“Kate! Kate!” I felt that something was shaking me, and I opened my eyes.
It was my brother who was trying to get me up.
“Hey, what do you want?” I asked passing my hands over my face.
“Don't you have to go to school?” He asked me, worried.
Then I came to think of it, saw the time on my phone, and ran to the bathroom.
“You better hurry up!” I hear Dylan scream through the bathroom door And then I hear the bedroom door close.
After a few minutes, I went out, got dressed, and ran away.
I had no time for breakfast. I left the house, and got in the car.
“Hi dad, sorry I woke up late.” I said as I fastened my seat belt.
“Don't worry, I also woke up late.” He said as he drank the last sip of his coffee.
I couldn't help but laugh for a second. We were the same. Dylan was more like mom but he also had a bit of dad. My mom and I were polar opposites. Totally different.
After a few minutes we had already arrived.
I got out of the car, said goodbye to my father and walked inside.
“Kate! Kate!” I heard a voice, and turned around, it was Jane yelling at me.
I got closer.
"Hello."
"?Hello, and what? do you like the school?" she asked me.
"Yes, it's cool." I said, taking a look around me.
The school looked comfortable, and it was very big. I feel like I'm going to get lost here.
“I know.” She said excitedly “And how is everything?” she asked.
“I got up late today, but look, I’m on time.”
The gazes of the people around were fixed to a point. A girl with red hair with two girls next to her who didn't seem to matter much, walked through the front door.
“Who is she?” I asked Jane.
“Ah! That's Lexy Ackerman, the most popular girl in school, she has everything she wants when she wants. She is daddy's princess, beautiful, wealthy, rude, b***h, everything.” she says with a disgusted expression.
“Nobody likes her.” she whispers to me.
After a few seconds, a boy enters, he had blonde hair, and he had a perfect smile, you could see his muscles marked to his clothes, and he waved to everyone.
“And who is he?” I asked curious.
“That is Mike Cooper. The most handsome boy in school, according to the fools around here and, Lexy's boyfriend.” She said to me.
“Seriously? Don't tell me this school is movie type.” I told.
She nods in disappointment.
In my previous school we didn’t use labels, we always accepted everyone, and what people did with their lives was worth to us.
“Any girl next to her is the envy of the girls here.” she said with laughter.
“I don't know what's good about him, he's handsome, but you can tell he's conceited.” I told.
Literally, he wouldn't leave his hair alone.
“Girls don't care about that.” she shrugged.
The bell rang, Jane and I said goodbye, and we went to class.
My first class was math. It is not my favorite subject, but it is acceptable.
Excited, I walked into the classroom, and picked a good seat.
After a few minutes, what a surprise, that Mike, entered the room, and sat in the seat next to me. The most handsome boy in school, as Jane says, is in my class. I was not excited of course, it is something normal.
I turned to look at him, and he was seeing his reflection on his phone.
Suddenly he turned to see me, and I returned to the position I had before. I saw him out of the corner of my eye, and he was still looking at me. Do I have something on my face?
What a shame, God. Plus I think he is seeing his own reflexion on his phone.
“Class, this is Kate Robinson, our new classmate.” I got up from my seat, and sat down again.
Suddenly Mike and the boy next to him started laughing. I didn't know if it was from me or something else, but it didn't feel so good. I turned to see them, looked them up and down, and rolled my eyes, I tried not to look at them again. The rest of the class, I focused on paying attention, and doing my work. It was the first day and I had to make a good impression. The other half of the school year I’m sure to fall asleep in class.
Classes are finally over. But now came the worst part of the whole day. Lunch, Although I love to eat, is that you do not know where to sit. Well I just had my food, And to find a seat. I wasn't going to eat in the bathroom, of course.
From a distance I see Jane giving me a signal to sit next to her.
On the other side, the so-called "popular" were seated, a table for themselves is typical.
My eyes went wide when I saw someone very familiar. It was Kevin sitting with his friends. I got up, and walked over to him.
“Hi Kevin. I greeted him as I put my hand on his shoulder.”
