I lost my balance as my bottom connected with the couch. I let myself sink into the comfortable couch as I drowned myself in Elijah's words.
"Are you sure you heard him saying that?" I asked shakingly. My hatred for him was increasing moment by moment. How could he be this cruel?
"Why the f**k would I lie?" He scoffed in annoyance.
The ground beneath me trembled as I processed his words.

I wouldn't let this happen. I couldn't. If he hated me why did he want me to marry him. It wasn't like he was giving me a choice.
