The big bad boss

Alissa POV He was... Oh my... I stared at the man that just entered the room. The boss himself. You really couldn't miss that clear aura of power and authority that was coming off of him. I felt a weird urge to give him a little bow. I knew that he was more than just a CEO of course. This just confirmed my suspicions. He was a mob boss for sure. It wasn't just the waves of 'I rule all that I see' that came off of him either. It was the way he looked too. He looked... Well the word 'good' didn't do him justice. He was tall. I was horrible at estimating heights, but he was definitely over 6 ft. tall. His height wasn't the only intimidating factor though. He was built. He was wearing a well-tailored dark grey suit with a white shirt and a blue tie. And none of that formal attire could hide the fact that he had muscles. A lot of muscles, but not in a bodybuilder kind of way. Tall and broad. Oh my... And then there was his face. He was a little tanned like he spent sufficient time outdoors in the sun. Maybe he worked out outside. My mind drifted to a place it shouldn’t go where I pictured my new boss running in the woods behind the office with no shirt on and his toned abs glistening with sweat. I could feel my heart beating a little faster at the thought. I quickly refocused my attention back onto his face. His high cheekbones and slightly ruffled black hair gave him the look of a male model. No... Of some Greek God. And then my eyes met his and I got lost in them. I have read that type of nonsense in romance novels before and I never believed it to be an actual thing, but I really did lose myself for a second. They were a beautiful stormy grey color and they held some very intense emotion that I couldn't quite place. So yeah, he didn't look good. He looked divine. And he smelled really nice too. Kind of like fresh bread and cinnamon. Which was a weird scent for an aftershave or something similar. Maybe he baked in the morning? That would make him even more perfect. We stood there staring at each other for a while. I wondered what he thought of me. And then I remembered the ink all over me and it snapped me out of my reverie and right back into the cold, hard reality. It was my first day at my new job and I was staring at my new boss like a hormonal teenager while covered in printer ink. This was going really well... "Uhm. The printer sort of exploded", I said. Which was brilliant, because he probably hadn't noticed that yet. Right, I needed to be normal and professional and I needed to do it right now. I straightened my back and tried again. "So sorry, I forgot to introduce myself. I am Alissa, your temporary PA. I tried to print the papers for the meeting you have coming up, but I had a bit of a run in with the printer. I will print the papers at a different printer, have someone come to fix this one and I will go home to change when you are in your meeting", I finished with what I hoped was a polite and professional smile. He still looked at me with a bit of a frown on his face. I wasn't sure what to do, so I just kept on talking. "I think the printer on the second floor is connected to this computer as well. I will print out the papers on that one then, shall I? Oh and can I get you some coffee to start the day?" I noticed my voice became strangely cheery and slightly higher. "No coffee, thank you", he said with a deep voice that made my insides turn to jelly. "See to it that you fix this", he continued, waving his hand at the messed up printer. Then he gave me another frown and disappeared into his office, closing the door behind him. I let out a sigh of relief and not just because he didn't want coffee and I still didn’t know how to work the coffee machine properly (oh so many buttons). I was relieved to be rid of his overwhelming presence. It was just too much. I walked over to the computer and started to try to figure out how to print on the second floor printer while chanting to myself ‘you are a strong, professional woman and you can do this’. -------------------------- David POV As I close the door to my office behind me, I let out a sigh of relief. At least now I didn’t have to see her anymore and make pleasant small talk. Though to be fair I don’t think I even did that. It had just been too overwhelming. Her scent was a lot, but then there were her looks. She was just… perfect. I had never really stopped to think about what the perfect woman would look like. I had been with an array of different looking woman in the past and I never thought I had a type. But Alissa Hayworth was very much my type. Of course she was, she was my mate after all. Beautiful shiny, strawberry blonde hair that just about touched her shoulders combined with flawless pale skin and big doe eyes that were so blue it could make a man feel like he was drowning in them. She was short and slim and she had awakened some type of disturbing protection instinct in me. She had looked at me in a way I couldn’t quite put my finger on but that had made my wolf very pleased with himself. It had taken a lot of effort not to growl out ‘mine’ and just grab her. And then she had started to talk and her voice was just as perfect as the rest of her was. The sound was somehow both exhilarating and calming to me. I had been so occupied with taking in all the different aspects of her that I hadn’t noticed that she was covered in printer ink until she had pointed it out. Which was just great… An Alpha wolf that was so distracted by the mere presence of his mate that he couldn’t even spot the very obvious anymore. And another very obvious aspect of Alissa hadn’t hit me until she started talking: she was human. A human mate. As if the mere concept of a mate hadn’t made me vulnerable enough, the moon goddess wanted to mock me some more by giving me one that couldn’t even pull her own weight in my world. She would freak out if she ever found out what I really am. Not that she would… I would very carefully keep her at a distance. I would only see her in the office anyway and what dumb things could I possibly do there that would give my big secret away? “That means you need to stay low too”, I warned my wolf. I got no response. He was still too wrapped up in meeting our mate. I heard the door to Sarah’s office close and I let out another sigh. Alissa was probably off to the second floor printer to collect the papers I needed for my meeting. Another problem about this woman. Not only was she messing up my life by being my mate, but she hadn’t exactly made a good first impression as my PA either. What on earth was Sarah thinking hiring her? Had she known Alissa was my mate? I wouldn’t put it past Sarah. Always meddling in my life. But she wasn’t here now and although she left me a disaster in the shape of a divine looking woman, I would withstand it and I would overcome any problems that were coming my way. Like I always did. ‘It’s only temporary’ I kept chanting to myself as I prepared myself for the upcoming meeting.
