I can't believe it. I was staring at it live and direct but I still couldn't believe it.
My eyes popped as I scrolled through my husband's phone. Tons of nude pics and slutty messages, but not from me.
My heart sank, it felt like a big blow to my gut feeling. I had been noticing the signs but have been brushing it off. How could he?
My eyes scanned through the room, 5 good years of marriage. Five good years and this! The only thought in my head was to go and confront Ethan. Confront Ethan, confront Ethan.
I took a deep breath and walked towards the office, phone in hand ready to confront him.
I pushed the door to his office open and he looked up at me from his computer. His eyes raced over and glanced at his phone in my hand. I could see a sense of guilt hinted across his face. He knew something was up.
I was so angry I slammed the phone to the desk. He got up in shock and yelled at me.
“Sophia, what is the matter with you?”
“We need to talk. Now! Ethan.” I said swallowing the saliva in my throat painfully. It hurt me so badly to see the man that I loved do this to me. The man that I made love to for the first time and gave my virginity to.
The most precious gift that a woman can ever give a man. It really hurt so badly.
Ethan's expression changed from guilty to defensive in a split second. “Sophia, it's not what you think.”
“Don't lie to me!” I cut him off, “I know everything now.” Tears prickled down my cheek, “I saw everything. The photos, the videos, the messages, the money you sent her. You are having an affair with my best friend.” I swallowed harder.
“My best friend,” my voice weakened, “I want a divorce.”
I stood there, my knees weak while he looked at me baffled.
“A divorce? You can't be serious Sophia.”
“Yes I am Ethan. I can't take this anymore,” I cried, “I have been seeing it, I have noticed it. Your late nights at work, your sudden interest in appearances. I can see the signs.”
“You're just overreacting,” he stated, “whatever you saw right there was just a moment of weakness. I needed someone to comfort me that's all. It meant nothing. I mean you don't even put in the effort to look sexy for me anymore just because you're married and like they all say men are polygamous in nature so just accept it.”
My eyes blazed in anger, “A mistake? A moment of weakness? That I don't look sexy? Is that why you've been paying her off Ethan? Is that why you have been supporting her lifestyle? That's not a mistake my darling husband, that's a choice. And you've chosen her over me and our marriage.”
The room fell silent. The only sound that could be heard was my violent breathing and the clock on the wall. Ethan's face went pale as he looked at me, his eyes raced around the room as if he was looking for an escape route for all these. But no honey, there's no escape route. The only escape route here is a divorce.
The doorbell rang. Nobody answered. Then it rang for the second time.
My eyes peered towards the sound and I whispered under my breath, “who could that be?”
“I think it's Rachel.” Ethan replied.
My world stopped. My best friend. My beloved best friend. A betrayer was standing right at my doorstep with no shame at all.
My eyes widened in horror and I stared at Ethan, “Answer it!”
Ethan hesitated. I could see his eyes move around with unease but I didn't give a f**k.
Finally, he agreed and started moving to the entrance slowly, not rushed at all. I followed him from a distance to watch the scene. Ethan got close to the door and held the door handle. He took a deep breath hesitating for a bit, then he finally snapped the door open.
“Hey baby, I've missed you so much.” She wrapped her hands around his neck seductively.
Her hands roamed around his chest. Ethan was trying to pass the message to her with his eyes but she was too consumed to notice.
I just stayed back where I was fuming. I was so angry. She started kissing him on the neck and whispering dirty things to him. Ethan glanced at me in guilt.
I pulled out my phone and took a good shot then put it back into my pocket. Enough of the love play. Time to get this drama started.
I walked forward, my heels clicking on the floor while clapping. I applauded.
“Bravo, Rachel. Bravo.” I said sarcastically, “What a performance.”
Rachel's eyes flung open looking at me. I could see the fear in her body. I just smirked while looking at those two bastards.
“Sophia I–”
“Don't even try to explain anything Rachel,” I cut her off, “I have seen enough.”
“Oh Sophia,” her face changed immediately, “do you know why your husband left you for me?” She said coming closer to me smiling.
“It's because you can't satisfy him in bed. You can't even give him a child. You suck in the bedroom, you suck outside the bedroom. No wonder, your womb is a reflection of how miserable your life is.”
Bam!
A slap landed right at her face.
Bam!
Another slap. And yes another slap.
“You have no right.. to talk to me that way Rachel. After everything I have done for you, you repay me with evil. My mom warned me about you but I paid deaf ears. I should have listened.” I clenched my fist in anger wanting to punch her but my hands only landed midway in the air.
“You have destroyed our friendship and you are no longer worth my anger.”
I turned around while piercing my eyes deep inside her. I looked at Ethan for the very last time before walking out on them and moving upstairs.
