"I made this arrangement with all my savings because I wanted to prove my love for you and also make you happy," Richard said after racking his brain for a very long time. He sounded so convincing that no one would detect that he was lying. He mentally applauded himself for coming up with such a believable lie.
What? Did she hear him correctly or were her ears playing pranks on her? Rebecca asked herself.
"Sorry, please, can you repeat what you just said?" Rebecca asked with a smile. She didn't want him to notice that something was off with her.
"I said, I made this arrangement with all my savings because I wanted to prove my love for you and also make you happy," Richard said, repeating the exact words he said earlier.
Rebecca looked at him like he had suddenly developed two heads.
