Rex.....three simple letters, that's all! how can that equate to the person he is!! I first met him after falling down some stairs outside my school. I was doing my usual clumsy idiocy. I don't intentionally mean to be that way, it kinda of just happens, anyway I'm upside down, books everywhere, scuffed knees a cracking bump in the centre of my forehead and hands grab my waist and turn me up the correct way. Once my eyes had stopped spinning and I could focus I realise there are a pair of dark brown eyes looking into my boring green ones. "are you okay?" he asked, in my usual , cool way I put up two thumbs and say "swell".....seriously..sometimes,I swear someone takes over just to humiliate me. I scramble to compose myself,grabbing books stuffing them into my bag as I go. Rex coughs to get my attention and points to my backside. I turn to look where he's pointing and realise my skirt has managed to hitch itself to my jacket displaying my granny pants. it wouldn't be so bad but I kinda of also had a half wedgie..as if my embarrassment could get any worse! I straighten myself up apologising for my indecent exposure but when I turn to look at him he's literally doubled over trying to stifle his laughter.it was at that point I decided to make my departure and leg it!. That was the first meeting, I would like to say the next time I saw him was better but I'd be lying!! I was running extremely late as was my bus, as I rounded the corner into the school gate I collided with someone, knocked them flying and with an almighty thump landed on top of the poor soul! hands grabbed me around my waist....I know those hands...I slowly raise my eyes to meet with those beautiful brown ones. his deep voice says " we really must stop meeting like this, although it is rather nice to see less this time" he stifles a laugh. I scramble to my feet and hold out my hand to help him back to his feet. He grabs hold and hoists himself upright grinning, " can we go to the pictures on our next date I'm really quite bruised from the last two encounters". I blush before adding " you really don't want to bother yourself with me, it's not worth the pain" he is about to reply when sindy shouts " for god sake Rex stop playing with Coco the clown and get a move on". I walk off in the opposite direction my head hung with shame. Since my encounter with Rex,Sindy has taken it upon herself to put me in the limelight. I was very good at being invisible I swear if it was an olympic sport I'd win it hands down! but Sindy has made it her life's work to make me as uncomfortable and known to anyone who is in the classroom with us. I'm now known as Coco, even the teacher accidentally called me Coco. Sindy is known for being a bully, never being punished for her mistakes because daddy just writes a cheque and all is forgotten. I wouldn't mind but she's only got good grades because I do her work!! truth be told she's as dumb as a box of frogs! I won't be doing anymore for her that's for sure. I'm sat at a table at the back of the classroom where several other students are using my head as a target for paper balls, I keep my head down wishing for the teacher to walk in so it stops. Sindy starts a chant " Coco,Coco" joined by several others, when a deep voice shouts " Sindy, shut the f**k up" she spins round, mouth open " what did you say to me" he walks up to her almost nose to nose and says again "I said shut the f**k up". Sindy is furious she turns almost puce. her fists balled, down at her sides and stamping her foot she almost growls through gritted teeth " no one speaks to me like that least of all you Rex, I can't believe your standing up for that gutter rat". she points at me scowling before spinning on her heels and running from the room, swiftly followed by her entourage. Rex just sighs and takes his seat, I really can't believe he actually stood up for me but I can't help but think that this has started something. Mr Vaughn walks into the room followed by Sindy who's doing her sweet girl upset routine, Amanda holding her shoulders comforting her. Mr Vaughn Says " Beth, headmasters office now please" Sindy's now grinning smugly. I make my way to the office trying to gather myself. I've never been in any trouble.I've made a point of keeping myself to myself and only trusting two of my closest friends completely. I'm greeted by the headmaster, he's stood outside his door with his arms behind his back rocking back and forth like a policeman. "take a seat in my office Beth. I slip past him and slink into the hard wooden chair. He says " now I know Sindy can be a little...... excitable, but you really should know the rules of the school by now, and I won't tolerate fowl language and I certainly won't tolerate bullying. by tomorrow I want a written apology, and you will have detention every Saturday for a month. do I make myself clear young lady". he clearly isn't interested in my side of the story but then my father hasn't furnished the schools pockets with a red cent. " back to your class quick smart" I really want to say the only bully in the whole school is Sindy but I know it will fall on deaf ears so I just get up and leave,closing the door behind me. I make my way back to the classroom and as I pass Sindy's desk she smiles and sticks out her foot, I trip colliding with the table as I fall, that's the last I remember until I wake up in hospital. my head is pounding, literally throbbing with pain. the nurse hands me a cup of water and asks if I'm alright. I nod and ask for some pain killers to which she obliges. A black eye, and a huge lump on the side of my head, head still throbbing I throw back the covers and swing my legs off the bed. A nurse comes bounding towards me arms outstretched," do not move please" she whispers. " you have a serious concussion, you may fall". " I point to my many bruises and say " I'm kinda used to it" she smiles but her eyes are full of pity. After escorting me to the bathroom I'm tucked back into my bed, it doesn't take long before I'm asleep again. I feel the sun on my face as I start to wake and feel eyes on me, I turn ready to do battle with the nurse again when I'm met with dark brown eyes......those dark brown eyes!! I sit upright a little to fast and instantly regret it. dizziness overwhelms me and I lose my vision for a second. " why are you here" I snap, " well to be honest I'm kinda of missing the bruises" he replies with laughter. I look at him and can't help but smile, "seriously Rex". "ooo she knows my name" he says grinning, " I'm so sorry, honestly I don't know what's going on lately, it's like something's taken over my body and is doing it's best to ruin my life! it isn't intentional I hope you know that".
