Waking up to an alarm that always disappoints her without ringing, she had set for 6:30am after an exhausting flight to London, but luckily she got up before that time. Kanira woke up as early as she could for her internship on her first day not only that she also had a hangover from yesterday’s goodbye celebration and from her successful internship entry in the biggest company in London. She rushed her tired self to a warm shower, washed her long brown hair with a beautiful scented lavender shampoo. Sat in her mirror looking all puzzled. “I can’t believe it’s my first day at work,” she whispered to herself. A kind and pretty middle class girl finally getting to her dreams. She got to her small closet and looked for a simple but perfect dress to start with on a beautiful new month and first day. Finally, she had got a perfect-fit white dress, cute black heels and a beautiful black coat and packed all her accessories in a medium-size black handbag to get herself ready to go. She decided not to have a solid breakfast but just grab a cup of coffee on her way to the company to help with the hangover. Lucky for her, she was on time. She walked a few blocks away from her apartment in the sidewalks of London hoping to find a taxi, but none passed her way or stopped for her. Feeling all tense as she kept walking sipping on her coffee, she bought it a few blocks away because time was running out on her. As she sipped at the last coffee, an expensive black car pulled up in front of her, a man rolled the window asking,“ Miss, do you need a ride?”" Where She was hesitant in responding, but then remembered she really needed to get to work on time so she smiled and said, “yes kind sir” and she got in the car wore her sit belt and said “Hello, Good morning” the gentle man responded with a warm smile “Good morning to you Miss” his piercing blue eyes that looked at her as he responded took her attention and she didn’t even notice his other question, he tapped her arm as he asked his other question again“ miss are you okay?” feeling all shy she answered“ am sorry what?” he responded“ I asked where are you heading to? So I can know where to drop you off, Kanira responded calmly, “Oh, I am heading to the Shah enterprise. It’s my first day of work as an intern there.” He gave his response with just a nod of his head, then they drove in silence all the way till they reached her destination. “Here we are,” said the gentleman, and Kanira thanked him and said.“ You literally saved me from being late, thanks” he responded“ you’re welcome miss and all the best”, she smiled and walked in the Shah enterprise building entrance. As she checked in at the front desk at 8am she sighed in relief. She was on time. Another lady walked in to check in, kanira smiled and said, “hai”. The lady looked at Kanira, saying, “Oh, hai, are you new here because I am definitely correct that’s a new face, and you’re so pretty?” kanira smiled and said,“ Yes, I am new here, and you look gorgeous," “Well, thank you” responded the lady. “Am kinira by the way, but you can call me nira” she said as she extended her hand to the lady,“ oh, nice to meet you nira am Emelda, but you can call me melda she chuckled” said the lady while extending her hand to nira for a handshake. The staff members seemed nice. Nira spoke in her thoughts as she walked in the corridors of the shah building with Melda, heading to the elevator so they could get to the conference room, which was on the third floor. As it was a Monday, there was going to be a briefing meeting with the board. As Nira walked, all she thought of was the gentle man who gave her a ride to work. She couldn’t forget his piercing blue eyes that looked at her. Nira giggled to herself, Emelda noticed the blushing and asked,“ Mmmm, I wonder what’s on your mind.” nira snapped out and said,“ Oh, it’s nothing she chuckled.” Nira and melda were getting along quite well, just like two best friends who have known each other since high school, there chats were so loud it was as if they have known each other for years. Emelda worked as a data analyst at Shah Enterprise, so it wasn’t her first day. They got to the conference room on time before the high board members. Nira, on the other hand, is all nervous and shy. As she entered the room, the guys stared at her beauty as she walked past them to sit at the end on the table away from other employees working there. As Melda was saying hello to her workmates, she noticed nira sitting alone and did a quick intro to her workmates, saying,“ Guys, meet our new member here at Shah Enterprise Kanira.” They all responded in their top voices. “Hey… welcome nira, we can’t wait to work with you” nira responded back“ hello guys, thank you and I can’t wait either”, Melda then