“This is the AIT NEWS HOUR. Breaking News- Fire explosion in Apo, pibakasa, Abuja. The victims were been taken away by the Emergency Team. They are unconscious and receiving treatments in the hospital now” The Female Reporter broadcasted.

“Did they really jump out from the six storey building”? Elle asked her Dad. “Wait... there's a video. The Man's face looks familiar” Elle's Father said to her. “Do you know him”? Elle asked her Dad. “He looks familiar. Apo, Pibakasa, Abuja. Nigeria. I know him. he's my business partner we've met once or twice. I need to go to the hospital, first thing tomorrow morning” Elle's Dad said to her. “Dad... I'll go with you” Elle said to her Dad.

“Can't you find something more important thing to do than to go see someone in the hospital. You're just doing this to avoid going to work. Lazy Man”! Elle's Mum said to her husband. “Mind your words woman”! her husband shouted at her. “What are you going to do? Will you fight or slap me”?! Elle's Mum shouted at her husband.

Elle's Dad made an attempt to slap her but he held back his hands. “At least, I got a job. What about you? You go around gambling. A female gambler! Aren't you ashamed of yourself”?! Her husband asked her. “Yes..I gamble! I make money from it. What about you? Busy doing a business that you can't even gain 50 dollars in a week”! She replied to her husband. “Can you count how many times you've gone to prison”? Her husband asked her. “So what”? She asked her husband.

“Yeah! Am a female gambler. After gambling, I spend all my money on drinks. You caused it. it's your fault”! She said hitting her husband on the chest.

Elle couldn't bear looking at her Mum and Dad fighting. She left the living room. Entered her room and locked herself up. It's not the first time they're having a fight. Since she was Five years old, she always watches her Mum and Dad fight. She always cries when she's alone. She get's bullied in school because her Mom have gone to prison so many times. Not only that, she get's bullied more because of the way her parents always fights disturbing the neighborhood. “When is all this pain gonna stop. Am just Ten years old and am facing all this pains, bullies coming from my peers”? Elle asked herself crying.

“I hate you so much! You turned me to what I didn't expect I'll be”! Elle's Mum said to her husband. “You married me because I had money. Now, that I went bankrupt, you turned your back against me. And blame me for every single mistake you make in Life. Do you Know what you are? You're A Gold Digger”!! Her husband shouted back at her. “So what.. Very soon I'll leave you and Elle. I don't care”! His wife replied to him. “Leave us to where? Prison as usual I guess”! Elle's Dad said to Her and left the house immediately.

Elle's Mum went to the refrigerator, brought out seven bottle of alcohol and forced herself to finish it. As she drank it, she cried at the same time. “Mummy are you drinking again”? Elle asked her Mum. She didn't reply. “Are you leaving again? Are you going to prison again”? Elle asked her Mum. “Go away!.. What do you know?. Go to bed”! Her Mum asked her. Elle went back to her room, cried as usual then fell asleep.

It's Morning already. “Elle wake up. It's time for school” Elle's Dad said to her. “Already”? Elle asked her Dad. “Yes. Stand up let me dress you up” Her Dad said to her. Elle's Dad dressed her up for school. “Are you dressing her for school? Elle don't mind your Dad he's pretending. he's an evil man” Elle's Mum said to her as she came out with her Dad to go out to school. “Are you still drunk. you reek of alcohol. Go and take a hangover”! Elle said to her Mum and left with her Dad. “I love that. Don't let someone talk down at you. Okay”? Elle's Dad said to her. “Yes Dad” Elle said to her Dad giving him a high five.

“She came to school today”? Elle's class mates asked her as they laughed at her. “I don't need your permission to come to school” Elle said as she sat on her seat. “Are you trying to be savage or what”? The oldest bully I'm the ass asked her. She didn't reply. “The daughter of a drunkard and a gambler is tryna be savage”! One of her classmates said. “I have more important things to do than to listen to the crap you guys are saying” Elle said and brought out her book. The oldest bully in the class tried to hit her but the teacher entered the class.

Jade and Sophia came to the hospital to visit their parents,Jade, Jason and Celina. “Celina..”! Jane shouted and hugged her. “You guys are here already”? Celina asked them.“Of course what do you think we'll be doing at home”? Sophia asked Celine. “Where are they”? Jade asked Celine. “They haven't woken up yet. I was told to wait a little.

“Do you mean they haven't woken up from the incident or they are sleeping”? Sophia asked Celine. “I don't know yet. Doctor Chen went home in the mid night. Jane was unconscious in the night. When Doctor Chen comes, am gonna ask him. Am not close with any of the nurses. What about brother John”? Celine asked Jade. “He went to take his kids to school” Sophia replied. “You brought food for them”? Celine asked Sophia because she was carrying three different flasks. “Yes. Of course. That should be the first thing they'll take when they wake up” Jade said laughing.

“Oh...Doctor Chen is here” Celine said pointing at him. “He's coming down from his car” Jade said. “Good morning sir” They greeted bowing down to him. “Did you guys wait for the day to break before coming to the hospital”? Doctor Chen asked Jade and Sophia. “We couldn't” They replied. “Hope our parents are alright”? They asked Doctor Chen. “I need to wear my coat. You guys should wait for some minutes. I'll check on them” Doctor Chen said to them. “Let's seat down and wait” Celine said to them.

