The betrayal Alessandra pov
Clara, what do you think—pink or blue lingerie to tell him the news?” She rolled her eyes. “I don’t need details on what you’ll be wearing to get dicked down, Les.” I laughed, my voice ringing out with excitement . “I know, I know. But I’m just… so happy. I can’t believe I’m pregnant, I and Damian and have been waiting for this moment.” “Me too, girl!” she squealed. And right there, on the sidewalk, we stopped to do a little happy dance, squealing like absolute idiots in the middle of the road. Then— Grrr grrr. My phone buzzed in my bag. I glanced at the screen. “It’s my boss. I need to take this.” Clara nodded, her face still glowing with excitement. “Go ahead.” “Hello?” “Alessandra Hayes?” “Yes, that’s me.” “I’m so sorry to do this over the phone, but it’s urgent. We’re going to need you to come in and clear out your desk.” “What?” My stomach dropped. “I don’t understand—what are you saying?” My voice shook, my heart hammering in my chest. This couldn’t be happening. “We don’t need you here anymore. If you have any questions, please take it up with your husband.” “My husband?” I blinked, confusion flooding my brain. “What does Damian have to do with any of this?” Beep. She hung up. I was left standing there, my phone still pressed to my ear. I was so speechless. I couldn’t breathe. I couldn’t even think. “I don’t understand,” I whispered, my words barely making it past my lips. Everything had been perfect. I had a job I loved, one of the head designers, and I just secured a major contract for the firm. What did Damian have to do with any of this? I couldn’t even finish the thought. My legs buckled, and I felt my body sway. “Alessandra!” Clara rushed to my side, catching me before I collapsed to the ground. “What happened?” “I just lost my job,” I whispered, barely able to breathe. My chest ached like something was slowly crushing it. “What?!” “I don’t know what’s going on,” I muttered, frantically pulling out my phone. My hands shook as I dialed Damian’s number. I pulled out my phone with trembling fingers, dialed Damian’s number, and waited. It rang for a while, but he didn’t pick up. My heart began to pound harder with every unanswered ring. “Come on, Damian. Pick up,” I whispered under my breath, but my voice cracked, and the fear grew deeper, gnawing at me. Why wasn’t he answering? “Call him again,” Clara urged, panic creeping into her voice. I did. Same result. Clara’s eyes narrowed, her voice suddenly serious. “Let’s go. Something’s not right.” I nodded, trying to breathe through the pressure building in my chest. My mind was spinning, thoughts rushing through me faster than I could catch them. Clara stayed close, her hand on my arm as we walked toward my car. Her voice was low and soothing, she was trying to calm me, but I wasn’t listening. Not really. I wasn’t here. My mind was elsewhere. Then, the ding of my phone broke through the fog. I didn’t even have to look. Damian. It had to be him. But when I opened it… Everything stopped. I froze. My breath caught in my throat. My knees buckled before I even realized what was happening. “Alessandra? What is it?” Clara’s voice snapped me back to reality, sharp with concern. I couldn’t speak. I just handed her my phone, barely able to hold it myself. It was a video of Damian… with a woman. A beautiful woman. With Long blond hair, legs that went on forever, a designer bag hanging off her arm like she belonged there. She was leaning into Damian, laughing, smiling, walking together into his office. Even touching the beard I helped him shave. And Damian? He wasn’t pulling away. No. He opened the door for her. That was my office!! My husband. I couldn’t breathe. The weight of it crashed down on me. The ride to Sterling Enterprises was a blur of streetlights and car horns. l used to feel proud walking through those doors. Proud to be married to the man who built this empire. Proud to be his. Now, it felt like walking into a stranger’s world. A world that didn’t belong to me anymore. I barely waited for the car to stop before I pushed the door open, stepping out onto the pavement, my legs shaky. I didn’t know how to feel. How to breathe. The security guards at the door recognized me instantly but didn’t move to open it. “Ma’am… it’s quite late—” “I’m here to see Damian. Let me through.” “I’m sorry, Mr. Sterling is in a meeting. We can’t—” “I said let me through,” I snapped, not caring how I sounded anymore. I pushed past them before they could stop me, Clara following closely behind, her face a mask of concern. Inside, the building was quiet. The lights were dim, and the sound of my heels clicking on the marble floor echoed too loudly in the silence. I made my way to the elevator, pressing the button to the penthouse level, my heart hammering with every passing second. When the doors opened, I saw Damian’s secretary, sitting behind her desk, her eyes glued to her phone. She looked up in shock when she saw me. “Mrs. Sterling?” “I need to see my husband.” “Ma’am, he’s in a—” “Out of my way,” I growled. I didn’t wait for her to protest. I stormed down the hallway toward his office. But before I could grab the handle, a voice stopped me dead in my tracks. “Pick between her and Sterling Enterprises.” My breath caught in my throat. I couldn’t move. “What?” Damian’s voice followed. “Isabella, what are you saying?” My knees went weak at the name. “I’m saying would you rather have me—or that b***h you call a wife?” There was a long, agonizing silence. I couldn’t breathe. “…Of course I choose you.” The world spun around me. I barely stopped myself from crumpling to the floor. I pressed my back to the wall beside the door, as if it could hold me up, as if anything could. Inside, Isabella laughed softly, victorious. “Good choice, baby,” she purred. The door was slightly open. The crack was small, but enough for me to see everything. I turned, almost unwillingly, and peeked through the gap. Isabella. She was stunning. Even in the dim light, her dress clung to her like a second skin. Her arms were wrapped around Damian’s neck as she tilted his head up and kissed him. Her eyes flicked up mid-kiss and met mine. She smiled. It wasn’t sweet. It was cruel. She kissed him harder, possessively, while staring straight at me. And Damian… didn’t stop her. I covered my mouth with both hands, my body trembling. The room spun, and my phone slipped from my grasp, hitting the marble floor with a soft clack. My world shattered in a thousand pieces. I was broken, and all I could do was watch. Everything inside me broke—my love, my trust, my sense of who we were, who I thought we were. The life we built, the future I believed in… all of it was gone.
