Chapter 1
I desperately licked my cracked lips, trying to bring some hydration to them as I lay on the cold stone floor. My body ached in pain with every breath I took.
How did it come to this?
What did I do so wrong?
My body was growing weaker by the day. I couldn't even bring myself to cry.
"What's wrong sister? Do you not like your new room?" Celine said sarcastically.
I turned my head slowly towards the prison door as she placed her hands on the bars. I could barely see her smiling face through my one good eye.
"Don't tell me you forgot your place, sister? Did you have your head in the clouds for the last 3 years?" She sneered down at me.
I tried my best to make my voice come out as I asked, "W..wwhy? Ar..e y..o.u do..in..g this?"
She stood observing her nails acting completely bored before she glanced at me with a smile spread wide on her face. My heartbeat began to speed up, feeling dread coming over me.
"Oh sister. Do you think it was just us? Your husband and his pack sold you…" She said as she let the end of her sentence hang in there before breaking out in laughter.
I stared at the ceiling in shock as I felt my heart being ripped to shreds. I finally felt warm liquid slide down my cheek. I guess I can still cry even after everything they did.
"Wait, don't tell me? Did you actually think they saw you as family?" she said cruelly as she unlocked the cell and walked in.
.She walked up to me and kneeled down near me, slapping my face roughly while snickering.
"Tsk. Do you never learn? Nobody wants anyone like you around! You're nothing but a leech on this family." She shouted at me as she grabbed my face in anger.
She stood up and glared down at me before she ripped me up by my hair. The cuffs on my wrists dung further into my flesh as she pulled me up.
"But be happy, sister, your life is finally being put to some good use! You finally won't be a waste of space," she said with a smirk.
I stared back at her in confusion, too busy trying to keep my focus from the pain.
"Hurry up and stop playing with her Celine. Father said it's time." The voice of my half brother Ryan rang through the cell.
She smiled while she undid the chains and began pulling me by my cuff chain.
The pain would shoot up into my body with every step I was being forced to take.
"Sorry big brother, I just wanted to spend some time alone with her before I can't have fun anymore," she said as she looked at Ryan who was standing by the door to the basement.
I glanced up at Ryan to see the look of disgust on his face as he stared down at me.
"Tsk. Soon our noble blood and magic will be where it rightfully belongs and not in some w***e's daughter," Ryan said through gritted teeth as he opened the door.
As they dragged me through the coven, I could see they were leading me to the altar house. My mind finally realized what they meant.
They were finally going to kill me just like they did my mother.
As that realization set in, I felt bittersweet. On one hand, I would finally be free from this world that hates me, but on the other hand, why did my husband betray me?
I wish I could ask him what was so terrible about me? If he had told me I could have fixed it or if he wanted me to leave, I would have walked away on my own two feet. So why?
My thoughts were interrupted by the altar doors being swung open. They pulled me down the aisle passing all the coven members who stared at me with disgust and hatred in their eyes.
Before I knew it, we had made it to the front of the alter where my father was standing. He glanced at me for a brief second before turning back to the crowd.
"The time for the ritual to begin is now. Thanks to my daughter, our bloodline will finally reclaim our true power! Through the sacrifice of the combined blood of the ancient witch and the strong wolf of the north," my father's voice rang through the alter.
I stood there in complete defeat as he gave his speech until he placed his hand on my belly. That's when I noticed his last sentence: "The combined blood..".
I'm pregnant.
My thoughts whirled around in my head bringing all my memories of the Wolf Pact and the three alphas I spent time with in the north.
My mind landed on the final night I had with them.
It was only once, but it was the sweetest the 3 had ever been with me.
It was what made me believe we were finally one just to wake up in a cell.
I left out a bitter laugh once all the pieces began to fit.
This was all their plan.
My family and they came to a deal, and I was the only one living in a delusion.
My siblings dragged me on top of a cold stone slab. By that point all fight had left me.
They had won.
My entire life was just trying to survive, but for what? Everywhere I went I was hated even when I tried to get them to like me.
The only one who loved me wholly was my mother, and even she was ripped away from me.
This baby would be no different.
It would probably come to hate me too.
Just as I laid there accepting my fate, I felt this tiny little spark in my lower belly. It was tiny, but I could feel a warm energy spread throughout my body.
That spark lit a fire in me.
I will finally fight, not just for myself but for my baby.
