Chapter twelve - Girlfriend

2436 Words
Jayden's POV: I have a girlfriend. That is something that I never thought could happen. I was afraid that the date wouldn't end well. Luckily, I was wrong. Everything was simple, but Layla liked it. What I have to do now is keep it away from people in school. I don't want them to laugh at her or me. I chose her because I like her. Layla is a great girl. Honestly, I don't know what else to say about her. All the words won't be enough to say how great she is. I have told my parents about the date. Let's say that mom got excited. I know she wants to meet my girlfriend, but we take it slowly. First, I want to make her feel comfortable around me. After all, she has never had a boyfriend before. I have talked with girls and know what it feels like to be close to someone. I have never had a girlfriend before, but I feel good about it. It's not a lie that I am happy. I haven't told Evan yet. At least he will keep his mouth shut. That's why we are best friends. I know that I can trust him. It's not like I have something against the other boys on the team. Let's say that they don't know how to keep a secret. Maybe they don't want to do it. Some people love to spread rumors about others. Up to now, I haven't heard anything about Layla. Even if there were, I wouldn't believe it until she didn't confirm it. I don't think that people will invent something for Layla. She is a good girl and doesn't do anything wrong. I won't lie. Some people still look at her every day at school. If something has happened, she should've told me. We are dating now, and there shouldn't be secrets. It's not like I tell her everything. Maybe it's better if I don't push her. I hope that we'll have a strong relationship. Currently, I am in school. I have practice with the team today. I wanted to invite Layla, but I don't know how the team would react to that. Honestly, I would love to be with her every single minute. The thing is that she might not feel comfortable. It's better if I wait. After all, we have been dating only for a week. I have to be patient. It won't be easy, but I will do everything possible to keep it calm. I am on the field, waiting for the rest of the boys to show up. Some people like to be late. As if this will attract the girls. Honestly, I find this annoying. I'm wasting time waiting for someone to get here. At least Evan is here. I still haven't told him about Layla. I'm not sure if this is the right place for that. I don't want any of the boys to hear our conversation. That is something private. I have nothing to hide. When the right time comes, I will tell people everything. - Man, are you ok? - I want to talk with you, but not here. - Why? Is it about Layla? - he asked, whispering - Yes. We had a date. - What? How was it? - Great. It was simple, but I liked it. Layla, as well. - To understand that now you have a girlfriend. - Yes, I do. I will love it if you keep it a secret for now. - No problem, but why? - I don't know how people will react when they understand that she is dating me. I see how some of them are looking at her. - I heard some people calling her skinny. - So? I don't see anything wrong with that. - I don't know. For some reason, people don't like her, or to say, the team. - Boys, come here! The practice is starting! - the couch shouted - We are coming! - I said My practice was an hour. Later, I walked home for a shower. Sometimes, I don't want to do it, but I sweat a lot. I mean, I run around the field for one hour. It would be strange if this didn't happen. I want to surprise Layla and go to her house. I'm not sure if this is a good idea, but I will do it. The worst that can happen is if she is not at home. I can call her, but then it won't be a surprise. Before I go, I will stop to buy flowers. I know how much she likes them. I might buy a rose for her mom. After all, I want to make a great first impression. Let's hope that her dad will like me. I took my things and went to the flower shop. - Hello. - Hi, again. How can I help you? - I want another bouquet. - Do you know your girl's favorite flower? - Sadly, she doesn't have one. My girlfriend likes them all. - Hard choice. - Yes. What can you offer me? - I like Lupines. They are pretty flowers. - Ok, give me one bouquet of them. Also, I need a rose. - In a bouquet or not? - No, I need only one. - Ok, here you go. I'll make the bouquet. I paid the woman and walked to Layla's house. I knocked on the door, but there was no answer. Next, I tried with the bell. Soon, one woman opened the door. I guess that this is Layla's mom. She looks like her. - Hi, how can I help you? - Hello, miss Martin. Is Layla at home? - No, I'm sorry. My daughter will come home soon. If you want, you can wait for her here. - I would love to. - Let's go into the kitchen. Is there a chance that your name is Jayden? - Yes, it is. Nice to meet you, miss Martin. - I see that Layla has good taste in boys. - I'm glad that you think this way. - Her eye landed on the perfect one. - she said, and I chuckled - Before I forget, this is for you. - Thank you. The rose is pretty. - Layla told me that this is your favorite flower. - It is. - Hey, honey. - Look what I got. - Can I know who gave you this? - It was me. Hello, mister Martin. - Who are you, and why do you give my wife flowers? - Because I am trying to be a good boy. - Do we know each other? - I don't think so. I am Jayden. - It sounds familiar. - Because Layla always talks about him. - miss Martin said - Oh, yeah. Finally, the day came. - It did. Miss Martin, can you put these flowers in the water? - Yes. Are they for Layla? - I decided to buy her something. - Good choice. - She never told me her favorite flower. - She doesn't have one. Mostly, she can't pick between all. - I understood this. I was