THERE WEREN’T ANY AIRCRAFT scheduled for the next few days, so we were given some time off. Jeremy suggested we go sightseeing. He’d been here before, so he took me to his favourite places. One of the temples had heaps of snakes. I saw a massive one, some sort of python, I think. It was kept in a concrete pit and looked big enough to swallow me whole. I’m not scared of snakes. I love holding the pythons at the wildlife park. They’re not at all slimy like some people think. They’re smooth and cool. The scaly skin feels loose against their powerful muscles. I love how their muscles ripple when they move. But the thought of getting up close to that one made my guts ripple.
