyer." she added.
Victoria's eyes widen, "What?"
"The name on the document is 'Zuri and frank Jones' but the original buyer is liam." Victoria gasped, "Maybe you should hear him out, he meant well vicki."
"No, you knew and you kept it from me."
"It wasn't mine to tell."
"So why tell me now?"
"Because the cat is already out of the bag and i don't want you to hate both of us. He suggested it to me and i supported him."
Victoria shook her head, she didn't know how to feel or react to this, but she knew she needed space from both of them. Standing up from her seat, she walked out of the coffee shop with leah trailing behind her, calling out to her. She got into her car and drove off without a care of how leah would get home.
'They knew i was hurting, they knew how bad i needed the house, they knew how mentally shaken i was about the mistake I'd done, they knew how scared i was. Yet they said nothing to me, they watched me spend several days with the fletchers, bothering about how improper it was for me to stay at their cabin. They didn't complain but they knew me well enough to know i loved privacy and hated to feel like a burden to anyone. I feel so hurt, i can't talk to any of them right now.' victoria thought to herself. Stepping on the gas, she sped up and drove towards the outskirt of the town, needing to put some distance between her and them.
"Where is she?" liam asked as he came to pick leah up.
Leah sighed, "Driven off to go hide somewhere i guess, you know how she can be."
"She rather wait out her anger, than react harshly and she'll have to apologize."
"Yeah."
"Did she tell you why she's upset though?"
Leah thought about it carefully, she decided they both talk about it themselves. "No, she didn't."
It's been two days since victoria left solvang and lodged in one of the hotels in santa barbara. A part of her scolded her for overreacting and the other stubbornly refused to hear anything liam had to say. She got into her car and drove back to town, on her way she spotted a nice dress she'd liked the previous day to the store for toiletries. She stopped and bought the red halter dress, she planned on going to the bar that evening to have fun before she faced them. Getting home, she had a long bath and got into the dress, she put on some make up and styled her hair, she wore a low heel slippers with a mini bag. She didn't take her car, she took a ride to the bar down town where they played country music and served beer in a cup. There were many young guys and ladies at the bar, they chatted, laughed and danced like teenagers. Victoria was grateful she had her mother's bone structure, her elegant body looked like a lady of twenty five, when in actual fact she was thirty. So she had no trouble blending in, she took a cup of beer and sat on the seat at the extreme end of the long counter, she could see who walked in from there.
Liam walked into the bar ten minutes later, victoria was on her second glass, she turned and spotted liam by the door staring around like he was looking for someone. A woman stood in front of him, she was flirting with him and victoria took the opportunity to sneak out of the counter without him noticing. But liam already did, he could recognize that body shape and blond hair in any crowd. He went into the crowd, she turned round the crowd towards the entrance and he smiled. He wanted her to believe she could escape him, then he got out through the emergency exit to confront her.
Back to two weeks ago.
He saw her running up the alley towards the road, he caught up with her and pulled her back before she stepped in front of a fast moving car.
"Do you want to get run over?"
"Let me go liam."
"Tell me why you hate me, what did i do wrong? What did you see?"
"What you didn't want me to, you bought my mother's house and kept it away from me. Just when i was getting over the fact that you didn't show up at the funeral, you didn't show up when i needed you, you left me on my own liam."
"Tori...."
"It's victoria!" she yelled, all the pains of six years ago came rushing in like a tsunami disaster inside her. "For six years i thought you didn't show up because of the thick brunette i saw at your place...."
"Zuri is my cousin."
"I don't think i care about that right now, the fact that you didn't show up when i needed you the most. The fact that you knew how much the house bothered me and you kept mute about it is what i can't forgive you for liam."
She turned and ran across the road with tears covering her vision, she barely escaped the moving cars. But the one who chased after her wasn't so lucky, as a loud screeching sound drew attentions, then came the clash and a loud thud. Victoria turned around and froze at the sight before her, she immediately went pale and cold as she saw liam lying still on the ground.
