Chapter 8 A fluttery feeling swept over me as I drove towards Parap. It wasn’t a date, but I was still nervous about seeing Matt. And this dress was the brightest thing I’d ever bought. It was gorgeous, and I loved it, but I was a little shy about wearing such a statement piece. I’d only met these people once or twice, so it was a chance to reinvent myself. Maybe I wouldn’t be “mousy Macie” forever. After gazing adoringly at my new dress again yesterday, I’d realised that I didn’t have any shoes. I had a gorgeous pair of black stilettos stowed safely in the box at the back of the wardrobe. They would look stunning, but there was no way I could dance in them.
