Chapter 19 I realised I was staring again and looked away. When I finally looked back, he was looking at the bruises on my face. I could see the concern in his eyes. I winced. I didn’t want him to see the bruises. Didn’t want him to know how I’d gotten them. I didn’t want anyone to know. I didn’t want all the attention and the questions. Heat flushed my cheeks. He opened his mouth, then closed it. “Let’s try that again,” he suggested, and I nodded. This time the zap was mild, and a buzzing, tingly feeling spread throughout my body from where he was touching me.