join nira where she sat. These guys look fun," she whispered to herself. The board came, gave out the meeting agenda to everyone present, and before they could begin, the vice president stood to pass an announcement that the CEO wouldn’t be with them at the meeting and, further, he said, “We have a new member with us. Her name is Kinira James, she’s here as an intern and will be working as an assistant to Mr. Shah.” Kanira stood to show her presence to the board and said, “Thank you." The vice president then proceeded to commence the briefing meeting at exactly 8:30am on the new month schedule, and spoke more about reporting late, upon hearing that nira sighed as she remembered her disappointing alarm clock. After five whole hours, the vice president mentioned that’s all for today. There will be no work. Our day ends here. The meeting was adjourned. Everyone stood as the board left the room. The guys were so excited as they left the room for the short, not so busy Monday. Micheal and Thomas, one of the guys, were happy as they had a chance to watch their favorite football team play this afternoon. Nira was so hungry because she only had a cup of coffee for breakfast. She sighed at Melda, saying,“ Good heavens, it’s done,” Melda chuckled and said, “You haven’t seen it yet, you’re lucky the CEO isn’t here because this meeting would have gone for 10 hours, so today is your lucky day miss,” Nira was shocked and said to herself “umm It’s going to be a long ride.” Her tummy rambled as they left the conference room she asked melda if she knew a place near to grab some food real quick, melda nodded in response. A fancy five-star restaurant just a few blocks away from the Shah enterprise, Melda and Nira walked their way there. New to the streets of London, Nira had no idea how to navigate places, but lucky for her, Melda came in handy because it was her hometown. They got to the restaurant and Nira chose the table next to the window because it had a great view, she said to Melda as they sat,“ Let’s not let this amazing view go to waste,” she smiled. Nira couldn’t wait to order. Her hunger was really getting far. They passed along the menu as the waiter approached them. “Hello, ladies, what would you like to have?” he asked Nira replied, “I’ll have this spaghetti with meat balls please, and apple juice,” okay, how about you miss?” He asked Melda replied while focusing her eyes on the menu “I’ll have this vegetable salad I think and some apple juice too”,“ alright then, your order will be ready in 5 minutes he smiled and walked away. Nira got a jar placed on the table to help herself with some water. After that, Melda broke the silence between them and asked, “So tell me where you're from, what’s your hobby, your favorites, just tell me everything?” She smiled. Nira giggled at how curious melda was. Nira responded happily,“ Well, I am from Italy that’s my home. I love to dance, sing and a bit of crochet and my…” she was cut short as the waiter placed their food on the table and they both responded,“ Thank you” at once. Nira couldn’t finish answering and went straight to grab her folk and start eating. Melda chuckled, saying,“ You were really starving girl,” as she grabbed her folks to eat her salad. After eating a number of spoons, Nira then said, “My… favorite color is purple, and I really, really love apple juice” and sipped from her glass. Melda looked at her and nodded her head in response because she had a mouth full of salads. After finishing their food, they asked for their bill. On seeing it, Nira was shocked to see the bill“ OMG, what have I done am on a budget. How the heck will I pay for this? A plate of spaghetti costs this much!” she exclaimed in a low voice to avoid being heard. “ This will cost me my whole monthly savings,” she said, looking at Melda. Melda tried to calm her down by saying, “Don’t worry, I’ll pay for it,” but Nira couldn’t allow that. As they argued, they finally came to an agreement. Nira suggested they split the bill. They laughed together as they walked out of the restaurant. Nira asked, “So Melda, where’s your place?” She replied. “It’s just a few blocks away, I can walk or use a taxi because I left my car at my apartment. It had a flat tire, and I was running late”. “ohh, my apartment is far from here, so I definitely have to get a taxi,” said nira. They waved bye to each other and headed there different ways. Nira reached her apartment so excited about the short day of work she had, so she could take a long nap. She freshened up, wore her purple silk sleeping gown, made herself a shake real quick and laid on her bed facing upwards. Before she knew it, she was thinking about her encounter with the gentle man earlier this morning, and eventually fell into sleep.
