Chapter 23

794 Words
Thanksgiving day. Oli and I made sure to call both Mateo and Demetri. Demetri was with his parents and not the pack that accepted him. His pack would not accept his parents because they are human. As for Mateo, he was enjoying his time with his brother and Mate. I missed them both like crazy. Thanksgiving Dinner with my pack was huge for my pack. The entire pack celebrated together and could be a little overwhelming. I was worried about Oli but found he fit right in with the pack. He was actually quite popular and I loved seeing him enjoy the attention. I was surprised when Alpha Edward asked me and Bryan to sit with him and his family. I sat next to Wyatt and Layla and across from my father and mother. “So Liv Bryan tells me you each have your own pack at the Academy. “ “Yes sir. Oli is part of my pack and there are two others. Mateo is in Missouri and Demetri is in Russia.” “Russia….How close is he to his pack?” I wasn’t really sure where this conversation was going but I had an idea. “He isn’t really close. He wasn’t raised in the pack. He shifted at 15 and it took his parents two years to find a pack that would help.” “And his parents are human?” “Yes, they adopted him.” “hmmmm.” “May I ask why?” “To be honest, this is something you and I will talk about in private. But I think it’s time to bring you into the fold.” “Yes sir.” “Sunday, Alpha Mason and Alpha Samuel will be here. I want you and Bryan in the meeting.” We both nodded, knowing that whatever this was it was serious. Lucas’s POV I had managed to avoid Yara, but dinner was not an option. Her parents were seated at the main table with my family. “How is the wedding planning going?” My father asked, looking at Yara. “Great Alpha! I can’t seem to get Lucas to have much of an opinion, but I have managed.” She said giggling. Get it together, Lucas. She is the future Luna. **Mind link** “Unless you can get back our mate.” “Loki, I have already rejected her and she found her second chance mate.” “But her pull to us would be stronger if you could get her to fall for you.” “How am I supposed to do that? She will be leaving with that guy in a week.” “That gives us a week to figure it out.” ***** “Right honey?” I realized the entire table was looking at me. “I’m sorry I was talking to Loki, what?” “I said you are just as excited about the doves as I am.” “What doves?” I could see in her eyes she was mad. A part of me hoped she would call off the wedding, but I knew something as simple as doves wouldn’t do it. “Doves sounds very expensive.” My dad jumped in to the rescue. “It is our only wedding," she said, looking over at me for support. “I agree maybe you could find something other than doves.” I said with a smile, hoping to piss her off. “Oh ok. I guess I can keep looking.” Her voice sounded so destroyed. How was she going to be a Luna if something so simple destroyed her? “Good.” I know I sounded like a d**k but I didn’t care. This wedding was driving a wedge between us. Or at least I hope it was just the wedding. “Can I come with you when you go to Alpha Edward’s next time, daddy?” My sister said with a big smile. “No, not yet, Hannah.” “Dad, I am the oldest and it’s not fair I am stuck here while you take Lucas everywhere. Just because he has a penis.” “ENOUGH. I said no.” I felt bad for my sister. She was the first born and by right should be the Alpha, but my family has always chosen the first born son. I won’t lie I wasn’t mad, I was an Alpha, but it was a lot of work. “When do we go back to Alpha Edwards’s?” I asked, feeling excitement about seeing Liv again. “Sunday.” I couldn’t help but be a little disappointed. I had to wait to see Liv, but at least Yara was flying out first thing in the morning.
