Remembering the accident

Blake, Shelby, and Donnie left I was alone in the house for the first time, the last time I was alone in this house was two years ago for my sixteenth birthday, that was the most trouble I have ever been in.

Two years ago…

“What do you mean your working tomorrow that’s not fair, you do know what tomorrow is don’t you?”

“Yes Nikki we know it’s your birthday we are sorry we can’t call out sick to work, Donnie is going to spend the night at a friend’s house.”

“Can I go to the cabin tomorrow I want to snowboard before the snow melts.”

“Yes you can go to the cabin we will leave the keys to the jeep for you. And Again Nikki we are so sorry we have to work tomorrow we promise next weekend we will celebrate you turning sixteen.”

I went to bed pissed off and hurt so I decided that instead of going to the cabin alone I decided to text a few friends to meet me there for my sweet sixteen snowboarding party. I didn’t wait for my parents to leave for work I got up super early and left for the cabin before the traffic got to bad. I got to the cabin by two and decided to do some snowboarding before Jacob, ( my boyfriend at the time) and his buddies got there for a party, a party that will forever change me. Jacob wanted to make love to me for my birthday present from him. I wanted the same thing at first but then I changed my mind but not until Jacob was a little drunk. Yes there was beer here and no there shouldn’t have been but it was my day I was having a bad day and I wanted it.

Around six is when everybody started to show up it was only supposed to be a total of eight people, but it ended up being at least twenty people and it got loud. The neighbors called the cops and the cops called my parents but the person who showed up was Blake, and he wasn’t very happy when the cops told him where they found me and what they in the fridge. Not only was I totally embarrassed that I was caught with my pants down but I was also sicker than a dog. So when Blake arrived to tell the cops that this was our cabin and that he promises to make sure I was safe and everybody else got home safe as well.

The cops left and it was just me and Blake he was a little disappointed with me but at the same time knew what I was going through and talked with me the whole time I had to reassure him that we did not have s*x and that I was just a little hung over. Blake ended up calling my parents and they said I was grounded and that they would talk more tomorrow when I got home.

Present day…

            I was grounded for awhile then in July Donnie was ‘killed’ and now here I am again sitting in the same cabin that almost changed my life forever now this is the moment that will change my life tomorrow I will be eighteen and a vampire. I was little scared but at least I know I will have my brothers forever. I was in one of the upstairs bedrooms when I heard the door open and close at first I thought it was Blake, or Donnie but I listened carefully and then my heart started fluttering. The sick feeling was back so I knew it was Drake, I went down the stairs and there stood the guy I saw the one that saved my life after the car accident. I was frozen on the stairs just like when I saw the truck coming he must of seen me too because he just stood there afraid to move he never said a word just smiled. It must have been ten minutes before Blake and everybody came back nobody said anything we all just stood there looking at me I couldn’t figure it out. The room was very hot I must have been to warm cause I don’t remember what happened next….

The truck was coming at me going at least forty five miles an hour all I could think about was getting Donnie out of the way but what really happened was me being frozen I couldn’t move out of the way, it hit me then it dragged me it didn’t stop it kept going until we hit something. My head was bleeding, I had a cut above my left eye, my arm was shredded and my leg was pinned under the steering column, I kept looking for my brother but I couldn’t see or hear him. I was told that help was on the way but all I cared about was where Donnie was, that was until I saw him the one person that could stop my heart and make it flutter at the same time. I knew from the moment that I saw him I was going to spend the rest of my life with him, he walked over to me and told me everything will be alright and that the pain will all go away one day. He licked my wounds then gave me his blood to drink, told me we will see each other soon and walked away. I watched as they took the little boy who I thought was Donnie out from between the truck grill and the brick wall, the medics kept saying we need to move or we will lose this one too, they loaded me into the ambulance and we were on our way to the hospital. I was in and out of consciousness when we arrived at the hospital they ran tests and sent me to x-ray, I was put on oxygen and left alone while they called my parents, the guy that saved me came back and told me that I was to forget we met until the day we meet for the first time on my eighteenth birthday. That is when I will be his forever, he gave me a kiss on the lips and I fell asleep.

