Chapter 3 Cars lined either side of the dimly lit street, barely allowing room for Bertie to squeeze down the centre. I hoped no one would come from the other direction as I searched for somewhere to pull over. The club car park was packed so I found a parking spot on the next block. It wasn’t the kind of club I’d been to before. From the outside, it resembled a bowls club more than a night club. Smack bang in the middle of a residential area, I would have missed it if I hadn’t used my GPS. It was already starting to get dark. Trees overhung the footpath, and the shadows loomed.