talking with miss and mister Martin when the front door opened. Soon Layla came into the kitchen. She was surprised to see me here. Well, that was the plan. I wanted to surprise her. - Hey, um, what are you doing here? - Layla. - miss Martin said - It's ok. I came to surprise you. I hope that you don't mind. - No, I didn't expect to see you here. That's it. - If you want, I will go home. - No, no. You can stay here. I will change my clothes and come back. - she said and left - I don't think that she wants me here. - It's not that. She is not used to this. Give her some time. - Layla has all the time that she needs. - Will you stay with us for dinner? - Thanks, but it's better if I go home. Maybe the next time. - Why? I make great pasta. - I don't want to interrupt your dinner. - You have to listen to my mom. Otherwise, she won't leave you in peace. I looked up and saw Layla. I shouldn't be staring at her. Not when her dad is here. The thing is that I can't help it. She looks good in everything. Soon I felt a hand over mine. - Are you ok? - What? - You were checking me out. - Layla said, whispering - I'm sorry. - It's ok. I have to get used to this. - By the way, I left some flowers for you. - Thank you. I guess the blue ones are for me. - Yes. - I suggest you stop being flowers for mom. Otherwise, dad will get jealous. - Very funny. - mister Martin said - No need to stop. At least one man appreciates me. Well, in that case, it is a boy. - What are you trying to say? - That I would love it if I received flowers from you. My daughter received more flowers in a week than I did for five months. - You could've told me. I can't read minds. - I think that I made a mistake. - I said - It's ok. My parents love arguing like that. - Do you want us to do something? - We can watch movies until dinnertime. - I would love that. - If you want, we can only talk. - We'll do what makes you feel comfortable. - I prefer talking to you. - Ok, then. Both of us walked to her room. I have never been here. Honestly, I expected it to be pinker. I mean, she is a girl. Layla sat on the bed, and I sat next to her. We talked about basic things. She told me something about herself. When she was little, she ate ten cupcakes for half an hour. Then her stomach started saying its word. Since then, she is not eating them that much. I would love to kiss her, but I don't know how she would react to that. I know this is still new to her, so I am trying to be patient with her. It's not like this is always working. Sometimes, I want to do what I want. - Jayden, is everything ok? - Yes, why? - Because you look at me a bit weird. - I'm trying to be patient with you, but sometimes I want to do things. - Do them. No one is stopping you. - Are you sure? I don't want to pressure you. - It's ok. As I said, I have to get used to this. - she said, chuckling - This makes me feel better. - Feel free to do whatever you want. I know that you won't hurt me. - I won't do it. I promise. - I know because I trust you. With that, I kissed her. I can't wait anymore. I want to do it whenever I want. It's not like I can't. Maybe not in school. I thought that she would pull away, but no. It's not a lie that I like that. That is my first long kiss with her. I love my girlfriend so much. I will tell her when the right time comes. I don't want to rush. After an hour, her mom called us for dinner. It smelled delicious. - The food looks delicious, miss Martin. - Can I ask where you were all this time? - At home. - I said, and she laughed - You should take lessons from him. - she said to mister Martin - Boy, I think that you have to go home. - No problem, but I will take Layla with me. - Hello, I am here too. - Layla said - We're sorry, honey. Miss Martin put food on our plates. All of us were eating peacefully. I thought that Layla's parents would ask me a lot of questions. Most of the time, they were talking with each other. I looked up to see my girlfriend. This time, she was eating normally. Layla ate everything from her plate. Maybe I was wrong about her. She eats when she is hungry. I do that too. - Layla, did you eat everything? - miss Martin asked - Yes, why? - Because I haven't seen you so hungry. - miss Martin said, chuckling - Well, I am. - Jayden, do you want more? - Thanks, but I am good. - If you want more, you will tell me. - Yes, I will. - I'm going to the bathroom. - Here we go again. - mister Martin said - It's not my business, but is she ok? I have noticed that she doesn't eat much. I know I am a boy, but it looks like she eats less. Is there a problem? - Did she tell you something? - No. That's why I am asking. - Everything is fine. I think that you have to talk with Layla about these things. - I will. Thank you. - Hey, is everything ok? - Layla asked - Everything is fine, you don't have to worry. - Are you sure? - I don't want to offend you, but are you ok? - You are not offending me, and I am fine. Why? - Because you don't eat much and always go to the bathroom after you eat. - Look, if there is a problem, I will tell you. Ok? - Yes, sure. I'm sorry that I asked. - It's ok. Don't worry so much. I'm a big girl. I can take care of myself. - I know. Let's eat now. - I made a dessert. Who wants to try it? - Me. I will help you. - Thank you, sweetie. The rest of the night I spent with Layla and her parents. I'm glad that they liked me. I'm not a bad boy, but I know every parent wants their daughter to date a good guy who will keep her safe. I will do everything possible to do that. Layla is important to me, and I don't want to lose her. Maybe I'm not perfect, but this doesn't mean I won't show her how much I love her. Dear Layla, I hope we won't have problems with our relationship. It took me time to tell her how I felt. I love my girlfriend, and I want her to know it.
