“I have a follow-up question,” I announce to Kieran a few minutes into our hike. “A follow-up to which initial question, again?” I try not to blush. “The one about why you like me.” He looks amused. “Right. That one. Go ahead.” “Does it have to do with… before? You know… when we were in school together?” We haven’t broached this subject much.