“Oh, hi Kate.” he said, not so astonished.
“Why didn't you tell me you went to the same school?” I asked frowning.
“I didn't think it was necessary.” He said it as if it were nothing.
“Well, I think it was necessary.” I said crossing my arms.
“Maybe I had forgotten.” He began to scratch the back of his neck. That was a sign that he was lying, I know very well.
Why hadn't he told me that he went to the same school as me? Or why was he lying this time?
A little puzzled I headed back to my seat, but with that speed, I didn't realize that someone placed their stupid foot so that I could trip. That caused me to bump into something, let's say someone.
I looked up, and ... Oh my god. My heart almost fell out of my mouth. What a shame.
Across from me was Mike Cooper, packed with his food that had been on his tray that I just hit.
“Hey, don't you know where you walk?” he yelled at me in an aggressive tone.
“I know …” “Are you stupid? This was my favorite shirt.” He yelled at me again, cutting off what I was going to say.
I knew once and for all that he didn’t deserve my forgiveness.
“Excuse? You got in my way, and you are the fool.” I yelled back at him while pointing my index finger at him.
“Are you calling me a fool? ridiculous.”
“Ridiculous? It is obvious that you don’t realize …”
“What? Do you think you are superior to me? You're just the new girl who doesn't know where she's walking.” He insulted me again.
“What? Do you look stupid? Or are you?” I yelled.
“I'm not stupid, I'm perfect.” he told me as he ran his fingers through his hair.
“fool.” I yelled at him, as he walked away.
“Hahaha, Perra! …” What? Did I hear wrong? h...he called me a b***h? And in Spanish... this time he passed the line.
I stopped, turned around, walked over to him, and punched him in the eye. That stopped his mocking laughter.
I don’t regret it at all.
Everyone had their eyes on the scene. And Mike had his hands on his eye.
He raised his hand, but then lowered it.
Apparently he had a bit of a gentleman left over after all.
After a few minutes, the bell rang, and everyone went to class. Mike was gone too, without showing how purple his eye had turned. I was in history class reading a book, no trace of Mike, apparently he's dying of embarrassment right now. Ha!
“Aham! Reporting Kate Robinson to the principal's office. I repeat, to the principal's office.”
Or maybe go complain to the principal.
What a great first day. What else could happen?
I walked into the office, and Mike was sitting there.
“Hi principal, why did you want me here?’ I asked, looking at Mike from the corner of my eye.
His eye was very purple, and a little swollen.
“Sit down, Robinson.” he said in a high tone.
That caused me to sit up at once.
“Can you explain why this boy's face is imperfect?” he asked.
“I think it was always like that.” I said with a funny face.
“This is no time for jokes. You saw the cause of that in his beautiful face?” He said pointing to Mike.
I think this principal has problems, maybe mental.
“Okay Mr. principal, in the first place he called me a b***h! ... and in spanish.” I said with an offensive face.
“What? Is it serious? Mr. Cooper? In spanish?” he asked in disgust.
“Director! It's just ... it got away from my mouth” he replied.
“Well, you two are to blame, I'll have to punish you.” He told us.
“What?” We said at the same time.
“Yes, community service. You guys will start tomorrow. I won't have to call your parents if you two do it on time.” He said pointing to the door, and we both left.
We both glared at each other and went in the opposite direction.
Classes ended, and I walked home, it wasn't that far.
“My life is a disaster.” I murmured, as I stood against the door.
“What happened to you, little sister?” Dylan asked, with a mocking face.
“The worst first day of school, Now I will have to do community service.
And worst of all, I'll have to do it with a stupid boy who thinks he's perfect. I hate him.” I told.
“ Now is it disgusting? huh?” he said, embodying an eyebrow.
“Not my type, no way.” I reddened an eyebrow.
“Well, if you need a brother to beat him up, here I am.” he smiled at me and I patted my head.
I just did my usual, and lay back on my bed. I was angry about what had happened today, he was a jerk. I don't know anything about him to say these things but he really was an i***t. I hope those community service hours fly by.
