The Alpha's Small Mate

The Challenge

Skyler's POV

I woke to Gio banging on the door. Linking to him "What man Carly is still sleeping", looking down, seeing her lying with her long hair draped across my stomach with her head on my chest, a site I could get used to. "Your dad is calling wanting an update on your hunt for your mate. What do you want me to tell him?" I can tell he didn't want to wake us up. "I will call him. Can you get Carly's bag from the car please?"

"Yes Alpha", cutting the link. "Carly Baby time to get up." she moves, looking at me. "Good morning Alpha." she says, moving her hair from her face. "What I said last night don't call me alpha. You can call me Skyler or baby, just not alpha. Why dont you go get in the shower. Gio has been bringing your bag up since you left it in the car last night. When you are done, we will head out." At that moment there was a knock on the door. She walked to the door and walked there, giving Gio a. " Good morning Gio." "Here is your bag. I am going to fill up the car while ya get ready." A low growl came from me. My wolf was jealous that she was smiling at him. He bows and leaves fast.

She shuts the door, looking down at the floor. " I am sorry that I angered you," Carly says as she walks to the bathroom. "Carly!" she turns and looks at me She didn't anger me. My wolf doesn't like unmated males by you." "OK" was all she said, shutting the door. "Punk, why do you blame that on me? I trust, mate, she was just being sweet to a pack member, our best friend." Damon said to me . " Well, I cant let her think that I am crazy jealous of her being nice to Gio, or that I can't want her smiling at anyone but me." I picked up my phone, calling my father.

He picks up on the third ring " Hello son. I want an update. Have you found your mate?" he asked the same question every time we talk. "Yes, father, I have found my mate. We are 3.5 hours away from the pack and father, whether you like her or not, she is my mate and will be the Luna of my pack. So all the girls you have been looking at to be my luna you can send them home now." I stated very calmly. "Son, we will cross that bridge when you get here," he says as the water cuts off. "We will be there in about 4 hrs, see you then." Hanging up as Carly comes out.We load up and leave if my father thinks he is going to keep my title or run off my mate he has a rude awaking coming. We pulled into the pack after a very long drive with Gio singing to every song that came on the radio. My father meets us at the door.

"Skyler! You and your mate are in my office. Gio will come too. We have a lot to talk about." He says, walking away. "He seems as scary as the stories" Carly said, gluing herself to my side. "Dont like him scaring her." Damon states, I push him to the back of my mind. But I didnt either, and I want to let him do it again. We walked in and saw my father had three other girls in the room. This was not going to end well for anyone. " Hi child, I am Clint Sliverstone Alpha of the Bloodmoon Pack and,, are you?" my father said, putting his hand out. Carly walked up and put her hand in his. " I am Carly Ann Johnson, daughter of Gamma Dan Johnson of the Clearwater Pack her." she said very proudly, shaking her head.

" So your father is the gamma of the clear water pack?" my father asked like she did not just say that. " Father, you heard her say that. Now that you have met, let's talk about you handing me the title of Alpha and you stepping down." I have been done with this already. All I wanted to do was take my mate to my room. " Boy, I will not hand this pack over until I know that ya'll can do it the way I want." He states coming around the desk standing in front of us making me push Carly behind me. " That was not the deal when I left to find my mate, you said when I found her that you would hand over the title. Now I have found her and you want to change your mind. Gio took her out of here." I said to them both as I felt my wolf coming forward.

" What you going to do about it boy?" Clint asked me, that's all it took for Damon to push me all the way to the back and take over fully. "I Skyler Sliverston challenge Clint Sliverston Alpha of Bloodmoon Pack for the title of Alpha!" Damon declared "Oh son you should not have done that. I am Clint Sliverstone, Alpha of Bloodmoon Pack, except your challenge." With that, we both walked outside to the ring where everyone was at for the daily training.

Carly's POV

After Skyler had Gio take me out the room, I was all in my head. "Does he really want me or just the title?" I asked Tessa, hoping that Damon would have talked to her about it. " Wish I could say. I know that Damon was mad that Clint was talking and acting like that to us, but he didn't say if Skyler felt the same way. Hey why don't you ask Giovannie," Tessa said," Damn, that girl had a good idea.

"Hey Giovannie, can I ask you a question." We were outside looking at what looked like the pack's training area. "Yea whats up?" he said, watching as his pack mates trained. "Does Skyler really want a mate or am I just a way to get his title?" I hated sounding so weak but I need to know before I let my heart fall for him and the mate bond.

" To be honest with you, I really don't know. I know he really wants that title so that he can make life better for our pack. Alpha Clint is not the nicest Alpha, you have to ask Skyler for all that information. But I know that our pack needs a Luna and I hope that you will give us the chance to show you that it really can be a good pack for you." as he finished, Skyler and Alpha. Clint walked into the middle of the crowd challenged

" Skyler has challenged me for the title of Alpha of the pack. You'll know that challenge is death. I want everyone to know that if this challenge ends in my death, it was an honor being the alpha of this pack. The challenge will take place in 30 minutes, giving time for the elderly to arrive. They were on their way here for a visit." Clint says, and something about it makes me feel like he had planned this from the start. Skyler spoke next, " Pack ya'll all know that I have been on the search for my mate. My father told me before I left that when I found her that he would hand down the title of alpha to me. Well, I found her when I was at Clearwater Park. She is there with me and my father has changed his mind because he was unable to choose my mate.

