YESTERDAY CALLING: THE NEW RETRO RADIO PLAYERS PRESENT.…When The Radio Red Killer was first published (1997) a group of audio drama fans formed The New Retro Radio Players and produced a series of simulated radio broadcasts in bookstores around the San Francisco Bay. The Players were Lori Leigh Gielegham, Gregory Tiede, Patricia Lupoff, Ken Lupoff, and myself (RAL). The first performance drew a tiny audience, and that was just as well, as the show was pretty ragged. However, each time we put on our act, the performance was smoother and more nearly professional, and the audiences grew and continued to grow until we were acting to SRO houses. The whole project was a grand success, my only regret being that no recording—audio or video—survives. What follows is our script.
