THE WOLF WHO CHOSE ME
CHAPTER 1(THE BEGINNING OF EVERYTHING) 👇👇👇👇 The first thing Aria Vale noticed about Blackwood was the silence. It wasn't the peaceful kind. It was the kind that made you feel as though the entire forest was holding its breath. She stared through the car window as towering trees passed by, their branches twisting together above the narrow road. The sky was dark despite the early hour, covered by thick clouds that made the town look almost forgotten by the rest of the world. “Almost there,” her aunt said from the driver's seat. Aria nodded without looking away from the window. Blackwood. That was her new home. At seventeen, Aria had already learned that life rarely asked for permission before changing everything. One week ago, she had been living in a busy city surrounded by familiar streets, familiar faces, and memories she wished she could forget. Now she was moving to a town she had never heard of until recently. A town surrounded by an enormous forest. A town where people seemed to know things they weren't willing to explain. And a town that, for some strange reason, made the back of her neck prickle whenever she looked at the trees. Her aunt glanced at her through the mirror. “You've barely spoken since we left.” “I'm just tired.” “You'll feel better once you settle in.” Aria forced a small smile. “I hope so.” The car turned onto a long road lined with old houses. Blackwood wasn't what she expected. There were beautiful homes with large gardens, small shops along the main street, and an old church standing at the center of town. Yet something about the place felt different. People stopped talking whenever the car passed. Some watched her through their windows. Others simply stared. Aria frowned. “Why is everyone looking at us?” Her aunt's hands tightened around the steering wheel. “They're curious. New people don't come here often.” “That doesn't explain why they look scared.” Her aunt didn't answer. And that silence bothered Aria more than anything else. Eventually, the car stopped in front of a large old house surrounded by trees. “This is it.” Aria stepped out. The cold wind immediately swept through her hair. She looked toward the forest behind the house. For one brief second, she thought she saw something move between the trees. A shadow. Large. Fast. Then it disappeared. “Aria?” She blinked. Her aunt was standing beside the car. “Are you coming?” “Yeah.” Aria took one last look at the forest before walking inside. She didn't see the pair of golden eyes watching her from between the trees. That night, Aria couldn't sleep. The unfamiliar room felt too quiet. She lay beneath the blankets, staring at the ceiling while rain tapped against the window. Everything about Blackwood felt strange. The people. The forest. Even the way her aunt had reacted whenever Aria asked questions. She reached for her phone. 12:47 a.m. Aria sighed and sat up. Maybe some fresh air would help. She quietly opened her bedroom window. Cold air rushed inside. And then she heard it. A howl. Long. Deep. Powerful. Aria froze. Another howl answered from somewhere farther away. She moved closer to the window. The forest was almost completely dark. But something inside her urged her to look. She couldn't explain it. It felt like a pull. Like something was waiting for her. Aria grabbed her jacket and quietly left the house. She knew she probably shouldn't be walking toward a forest in the middle of the night. But curiosity won. The moment she stepped beneath the trees, the atmosphere changed. The wind became colder. The sounds of the town disappeared behind her. Even the rain seemed quieter. Aria wrapped her arms around herself. “Okay,” she whispered. “This is officially a terrible idea.” A branch snapped somewhere ahead. She stopped. Her heart raced. “Hello?” Nothing. Then another sound. A low growl. Aria slowly stepped backward. Her foot caught on a root, and she stumbled. She looked up. Two enormous eyes stared at her from the darkness. Blue. Bright. Unnaturally beautiful. Aria couldn't move. A massive black wolf stepped out from behind the trees. For several seconds, neither of them moved. The wolf was enormous, far larger than any ordinary wolf Aria had ever seen. Its black fur blended into the darkness, except for the faint silver glow of moonlight across its back. Aria's fear told her to run. But something else told her to stay. The wolf took one slow step toward her. Aria stepped backward. Another step. She swallowed. “Don't come any closer.” The wolf stopped. And then something impossible happened. Its expression changed. Not into anger. Not hunger. Recognition. As if it had been searching for her. As if it already knew exactly who she was. Aria felt a strange warmth spread through her chest. She didn't understand it. She only knew one thing. She had never seen this wolf before. Yet somehow... It didn't feel like a stranger. Suddenly, a sharp pain flashed through her head. Aria gasped and grabbed the tree beside her. Images rushed through her mind. A silver moon. A burning symbol. A pair of glowing eyes. And a voice she couldn't understand. Then everything vanished. Aria collapsed to her knees. When she looked up again, the wolf was gone. Only paw prints remained in the wet earth. Aria stared at them, breathing heavily. “What... was that?” Far away, inside the walls of the Blackwood Pack's territory, a young man suddenly opened his eyes. Kael Draven, Alpha of the Blackwood Pack, sat upright in his bed. His wolf was restless. For the first time in years, it had broken through his control. Mate. The single word echoed inside his mind. Kael stood immediately. His expression hardened. “Impossible.” His wolf answered with a growl. She is here. Kael walked toward the window and looked toward the forest. He could feel it. Something had changed. Someone had entered Blackwood. Someone the pack had been waiting for. And somewhere beyond those trees stood a girl who had no idea that her arrival had just awakened a secret buried for generations. A secret that would change everything. Aria Vale had come to Blackwood. And the wolf had chosen her.
