Prologue
The lonely night makes her unable to fall asleep no matter how much she twist and turn. She have been trying every method she know to shut her eyes and make herself fall into a slumber but nothing seems to be working. She even hugged her favourite teddy bear tightly, hoping that it would at least help her. She whispered to her teddy bear to stay with her. It’s a common thing to say because kids really love to imagine their fantasy world and it goes the same for the little girl who seems like she won’t be able to sleep because of the nightmare she had. She take a look at her brother who are now fast asleep on his bed. She called out for him but it seem like he was too in deep in his sleep to even hear her call of help. The little girl was terrified as she heard the sound of the glass shattering and the window got slammed open by the wind. The thunderstorms noises makes her feel like she is in danger, with nothing to help her. The little girl shuddered delicately. After a few minutes , she could faintly make out a woman’s scream. She pushed the blanket away from her body and tried to wake her brother up again but it is to no avail. She failed. He’s sleeping like a bunch of logs without a care for the world. She could hear the scream again and she intended to see what happened outside the comfort of her room. She wants to get her mom but her mom wasn’t there. Her dad isn’t there because he has to settle his emergency surgery so maybe he will come home late. Her curiosity were enheightened when she heard her mom arguing with someone. Relying fully on her hearing because she couldn’t see a thing, she could make out the voice of the other person. The person arguing with her mom is a middle-aged lady. She slowly stepped down the stairs to check what her mom was doing. She stood on the stair at a loss for word when she saw her mom struggling against the lady who seems like she’s trying to kill her mom.
“Mom!?”she shouted, scared that her mom is about to get stab by the lady but her mom couldn’t process the girl’s voice. All she could think about is on how to get away. The little girl run to her mom and pulled her mom’s pyjamas. She ignored the intruder, her mind filled with her mom’s safety. She thinks that maybe her mom could feel the harsh tug on her pyjamas and she did. She turned her head to look at the girl in the eyes and shouted…
“Run away, princess! Run,” the girl got pushed aside as her mom fought with the intruder. “Run! I said run!” she warned the little girl times and times again but who else can handle it when the person they love the most is in danger? The little girl wasn’t afraid of the lady, if anything, she despised her for hurting her mother. So, she charged towards the woman and pushed her so that she fell on the floor before proceeding to bite the lady’s wrist with all her might. The lady scream in pain.
Her mom is now laying in a pool of her own blood as she tried to crawl towards the girl and save her. If she can’t save herself, the least she could do is save the little girl. “Princess don’t….” but the little girl’s mind is too clouded with anger and she once again bite the lady’s hand aggressively and not only left a wound behind, but with some blood gushing out of the wound. The lady’s eyes sees the girl as nothing but an interruption so she stood up and pushed the little girl with all her might and it caused the little girl’s head to bump into a sharp object and slowly losing her consciousness.
“No! Princess!” The little girl could barely make out her mom’s voice and the warmth that surrounds her as her mom embraced her petite frame. Her head began to bleed and somehow her vision is not able to make a clear view of the scene. The last thing she heard was the scream that called out for her name desperately before everything goes black for her.
She collapsed until someone called her name once again. It’s her uncle and a boy? She is still half awake and she tried to wake up. Her uncle helped her too but when she tried to turn around, her uncle hugged her all of sudden.
“Please, I don’t want you see this on your birthday so please don’t turn around. Please…” her uncle said with a trembling voice and tears running down his face. The little girl was curious about what happened and where her mom is and how she’s doing. Is she fine? Did she won the fight? Many questions lingers in her mind that she wants to know the answer to all of them. The little girl lay her eyes on the little boy who stood besides her uncle. His eyes show that he was traumatized. The little girl wonder what he saw.
“Uncle…..” she slowly called out.
“Yes dear…” her uncle answered, still shedding tears.
“Where’s my mom…” the little girl asked with the innocent eyes. Her uncle was speechless and aren’t able to say anything to the girl.
“The police will come later ….” He replied but he knows that’s not the exact answer that she wants to hear but it’s better than just being quiet and not say anything. However, the girl wasn’t having it.
“Where’s mom… why did police have to come here?” The little girl started to shed her tears too. She doesn’t know what happened and a part of her is aching in pain, knowing it won’t be a good thing if her uncle is beating around the bush like this.
“She….”
“Princess? Uncle? Why are you here and who’s this boy?” Her brother asked. He haven’t take notice of the thing that is happening in the room.
“Princess, what happened-----" Her brother goes silent right away when he finally saw everything. His knees feels like it’s about to collapse in that situation. He started to cry out loud.
“Mom!!!!” Her brother shouted. The little girl suddenly turned around and saw everything too. She saw her mom’s body hanging down the ceiling like a scene from a horror movie that she watched with her brothers. The sirens have been heard, indicating the police and ambulance are coming. The little girl collapsed from too much shock and the scene changed to a total chaos.
“The world feels like it have stopped rotating when we are apart and I couldn’t even meet you now since you leave me without saying anything.....”
“Don’t be shock when you get to know everything about me, be honest and don’t hide your feelings.. I will accept it with open heart.”
“Don’t blame yourself… it’s not your fault for being tested with a terrible situation. Remember it’s just a game of the world… god gave it to us.”
“Don’t ruin your youth and build your outstanding symphony in your own life and just named it The Youth Symphony…”
