Maid of the Moon

“Uncle, I’m bored!” I winged annoyingly “When will I get to meet my baby brother?!” “Soon little pup, soon.” He said in playful tone as he scooped me up and took me to play in the hospital daycare playground. An hour later my uncles beta came rushing in through the playground gate. “Alpha Johnathan sir, Princess Roxan.” He said in a rather official voice as he hastily bowed in our presence. “Jason, what is the issue?” Uncle said worriedly, “Vampires have broken through the borders, sir” “Take them out, we can handle a coven” Uncle replied in his Alpha voice. “Sir, it’s the whole Royal Vampire Alliance, we have lost fifteen thousand soldiers already and have not even made a dent in their ranks!” “See what they want, hold a meeting with the elders and the enemy.” He boomed exerting an aura of authority. “Yes sir, I shall alert them and speak to the elders” he said as he marched away. “Uncle what is going on?” I said confused and anxious. “Nothing my little niece, go and get your daddy and then go with your mother and new brother into hiding,” he said in a calm voice, “Yes uncle,” I said as I ran of towards the elevator , What was happening? Uncle seemed stressed! Were we under attack? I ran as fast as my little legs could go, sprinting towards the royal chambers where I found my mother, father and brother. “Honey, why are you in here?” My father asked “Uncle sent me to get you daddy” I said catching my breath, “Beta Jason came and said something about Vampires” “V.. vampires?” He stuttered “Sweetie are you sure” I nodded and he signalled something to the guards and doctors in the room before shifting and sprinting out. “Mommy, what’s happening?” I whimpered “Nothing much, don’t worry little pup” she whispered But just as she did the door burst open revealing four muscular men covered in blood. Mother screamed as the red eyed men lunged at the four betas of different packs. Suddenly I felt a searing pain shoot through my bones as they cracked into different places. As I screamed everything became blurred and muffled. The last thing I heard was my mother sobbing before I was down on all fours and lunging at each of the vampires with unnatural speed for a wolf, saving the lives of each of the betas. I howled loud and clear alerting everyone that the battle was to stop. And suddenly all yells and growls subsided and all that could be heard was the sobs of my mother and new born brother Ethan. I stood there eyeing the bodies of my victims and standing guard of my family as the betas lbowed and showed their necks in submission. I was confused and scared and yet I felt this unwavering power and strength. I didn’t know what was happening I just knew I had to find my father and uncle. I ran towards the newly renovated pack house, only to find my dad kneeling over his unconscious brother. “N.. no John it’ll be alright.” He sobbed as his eyes went blank He must be mind linking someone “Don’t worry the medic is on his way” he said, tears spilling from his eyes and onto his brother’s shirt. All of a sudden I felt an urge to run to my father and shift. I walked towards him and nudged him for attention. He stopped leaning over uncle and turned to face me and before I knew what was happening he had bowed and presented his neck towards me with his eyes wide and face pale. I felt my head shake and then the excruciating pain shot back through my bones as I let out a sorrowful whine of pain. He stopped bowing as he realised that the wolf was me. His five year old daughter. “R..Rox, you shifted! How?” He said “your only five.” After I shifted I ran over to Uncle, picked up his knife and swiftly sliced my hand. I pressed it against his mouth. Everything went dark.
