Chapter 53When they found Lani and Peter they were fully dressed, and standing in the middle of the heated, outdoor swimming pool, passionately embracing and kissing each other. The undercover officer waved at them and didn't get a response. “You can come out now. They caught the cats,” he yelled. Seconds later, two uniformed guards came to tag along behind the detective.
A few swimmers swam around them. One of them tapped Lani on the shoulder. “I think that guy is talking to you.”
Pulling their lips apart, they swam to the edge and looked around at the small contingent of police gathering near the pool steps. The eighty-two-degree water felt warm and refreshing for late winter. It also calmed Lani's nerves. “Were you talking to us?”
“Yeah. Newlyweds huh?”
