summer break
Bianca strolled into the bustling hallways of the school, her books clutched tightly in her arms. Summer break had come and gone, leaving behind a mix of excitement and anxiety for the new school year. She caught sight of her two best friends, Jennie and Cherry, and a smile lit up her face as she joined them.
"Hey, you guys!" Bianca greeted, her voice bubbling with enthusiasm. "How was your summer?"
Jennie rolled her eyes playfully. "Boring as usual. My parents dragged me to a million museums."
Cherry chimed in, her face beaming. "I went to the beach and met this really cute lifeguard."
The trio laughed and chatted animatedly as they made their way to their lockers and then to their first class: math. Cherry and Bianca shared the same math class, which was probably the only reason they managed to survive the subject. As they entered the classroom, Bianca couldn't help but let out an exaggerated sigh. The math teacher, Mr. Thompson, stood at the front of the room, his bald head shining under the fluorescent lights. His monotone voice droned on about equations and formulas, and Bianca felt her eyelids growing heavy.
Before she knew it, her head was bobbing, and she found herself drifting off into a half-conscious state. She dreamt of being on a beach, the sound of crashing waves drowning out the teacher's voice. The dream was blissful, and she would've happily stayed in it if not for the shrill ring of the bell, jolting her back to reality. Bianca yawned and stretched, her friends giggling at her drowsy state.
"Someone had a good nap," Jennie teased, nudging Bianca.
"Ugh, Mr. Thompson should be banned from morning classes," Bianca groaned, earning nods of agreement from her friends.
The three of them made their way to the school cafe, the scent of freshly brewed coffee and the hum of chatter filling the air. They settled into their usual corner booth, the excitement of the new year coursing through them.
"Have you guys heard what Owen Menendez did over the summer?" Cherry asked, her eyes wide with curiosity.
Bianca raised an eyebrow. "Owen Menendez? You mean the handsome but rebellious bad boy?"
Cherry nodded, a mischievous glint in her eye. "Yeah, apparently he pulled off some crazy stunt at the amusement park. Rode the roller coaster backward or something!"
Jennie leaned in, her interest piqued. "And rumor has it, he didn't even flinch."
Bianca shrugged nonchalantly. "He's my neighbor, you know. I see him around sometimes."
Jennie's eyes practically sparkled. "You've got to spill the deets, Bianca!"
Bianca chuckled, shaking her head. "Honestly, I don't know much. He's just... Owen. Mysterious and all that."
Cherry waggled her eyebrows playfully. "Come on, there must be something juicy about him."
Bianca leaned back in her seat, a thoughtful expression crossing her face. "Well, he does have this intense aura. Like he's hiding something big. But who knows? Maybe he's just good at keeping secrets."
As their laughter filled the air, the trio delved into more light-hearted conversations, oblivious to the adventures and challenges that the school year held in store for them.
