Chapter 18 I turned over quickly onto my butt so I could take the weight off my arm as the pain made its way from my elbow to my shoulder. Could my day get any worse? I lifted my arm up and cradled it in my right hand, but it didn’t help. There was a sharp stabbing sensation in my ribs and elbow, and the pain slowly spread down toward my wrist, followed by a creepy kind of numbness. Tears streamed down my face. My sunglasses were gone. They’d crashed to the ground somewhere when I fell. So much for hiding the bruises. I felt panic take hold at the thought that my arm could be broken too, then anger followed. What had I tripped on? Had someone left something out in the walkway? What if my arm was broken?
