Chapter eighteen - Party and problems

2388 Words
Jayden's POV: I'm so happy that Layla decided to stop hiding. As I have told her many times, she looks great. I know the hate comments will continue, but I hope she won't care. Honestly, I don't appreciate the way Nate is treating her. It's true that no one knows about her problem. That doesn't mean that people have to make fun of her. At least Evan is on her side. Speaking of him, I think he likes Maddie. Maybe I'm wrong, but they always play some games. Mostly with each other. I will be happy if they get together. That way, all of us can go out. I have no problem inviting him when I go with Layla, but I don't want him to feel like a third wheel. Well, I have a game this Friday. I can ask him what is going on during the practice. The boys always want us to go somewhere even if we don't win. It's like a small celebration of the effort. I don't mind, but now I am taken. I want to take Layla with me, but I don't know if she will want to come. Nate will be there. I can warn him, but he won't listen to me. Nate does whatever is on his mind. It's not a bad thing, but sometimes he goes too far. After all, some of the cheerleaders will be there. The team is hooking up with the cheerleaders even if no one made it official. I know it. Everybody knows it. Let's say that this is a public secret. I want Layla to come with us. If she denies it, I will do the same. I don't want to have fun while she is at home. It looks like I am obsessed with her, but I'm not. All I want to do is to be with her. We can't be all the time together, but I like our relationship. I hope that we can keep it for a long time. I don't think I will be able to find another girl like her. It's Wednesday. Two more days left until the weekend. I wish that it was here already. It's not like I have plans. The only thing that I know is that Layla will be part of them. I want to use all the time I have to spend with her. After graduation, things will change. I don't want us to break up, but we probably will go in different ways. Let's hope that this won't be a problem. I don't want to leave her. Layla is my girl, and I will always be by her side. I went to get ready and later for breakfast. Dad was already at the table. Also, there was food on it. I don't see mom anywhere. Is it possible that dad made it? Honestly, I have never seen him in the kitchen cooking. That will be interesting. I sat next to him and started eating. I have to say that the food is not bad at all. - You have to cook more often. - I said - My place is behind the desk. - Once in a while, you can cook for mom. - Don't get used to this. I did it only because your mom is still sleeping. Yesterday, she was tired and went to bed early. - I think you two need to take a day off from work. - We have a lot of work. - I know, but when was the last time you two had done something together? Like going for dinner or watching a movie at home? - Since when do you care about this? - Since I started dating a girl. I understood how hard it was to keep someone happy. - You have other things in your head. - They will never go away. - What do you mean? - I'm afraid that after graduation, this will be the end. - You mean between you and Layla. - Yes. I don't know where my girlfriend will go, but I don't want to leave her. - I will suggest you talk with her. - I don't want to upset her. - It's better if you make this conversation on time. - We'll see. - It's your choice. I hope that you will make the right decision. - Me too. I don't want to lose Layla. - If the love is real, nothing can ruin it. - Dad, I am a teenager. I don't even know which shoes I want to wear today. - You will figure it out. Dad is great, but sometimes, I can't understand what he tries to tell me. After breakfast, I went to school. Layla was standing by her locker as usual. I walked up to her, and she smiled. I wish that it was for me. Well, maybe it is. Who knows? - Good morning. What's that smile? Maybe I have to ask for who. - You. That is the only reason why I am smiling. - I won't lie. I am happy to hear this. - I know. - Hey, um, I wanted to ask you something. - Go on. - There is a party tonight. I got invited. So, do you want to come with me? If not, we can watch movies at home. All I want is to be with you, no matter what we do. - I don't want you to miss the party. - It's not a big deal. - I will come with you. - Are you sure? If you don't feel comfortable, you don't have to come. - No, it's ok. I don't mind. Also, I think it's time for me to try new things. - I like your confidence. - Thank you. The rest of the school day was good. Most of the time, I was with Layla. Now, we don't have to hide. That means I can spend a lot of time with her. It's not like she minds. After all, we are not doing anything. When the last class finished, I went to wait for Layla. I saw Evan with Maddie again. Call me delusional, but I think she has a crush on him. - Hey, guys. Layla and I are going home. Do you want to come with us? - Yes, sure. - Evan said - No, we can't. - Why? - I asked - You owe me a day at the mall. - Maddie - I won't do that. - Can someone tell me what is going on with you two? - We made a bet, and Evan lost it. - What was it? - I tried to guess his Spanish test grade. It was B. If I win, we'll spend the whole afternoon at the mall. Otherwise, we'll play video games. - In that case, I will see you at the party. - Will you go? - Evan asked - Yes. Layla agreed to come with me. - This is interesting. - I'm glad that she is trying to be