I woke up to my parents and Blake in my room all I could remember was that Donnie and I were in a really bad car accident and Donnie didn’t make it. I had dreams while I was asleep of me being a vampire princess I know it sounds crazy but that is what I saw and Drake, the vampire that saved me was my prince. I went home from the hospital the next day with not even a scratch at least not anything people can see I will forever have the scars and memories of me and my baby brother in the car accident.

“I thought I told you not to come back inside the house, she wasn’t ready.”

“Yes Blake she was you just didn’t want to see the truth because she is your sister and the last of your siblings to become one of us, you have to remember she is and will be a royal she has royal blood in her veins now.”

“Fine your right how long has she been like this?”

“Uh ten minutes it normally doesn’t take this long for one to turn.”

“True but it is also the day before her birthday, and Drake you’re here, I wasn’t around until after Blake turned eighteen if I was this would have happened.”

“Maybe true loves first kiss will wake her up.”

“Only in fairy tales buddy.”

“Isn’t this a fairy tale I mean look we are all vamps how many people thought vampires were a fairy tale I did so maybe if Drake kisses her she will wake up from whatever or where ever she is.”

“The kid has a point.”

“I’ll kiss her.”

“I’m sure you would love to.”

“Blake!”

“I’m sorry I’m just a little irritated.”

“A little.”

I could hear them bickering I was aware of what was going on I just didn’t want to open my eyes I knew what I was I could hear and smell for miles.

“Oh will all of you shut up, this was not Drake’s fault I walked down the stairs when I heard the door open its not his fault.”

“Nik your awake.”

“Yes and I heard everything, now if all of you are done bickering lets go into the kitchen so we can talk please.”

“Yeah sure.”

“Blake why are you staring at me like that, is something wrong?”

“Before we go into the kitchen come with me to the bathroom I want you to see something.”

“Okay.”

Blake and I walked into the bathroom and before the light was turned on I saw that I was glowing, the light came on and I couldn’t believe my eyes I was gorgeous my hair was shiny, my skin was tanner than normal, and my eyes were steel blue. 

“Blake I thought you said my eyes would be red when I turned.”

“They usually are I don’t know why your eyes are blue, let’s go into the kitchen and talk with the others about this.”

We walked back to the kitchen where everybody else was sitting Blake sat next to Shelby and I sat between Donnie and Drake. Drake took my hand and it felt right like this is where I belonged. I couldn’t help but stare at him. He was just as gorgeous he had black hair, green eyes, and skin just as tan as mine.

“So when I was passed out I relived the accident it was scary the second time around but I saw everything that I thought I missed before. Donnie was saved by Shelby, thank you, I had a dream while I was in the hospital about me and Drake I was a princess and you were a prince, but I was confused wouldn’t Shelby be a princess too. Then I heard the three of you bickering, and I have to agree with Donnie on this if a prince kisses a sleeping princess in a fairy tale and they wake up it might have worked for me too. Do you smell that? It smells delicious.”

“That my dear is blood, and to answer your question Drake’s dad is king my mom who married his dad is queen I am a princess but I am not next in line for throne Drake is because he is blood relative to the king. You are his princess which would make you his queen I will forever be a princess and will only get the throne if something were to happen to Drake.”

“Got it. Hey look it’s midnight I am officially eighteen happy birthday to me.”

“Here my darling the necklace your parents bought you has been blessed you can go out in the sun and not be hurt, we need to see how she feels in the morning before we know for sure if she needs an extra day or two for blood. Which my love are you hungry, lets go feed.”

“On animals not each other.”

“Blake!”

“Donnie would you mind going to your room and put the headphones on that we got you.”

“Sure.”

“Nikki before you two take off we need to talk about something.”

“Sure.”

“I’m only going to say this because I feel if I don’t your brother will blow a gasket. When you and your partner feed off of each other it is like having s*x it is a joyous and wonderful and links you two together. It does lead to s*x and at this stage you are very fertial please don’t’ have a baby before you graduate high school and you two are at the castle.”

“Castle what castle? And I can still get pregnant?”

“Yes you are not dead you are still alive kind of just be careful, Blake sweetie go relax with Donnie I will go with them and make sure everything goes okay.”

“Love you.”

“I know.”
