Richelle Smith
I'm sitting in my biology class Monday morning when I suddenly hear my name through the intercom. "Can Richelle Smith please come to the principal's office," the principal says and I get red. I'm in so much trouble.
I just went to school Thursday and Friday like I didn't skipped school the other three days and I didn't hear anybody about my disappearing. I thought things turned out well, guess I was wrong. " Richelle," my biology teacher says suddenly, "you heard that?" "Eh yes," I say standing up and walking with my bag towards the door.
With shaking legs and sweaty palms I walk to the principal. "Well hello," she says when I knock and open her door. "Hi," I say nervously not really knowing what to do. "Sit down please," she says pointing to a chair and I sit down. "So I hope you know why you're here," she says. I nod carefully. " Richelle I never thought you would scope this low," she continues. She looks disappointed and I look ashamed down. "I'm sorry," I say, "I had some personal stuff to deal with."
"I'm sorry to hear, but I hope you know that there will be consequences," she says. "Yes," I say quietly. "You'll hear later what it is," the principal says. "Okay," I say. "You can go now," the principal ends the conversation.
I quietly stand up and start making my way out. "Don't let this happen again," she says last minute. I just quickly turn my head to her and nod.
When I stand outside her office the bell rings and within two seconds Katie stands in front of me. "And?" she asks. "Don't know yet," I say. "Why were you so stupid to skip three days?" Katie asks confused, "you can mess up now, it's the end of the year." "I know," I say, "but like I told you, I had some personal stuff to deal with." Katie rolls her eyes and I see that it still pisses her off that I won't tell her where I was. I first said I was sick, but she didn't buy that.
I'm just really glad things between Noah and me are fine again. I don't care if we just stay friends at this point. Our friendship is the best thing that has ever happened to me, and I'm just embracing the moment. It's great to have a friend who doesn't judges. I feel like I can totally be myself with him and it feels amazing. Of course I keep hoping he maybe feels a little more for me, but I'm trying not to focus on it. Whatever happens, happens.
The lunchbreak is, like always, way too short and I sigh annoyed when the bell rings again. "Just a few more hours," Katie says and I take a deep breath. "3 full hours boring classes without you," I correct her. "You'll get through it," Katie says and we both make our way to our classes.
I did make it through the day. Not that I'm enjoying my afternoon, but that's beside the point. I'm at work and I'm bored to death. I look at the clock what time it is. Almost 8 PM, finally. Days at work get longer and longer. Well, it feels like that. I'm standing behind the counter for 4 hours straight and none of the costumes is ever in for a little conversation. They're all think they're some superior race or so. All cranky and surly, and if they say something, which is a miracle on its own, they snub at me. Like hello, I didn't do anything wrong. Not my problem that you've more money than I and that you don't know what to do with it.
I really wish I looked a little longer for jobs. A job in a*****e where people are nice, or a job in a café would've been a lot better.
But I'm doing this for my dad and to meet Noah, so I'll get through it.
" Richelle," my boss says suddenly and snaps in front of my face. "Hello," she says a little annoyed. Don't blame me, I just had better things to think about than sit here and wait for the next costumer. "Sorry," I say. "You're done for today," my boss says, "see you tomorrow at 4." "Thanks," I say and smile slightly, "see you at 4."
I'm home in no time. I feel like this day just began, even though it has already been 8 PM. I've to study for a lot of exams I'll have next week and I've to finish assignments and my own. Besides Noah will arrive in Sydney this night.
I'm almost done with my homework when I hear my phone buzz. I didn't have too many homework today luckily so it just a little over midnight. 'Hi, we're in Sydney,' it says. 'Cool, did you have a nice flight?' I send. 'I slept most of the time...,' he sends. 'Haha I hope you don't snore,' I send. 'I actually don't know if I do, but if I do then sorry to the people sitting beside me,' he sends.
'When do you have your first show?' I ask. 'Friday,' he says. 'You've quite some days to get over your jetlag!' I send. 'And I'll need them all,' he sends. He laughs slightly. 'How's the learning going?' he asks then. 'Good,' I send, 'I've the concentration of a manatee, but I'm getting there.' 'Haha,' he sends. 'Just two more weeks and I'll have a 2 week break,' I send. 'Really? I didn't know that, lucky you,' he sends.
And I can really use a vacation. 2 weeks no school, perfectly. I can't wait until I'm graduated.
