The Queen of Shadows

The silence was suffocating. No one dared to move. Lyra stood beside Kael, her heart pounding so loudly she could hear every beat. Across from her, Alpha Lucian stared in disbelief. His fists trembled. "Lyra..." he called again, his voice softer this time. "Come home. I'll make everything right." Lyra laughed bitterly. The sound carried no joy. "Home?" she asked. "You called that place my home?" She took a step forward, her silver eyes filled with pain. "Was it home when you rejected me before the entire pack?" Lucian lowered his gaze. "Was it home when you watched me collapse and did nothing?" The warriors behind Lucian shifted uncomfortably. Many had witnessed her humiliation, yet none had defended her. Tears gathered in Lyra's eyes, but she refused to let them fall. "You looked into my eyes... and told me to leave." "You didn't just reject me." "You destroyed me." Lucian's chest tightened. Every word pierced his heart like a blade. "I know," he whispered. "And I regret it." Kael stepped forward, placing himself between them. "Regret changes nothing." A powerful aura exploded from his body. Black flames rose around him, twisting through the air like living dragons. The Silver Moon warriors staggered backward. Some dropped to one knee under the crushing pressure. "This..." one warrior gasped. "...this is an Alpha's aura?" "No." The Moon Priest's face turned deathly pale. "It is far beyond an Alpha's aura." "It is the aura of the First King." Lucian growled and released his own Alpha aura. Golden energy burst from his body. Leaves swirled violently around him. The two terrifying powers collided. BOOM! The shockwave shattered nearby trees. The earth cracked beneath their feet. Lyra covered her face as the force nearly threw her backward. Kael didn't move an inch. Lucian, however, slid several steps across the ground. His eyes widened. Impossible... He was one of the strongest Alphas alive. How could he be pushed back so easily? Kael looked at him without emotion. "You are strong." "But compared to me..." "...you are still a cub." Humiliation burned across Lucian's face. Before anyone could speak again... A chilling laugh echoed through the forest. "Hehehe..." The laughter came from everywhere. And nowhere. The temperature dropped instantly. Dark mist spread between the trees. Every wolf instinctively stepped back. Even Kael frowned. "I know that aura..." The mist slowly gathered into the shape of a woman. She wore a flowing black gown that seemed woven from shadows. Long violet hair reached her waist. Her glowing purple eyes sparkled with dangerous amusement. She smiled. "So..." "The Devil Alpha has finally escaped." Her gaze shifted to Lyra. "And she is even more beautiful than I imagined." Kael's expression became colder than ice. "Morgana." The mysterious woman bowed dramatically. "It's been a thousand years, Kael." "I've missed you." The Moon Priest's staff slipped from his trembling hands. His lips shook. "It can't be..." "The Queen of Shadows..." "The witch who started the Great Werewolf War..." Fear spread through the Silver Moon warriors. Some turned to run. Others stood frozen. Morgana laughed. "You humans never learn." She raised one graceful hand. The sky turned black. A giant magic circle appeared above the forest. Lightning flashed through crimson clouds. Then... Thousands of shadow creatures began crawling out of the darkness. Their glowing eyes fixed on Lyra. Morgana smiled wickedly. "I didn't wait a thousand years to lose you now." She pointed directly at Lyra. "Bring me the girl." The shadow army charged.
