FIRST DAY AT ANGLESTOWN
A horse carriage passed through the narrow passage of Anglestown. “How long?” Jake, the Passenger asked as he leaned on the carriage seat. “In a moment sir,” responded the rider of the carriage. Jake was a young man with golden eyes, blonde hair, a lean frame, and tall just enough to be not labelled short. Jake always wore a hat as it made him feel more manly. He carried his cross, and his arrival at Anglestown was to escape from his past run-in with demonic forces. The carriage moved at a swift pace through Anglestown. The villagers were taken aback to see a traveler as it was very rare nowadays and not welcomed by them.                                                       “Who’s that?” asked Moss with a beaming smile on his face. Moss was carrying a bag of groceries at the Teason Groceries shop. He was always known to be a happy-go-lucky guy. He earned his bread and butter by helping people buy their groceries. Moss was seen as an immature man for his antics among the villagers, and nobody knew about the whereabouts of his parents, he was brought up by Mark who found him near the Woods Mansion one day at night. Moss was sure as strong as a man can get. “Just another offering for the voice,” remarked the Shopkeeper of the Teason Groceries with a scorn.                                                       The carriage passed through Anglestown and it had moved through the forest with a narrow passage just enough for one carriage to pass through. As he leaned back to get shut-eye by resting his hat on the top of his face, a sudden jolt of the carriage threw the hat across the carriage. “There you are sir,” said the rider.                                                       Jake picked up his hat and took the dust off it. He took his time and finally  gave a glance at the house he was supposed to stay. The rider was surprised to see how concerned Jake was at making sure he made his hat looked spot clean and did not give a proper look at the house he was going to stay. Jake looked like a man who wanted to break free from something, wouldn’t bother to look at the place he was going to stay as long as he had a roof over his head. "Is this your house Sir?" asked the rider. "It is of one of my friends," replied Jake.                                                       The house was owned by his friend in town, who received this property from the father as an inheritance. The property had not been used by a living being for a very long time, which was evident from the condition of the house. But the house was like any other that we usually see at hill stations. The house was sitting on top of the hill with trees and mist wrapping the house like a blanket.   “A beautiful spot for vacation sir,” expressed the rider of the carriage. “Doesn’t seem like I will have company,” whispered Jake. “Oh, it looks like only you and the Big Mansion Sir,” said the rider who heard Jake whispering “ I don’t know if there is anybody now in that mansion, who would want to live here anyway.” “Not such a bad thing, Isn't it,” replied Jake with a mischievous smile. He looked around and couldn't find the mansion as mentioned by the rider. “Well this place is 15 minutes from the town and if you need anything else, please help yourselves nobody is coming here believe me,” The rider stated in an uneasy tone. “So, shall I take a leave sir or do you need help with anything?” “No, I’m fine thanks,” replied Jake and courteously gave the money to the rider. “How long are you expecting to be here sir? asked the rider. “It all depends on how the Anglestown treats me,” replied Jake with a playful smile. He gently took the cigarette and placed it into his mouth without lighting it. As the rider left Jake was busy looking admiringly at the place which will be his home for some time. The house looked like any typical old-fashioned wooden house just like the ones in Angelstown. He was expecting to have a calm and quiet time for himself. Jake had decided to check the surroundings before he entered the house. There was nothing but trees all around, the only sound was of chirping birds and rustling of the leaves in trees because of the wind. There was no clear passage for travelers but now it got worse after yesterday's rain. It was rumored that there were animals unknown to mankind near the mansion but it only attacked at night, although nobody has seen it except Moss, who seemed to have injured himself once while around the Woods mansion.                                                           After a long inspection Jake finally decided to enter the house but before entering there was a bell kept at the entrance towards the right which was covered with the spider web. Jake kept his luggage consisting of just two old bags near the front door, decided to clear the web, as he was clearing he saw something right across but it was covered in mist. He felt there was something in the mist and so he instantly decided to check it out. Jake came out of the house and followed the mist, and he kept on going as if he knew there was something behind the mist. Jake walked through the muddy passage carefully following the mist, with his forehead furrowed. Once he reached closer, the mist cleared, and Jake saw an Old Mansion breathtakingly simple but hypnotizing.   The Mansion had a huge gate made with fine creativity of the time with angels and devils as grills; the gate itself was so huge. It had a fine and picturesque view with a huge lawn not well maintained now and huge chairs put up in the lawn made in the form of angels and demons, Jake’s mind was now immersed in the Old Mansion. This was the Mansion the rider of the horse carriage mentioned. He couldn’t take his eyes off and desperately wanted to enter as if there was a voice calling him inside although it looked from outside as if no living soul had touched the place for generations.                                                          It was getting dark, and Jake had to set up the house so he half-heartedly decided to visit the mansion later. As he left through the muddy passage, he saw a very old name board kept near the possible entrance of the Mansion, it was covered with dirt. Jake cleared it off with some effort, and it was written as the “WOODS MANSION.” Jake gave a fascinating glimpse once more at the mansion and left hurriedly to his house, keeping in mind the  darkness that is about to fall by evening.   WELCOME TO THE WOODS MANSION…
