Chapter IV - King

846 Words
Deni knew she told that little rascal to f**k off, as far away as possible but that was all before she knew her watch had been stolen right in front of her. She was impressed — that had been some impressive skills and how she didn’t notice, was beyond her — upset regardless because she couldn’t find her again, right after she walked away she noticed her missing watch but it was too late as the kid vanished. Today hadn’t been any helpful either, as their was no sign of her and she had searched each store in the market — each time she entered one, a number of people would look over, others even quiet down as though they were expecting some fight or commotion. Well not yet, at least. Just by her luck through all the commotion in the market she still heard a man shouting, he was at a distance and it was noisy — but when he got closer she heard. “Stop that thief!” That’s when her eyes searched for the voice — and her lucky day it was indeed. The same hood was on their head, the exact same bandana covering their face and with her estimation they were the same height as the girl she met yesterday. Tailing were two men, one younger than the other and a bit closer to the thief, almost grabbing her — they were running towards her direction. By the way she gripped the brown bag — that had to be what they were after — what better way to get revenge on a thief then to get them caught. Exactly, none. As she was about to run past her, dodging her like how she ran through the entire market — she was unsuccessful as movement was refrained. Deni jumped her — in a literal sense — they were both laying on the dirty floor, she just wanted to escape even if it meant letting the bag Deni snatched from her go. Unsuccessful yet again as Deni had her hand gripping her hand — well karma was being a real b***h right now. The two men were still at a distance but closing in on them, taking a peek in the back she found an apple, a small black bag probably filled with silver — that she stole — and a knife. Standing, she pulled the girl up as well — her grip wasn’t loose, she wasn’t going to risk her getting away this time. “You little piece of—” his words were cut off with the violent shove of the bag into his chest. “Hey! That’s mine—” her complaint had been turned into nothing but a muffled cried as she struggled with Deni’s hand over her mouth. Giving the men pointed looks that clearly indicated they f**k off right now. “Thank you very much.” the older one had mumbled pulling the the other by his Shirt, stopping him from checking the bag — once they were out of sight Deni pulled the girl away. And once they were also out of sight, she pulled her into an alley, if it would even be called that. Her hold on her mouth was released. “I told you to f**k off—”. “But I f*****g did!” The girl interrupted glaring at Deni — she was upset, she worked really hard to steal those silver, how dare she just give them away — even if it was to annoy her. “With my watch.” Deni finished, her gaze on the girl’s left wrist — she was even wearing her watch. How brave. “Oh that.” she mumbled giving her a sheepish smile. “I found it on the floor.” she lied rubbing her neck, unable to meet her gaze. “Give it back.” Deni had her hand held out as she spoke the next words. “Why would I do that, you gave that old bastard my stash!” “I gave him a bag with an apple.” “Wait what?” Taking something out her back pocket she showed the girl — she was puzzled at why and how she had done that, she hadn’t even seen her open the bag. Opportunities didn’t come twice, that was a certain fact — the girl quickly snatched back the money bag and her knife. “Give me the watch.” “I’ll give you but let’s make a deal since you clearly love me.” Deni glared at the girl, loosing her patience — she had already wasted enough time. “Teach me how to fight, you know as a way to make everything up to me.” She added waving the watch at her. Deni grabbed it, “I won’t be doing that.” she mumbled securing the watch on her wrist while she walked away, her back facing the kid. “You will, trust me! My name is King!” she heard her shout, yet still walked away.
