Chapter 19

As I was getting ready for lunch with Alpha Edwards I had a nagging feeling something was wrong, but I ignored the feeling and made my way with my parents and Oli to the Pack house.

When we entered the dining hall, I saw Alpha Edwards and Luna Lila, Wyatt and Layla, Alpha Mason and Lucas and his girlfriend and Alpha Samuel and his son Owen.

“Please can I punch him in the face.”

“Oli behave.”

“Fine, but if he gives you one wrong look.”

I smiled up at Oli as we made our way to the table.

“Liv, I am so glad you could make it.” Luna Lila said, standing to give me a hug.

As lunch started, I made it a point to not look in the direction of Lucas and his girlfriend.

“Alpha Lucas, I hear you are getting married.” Alpha Samuel said, looking at him.

“Yes sir.” He said, smiling.

“How is the planning going?” Luna Lila asked, looking over at Lucas.

Lucas smiled down at his girlfriend and nodded. “Great and Lucas is going to send me to Paris to find my dress.”

I watched as Lucas almost choked on his food and Alpha Mason’s face turned red with anger. A smile instantly formed on my lips.

“When do you leave?” I asked, acting as if I was really interested, but I really just wanted to see how this was going to play out.

“I booked a ticket for me and my bridesmaids the day after Thanksgiving,” Yara said, with a smile.

“Dang, that ticket must have cost a fortune.” Oli joined in realizing what I was doing.

“It was pricey but it’s my wedding and Lucas said it was OK and there were only 3 tickets. I also have an appointment at Metal Flaque.”

Now it was Luna Lila’s turn to choke before she said, “ Some of those dresses were over 10,000 dollars.”

“Lucas said I could have whatever I wanted for the wedding.”

Seeing that tension was building, I decided I didn’t want to hear anymore. I decided to ask Alpha about Bryan. “Alpha Edward, May I ask permission to have a guest after Thanksgiving?”

Everybody turned and looked at me.

“Who is this guest?” He said, taking a bite of his pasta.

“My boyfriend. His name is Bryan.”

“Boyfriend?” Lucas snapped as he let out a low growl.

“Yeah her boyfriend. They have been together for almost 6 months.” Oli chimed in, enjoying Lucas’s response.

Alpha Edward seemed deep in thought. “The day after Thanksgiving you say.”

“Yes sir.”

“No.” He said as he took another bite of pasta. I heard Lucas snicker and shot him and a look of death and he looked down at his lunch.

I turned back to Alpha Edward and just couldn’t let it go. “With all due respect, Alpha Edward, may I ask why?”

“Because I am already here.” I turned toward the door and there stood Bryan holding a bouquet of orchids, my favorite flowers.

Then it hit me and it was hard. “Mate.”

He smiled and shook his head yes and replied “Mate.”

I jumped from the table and ran to him. I jumped into his arms and wrapped my legs around him. Pressing my lips to his, “Why didn’t you tell me?” I said, pulling away from our kiss.

“I didn’t want to put any pressure on you.”

I kissed him again and this time our kiss started to become intense. Then we heard a cough from behind us.

Bryan slowly lowered me down. He looked over at Alpha Edward and nodded and then he looked over to my parents and smiled. I looked at them and then back to Bryan, only to see him getting on one knee.

“I planned this to be more romantic but talking to you last night I knew I needed to be here and I just couldn’t wait to ask you. Olivia Kincaid, would you do me the honor of being my wife?”

Tears slid down my face. “Yes! Yes! Yes!”

He placed the prettiest ring on my finger. It had a large prince's cut diamond in the middle and the band looked like it was braided around more diamonds and dark green emeralds.

The room burst into cheers and congratulations.

We moved to the table and Bryan and I sat down. I glanced at Lucas because I could feel his gaze. When our eyes met, all I could see was pain. I quickly broke eye contact and looked back at Bryan.

“I am so happy for you honey.” My Mom said.

“Did you know about this?”

“Bryan called Alpha Edward and explained to him he was your mate. He showed up at the house this morning to ask you Dad for your hand in marriage.” She said, as tears fell down her face.

I turned to Bryan. “You did all of that for me?”

“I would do anything for you.”

I placed another kiss on his lips.

“This is so cute!” Lucas’s girlfriend said, clapping her hands. “But what happened last night?”

“Her first mate rejected her.” Bryan said and looked back, to me. “Allowing her to now realize I was her second chance Mate.”

“Oh, I am so sorry about your mate. That is horrible. I’m Yara Alpha Lucas’s fiancé.”

I just smiled. Little did she know she was marrying my mate and a large reason for my rejection. But at that moment I wanted to thank her.

“OH MY GOSH! That ring is amazing. It has to be worth a fortune.” Yara said in shock, with an undertone of jealousy.

Everybody stopped eating and focused on my ring.
