Chapter 15 “Check them out.” I gestured to the window. “What are they up to?” A group of six Army troops marched past, each with a lumpy white pillowcase in one hand. A moment later, another small group marched past, also carrying pillowcases. Jeremy looked up from his computer screen. “Must be clean sheet day.” “What? Are they marching to the laundry?” I’d been told to dump our dirty sheets beside my door yesterday, and when we finished our shift, there was a fresh pile of linen on the end of my bed. “Yep. They have to march everywhere.” “I don’t think I’ve marched anywhere since I got to Darwin. Is that only a Darwin thing?” “Nah. It’s more a RAAF thing.