more open. - Good for her. - You will come tonight, right? - We will. I don't want to miss the drama. - he said, chuckling - Let's go now. I hope that you have money. - Maddie said and grabbed his hand - What? - Bye, Jayden. - Bye, guys. - Sorry that I'm late. - It's ok. - Where are they going? - Evan lost a bet, and now he is going to the mall with her. - If these two don't get together, I don't know who else will do it. - Give them some time. I think the party will do its magic. - I hope so. Both with Layla walked home. Lately, we do this often. There are five hours until the party. We have enough time to do our homework and have a rest. Our schoolwork was ready in two hours. This time we had more work to do than usual. It's not like I am complaining. Some people don't even do it. - What do you want us to do now? - Lay in bed. - No problem. Let's go. - I said and picked her up - What are you doing? - Taking you to bed. We went to my room, and I carefully put her on the bed. Then I laid down and snuggled. After some time, I looked up and saw that she was sleeping. Maybe I can take a nap with her. I love when we do this. It's something simple, but it makes me happy. I woke up after two hours. It was 6:30 pm, and my girlfriend was still sleeping. I won't lie. She sleeps cutely. I kissed her cheek and moved to the pillow next to her. Can't we stay like that the whole day? I would love to do it, but now it's not the time for that. Soon, Layla woke up. - Why are you looking at me like that? - You sleep cute. - Um, thanks. - Do you want us to go out? - I want to snuggle. - Then you ask why I love you so much. - I have never asked, but I love you too. - she said and kissed me After an hour, we went to the party. The house was already full of people. I won't lie that it was a bit loud here. Well, no one like silent parties. Evan and Maddie came to us. It looks like he has spent some money on her. She will be the death of him. - How was the mall? - I asked - Horrible. - No, it was excellent. I can't wait to go again. - Without me. You can take Layla. - Thanks, but shopping is not my thing. - Layla said - I want to do it with you. Please, Evan. - Maddie said and made puppy eyes - I hate you. - Yay! Thank you, my boy. - she said and kissed his cheek - Do you think the same? - I asked, looking at Layla - I do. Let's leave them alone. - We have to. - I will go to the bathroom. If I can find it. - I'll show you. - How do you know where it is? - I have been here before. - I understand. I took Layla to the bathroom. I didn't want to leave her alone. That's why I decided to wait for her. Soon, she came out crying. What happened? I left her for less than five minutes, and someone had already ruined her mood. I grabbed her hand and pulled her for a hug. I will kill whoever did this to her. - Hey, what happened? - Nothing. I slipped and fell. - Please, don't lie to me. - Someone said you must be a big a**whole since you are dating me. - Can I know who this was? - I don't know. I have never seen him before. - It's ok. I don't care about that. - But I do. I hate when people talk like that about you. Maybe it's better if I leave you alone. - Don't you think about it. I will never let you break up with me. - I don't want to ruin your life. - You are not ruining it. Stop thinking so low of yourself. You are perfect the way you are. I love you that way. - But I don't love myself. - This is your mistake. You have to think more positively. - Sometimes, I wonder why you are with me when I act like a crybaby. - I know how hard it is for you to ignore people's comments. - It's like they are chasing me. - We are together. Nothing will stop us. I promise you. - Thank you. I need to hear that. I will try not to get offended so often. - Take your time. - I don't deserve you. - Yes, you do. You deserve to be happy. Even if it's not with me. - But I don't want to be with anyone else. With that, I kissed her. I love this girl. She makes me happy. I know it's hard for her to be herself, but that's why I am with her. I will help her to be the person she wants to be. - If you want, we can go home. - No. I'm good. Is there any food? I'm getting hungry. - Come with me. - Thanks. - It's more junk food, but I think you'll be fine. - Any food is good now. - When was the last time you ate? - At lunch with you. - Oh, yeah. I forgot that we were together. - Do I need to remind you? - No, I'm good. Thanks for coming with me. - You're welcome. - Some people are looking at us. - In that case, we can make a little show. - What do you mean? Layla didn't say anything and kissed me. I won't lie that this surprised me. I don't know where that confidence comes from, but I love it. She needs to go to parties more often. We made out for a while. That is a new side of her that I like. I looked up and saw Evan and Maddie doing the same. I'm sure that they have had a drink. - After all, your wish will come true. - What wish? - Look up. - I see. It was about time. Layla and I stayed at the party until 11 pm. Later, I took her home. I won't lie. I had a great night. My girlfriend is trying everything to ignore people's negative comments, and I am proud of her. These things take time, but I believe in her. Let's hope that no one will ruin her mood on Friday. I want her to come to my game. It will be her first one since we started dating. Honestly, I would take her to each one. The thing is that I don't know if she will want to come. Well, I will be happy if she agrees to that. I hope that we can keep our relationship the way it is.