“Who is that man wearing a chieftaincy clothe coming here”? Jade asked Celine and Sophia. “It's Uncle Ben. That wicked Man” Sophia said and sighed. “Where is my Brother”!! Uncle Ben shouted at Celine immediately he entered the hospital. His voice made other people waiting to shriek. “ahh ahh what kind of voice is that. Don't you know this is a hospital”? An elderly woman asked him. “So what are you going to sue me to court”? Uncle Ben asked the elderly woman. He tried to cause a fight. “Shut up woman, Shut up”!! He said to the woman and an argument started. Mr.Chen came out from his office immediately. “Take this Man out of this premises now”! Mr.Chen said to the security officers. They did as they were instructed. The two hefty security officers carried him on his arms and dragged him out of the gate of the hospital. “I don't think this our uncle is alright”!Sophia said. “I think so too” Celine and Jade added.

“You can come see your parents now” Doctor Chen said to them. “Finally”?! They asked Jumping into the ward where they were admitted. Mum, Dad and Jason were awake. “Mum..Dad..Jason”!! Celine shouted as tears gushed down from her eyes. They all started crying. “Jason”!! Celine hugged Jason tightly. “What about Jane”? Jane asked. “Doctor Chen, where is Jane”? Jade asked the doctor. “Ohh... she's still in the operational room. I think she'll be awake in few hours. They need to ea..” Doctor Chen couldn't complete what he was saying. “Of course”! Sophia cut in sharply. “I love that”! Doctor Chen said to Sophia leaving the ward.

They talked alot. Jason couldn't say much. They heard a knock on the door. Jade opened the door. “Is that my friend chike”?! Elle's Father asked Jason's Dad. “Nna Nna...is that you”? Jason's Father asked Elle's Dad. They called each other fond names. Names they call themselves when they are working.

“Good Afternoon sir” Elle said to Jason's Dad bowing down her heads. “Good Afternoon my daughter” Jason's Mum and Dad said in unison to Elle. Elle and Jason's eyes met. Elle smiled at him. The food he was eating fell out of his mouth. “Be careful”! Jade said to Jason, because if the food that fell out if his mouth. Jason and Elle's Dad went out to have a talk. Jade's phone rang and she went out to answer the call.

“I brought something for you” Elle said to Jason,bringing out an apple from her school bag. “Do you know me”? Jason asked her. “I don't need to know you, before I'll give you a present” Elle said to Jason. “Ohh...thanks”. Jason said collecting the apple from her.

Jason and Elle went out. “Let me help you” Elle said to Jackson holding him so he won't fall. “Is your head paining you. The bandage looks awful” Elle said to Jason. “I think so too” Jason said to her. “Let's play” Elle said to Jason. “What about throwing a stick to that place. If mine stands that means I won. same to you” Elle said to Jason. “Okay let's play” . Jason mistakenly hits the stick at Elle. “You've injured me on my face” Elle said to Jason. “Sorry. It was a mistake” Jason replied to her. “This is going to leave a scar on my face” Elle said to Jason. “Am so so so sorry” Jason begged her.

“What are you guys doing”?! Jason's Dad shouted at him.“Elle what happened to your face”? Elle's Dad asked her.“Nothing. I was playing, I mistakenly injured my face” Elle lied to her Dad. “That must be painful” He said to her. “It's not really painful thou” Elle said hiding her tears. “Okay. It's time to go home. Say goodbye to Jason” her Dad said to her. “Good bye Jason” Elle said to Jason waving at him. Jason waved back at her confused. “Why did she lie about her face”? Jason asked himself. “Okay let's go inside now” Jason's Dad said to him.

“If I don't see you in this shop tomorrow, Am gonna squize the face of you and Jade. Do you think my shop is a joke?! I don't want this nonsense to repeat ever again!. Besides, am not the one who caused a fire explosion in your house. Okay?!. I want to see you in the shop right now”!! Sophia and Jade's mistress, Mama Ade shouted at Sophia on the phone.

“Okay Ma” Sophia replied very politely. Mama Ade ended the call. “Whatsup why is your face like this”? Celine asked Sophia. “Nothing” Sophia replied hiding her tears. “I know the problem. Your mistress. She's making you guys overwork again. Don't go to the shop. Besides, she has other trainee's there” Celine said to Sophia patting her back.

“Let's just rejoice that Mom,.Dad and Jason we're able to recover. Jane? She's gonna survive too. She's still on the verge of recovering. Okay”? Celine asked Sophia. “Yes”! Sophia replied.

The family we're re-united once again apart from Jane. “Dad where are gonna live now”? Jade asked their Dad. “That's not what to think about now” He replied. “Am really glad that we survived. I can't wait for Jade to wake up” Jason's Mum said smiling earnestly. “Me too. I thought we were gonna die”! Jason said. Celine took the banana she was eating and stuck it into Jason's mouth. “How can you thing something like that”? Celine asked Jason.

Brother John came to the hospital to visit them with his wife who is heavily pregnant with a baby. They were talking about so many things. Doctor Chen knocked on the door. Celine ran to the door and opened it for him. “John I'll like to see you” Dr.Chen said to Brother John.

“I wasn't able to talk about this with their Dad because he just recovered. I don't think you should disclose this with them yet. We've tried our best to treat Jane but am not sure she's gonna survive” Dr.Chen said to Brother John. “Please make me understand. Is she Dead”?! Brother John asked Dr.Chen.in a loud voice.

“Am really sorry. She couldn't survive. She's Dead”! Dr.Chen said to Brother John. Brother John held him in the collar of his shirt. “Bring back my cousin”! Brother John shouted at Dr.Chen.

“Jane Dead”?! Celine shouted when she heard the voice of Brother John and Dr.Chen. Celine barged into the office. “Jane Dead”?! She asked Dr.Chen. Dr.Chen and Brother John looked at her, Brother John was still holding Dr.Chen in his collars.