So, yes, I will challenge him for his title. I still hope that he will change his mind and just hand me the title. If not, when the elders arrive we will fight." he said, looking at everyone that was there finding me among the crowd. He moved to me. Taking me by the hand, we walked away from everyone else. " I am sorry, this is not how I planned your coming to the pack would be." He said, looking at me. I could not bring myself to ask the question that I had asked Gio. I don't want to be the reason he was killed. "I can feel that you are holding something in, let me in Carly. I want to be able to keep my mind on the fight if I am thinking about what is wrong with you."

I looked off to the woods, then asked my question, hoping he would not be mad. " Do you want a mate or do you just need me to get the title of Alpha?" I asked scared to know the answer, hoping he said he wanted me as much as he wanted the title of alpha. "Just breath honey I am here with you."Tessa said to me. "I want both." was all he said then turn and walked back to where we had left. I walked to the woods and kept walking, hoping to get rid of the hurt that I felt.

Not sure why I felt hurt, he said he wanted both a mate and the title. It's normal for a son in line to be alpha to want the title. I guess that I wanted him to want me more, which was silly. We had just met a little over 48 hours ago. "Babe is because we built up a happy ever after with our mate full of love that happened at the 1st site where we are a little let down."Tessa tells me. I can feel she is a little hurt too.

I just sit down by a tree and rest. I hope by the time I get back all this mess is over and I can go to my room.

Skyler's POV

Why did she have to ask me that right before I am to fight my father for the title of alpha? "Come, bud, she thinks that she is an end to a means. That you only want her to get the title of alpha. And I cant blame her."Damon said to me with a touch of anger in his voice."Just like Gio, she asked him too." " How do you know she asked him?" "I can talk to other wolves duh." So I walked over to my best friend did "Hey man did Carly talk to you?" he seemed like he didnt want to break her trust.

"Yea she did. She thinks that you don't want her, that you only want the alpha title." "You told her that was not true, right?" He backed away from me with a touch of fear in his eyes. " To be truthful, no I didnt. I told her that was something that she needed to talk to her about, but that we need her to be our Luna and that if she gave us the chance we would show her that we are a good pack."

"Thank you turned truthful with me and talking with her." I was about to walk over to the ring when Gio asked me " Hey, where is Carly?" "She is...." I turned to where I left her. She was not there. Where did she go? I left her right by the tree line. I was about to tell Gio let's go look for her when I saw the elders pulling you. "f*****g great!!!!!!" I growled," Gio go find her while dealing with this shit." He walked to where I pointed to try and find her, while walked towards the elders. "Elder Zander welcome." Shaking his hand.

" What is going on. We were on the way to the halfmoon Park to watch a wedding, when we got a call that you were challenging your father for his title with a mate." I looked at him like he had lost his mind. Then, I told him everything from the start to. present time. Elder Zander was not happy about being lied to. The elders walked to where my father and most of my pack were. " Alpha Clint, is it true that you lied to us to get us here?" Elder Zander asked him point blank.

" Yes, I told a white lie to get ya'll here hoping that he would change his mind when he saw you all. I am not ready to hand my pack over to this pup and his f*****g little mate," my father said through his teeth. "Alpha Clint, remember who you are talking to. Your son is of the age to take over and he has found his mate. So either hand the title over to him or fight him." " I will fight him then." With that, he took off at me. Hitting me before I could shift, knocking me to the ground. I push him off and shift on to my black wolf with a white bolt on my shifted hip. My father was a gray wolf and a little bit smaller. We fought for a good thirty minutes when my father linked me. " Don't worry, I will kill you, then I will take your gifted little mate as my own and have more children with her." He laughed hard while shutting down the link.

That made Damon see red going for my father's neck, sinking my teeth into his neck and his ripping it out. Making my father shift back to his human form, so I shifted back, walking him, bending down, I told him " If you wanted me to end you, all you had to do was ask you to never have bought Carly into this." Elder Zander gets everyone's attention,"Everyone here is your new Alpha. Alpha Skyler Wayne Sliverstone." everyone in the pack took a knee, I felt the power rush through me. "Stand", I said to the crowd. They all stood and started clapping. "Please go back to what you were doing. We will celebrate at the end of the week." I said to them "Yes Alpha". They all said at once and went back to their lives.

"Alpha Skyler, we will be back in two months. At that time we expect to witness the Luna ceremony." Elder Zander said, then all the elders got back in their cat and left. That's when Gio came back, " Man, I don't know where she is. I looked all over the packed house. Do you think she went into the woods?" She has been gone over an hour. "Crap!! I will go look in the woods. If I don't find her in 20 minutes, I will link you to send out the warriors to help find her." I shift and take off. "I can smell her." He took off running. We ran for 10 minutes and found her laid down by a tree trunk.

I could see by her breathing that she was asleep. "Why did she take off?" I shifted back to my human form. "Carly." I called out to her, shaking her gently. She wakes up. "Oh you found me. I got turned around and figured some one had come." She said quietly. I let Gio know I had found her. "Carly, why did you leave the packed house?" She looked off. " I was a little hurt at what you said. I just started walking to clear my head. Realizing that, I set my hopes too high about how it would be when I found my mate. I am sorry to have made you worry." she said, looking down, "If you lead me back to the house, I will unpack you in your room and then maybe you can show me where I will be sleeping. I promise to be a good mate to you and a good Luna to your pack."

" OK, let's go, we will talk on the way. I think you miss understanding what I meant. But 1st, how did you know I am the alpha now?" She laughed. "Well, a challenge only ends with death and if you are here, then you won. I am sorry that you had to kill your father, but I am happy that you are alive."
