Prologue - The Kingdom
Dorlonia, a Kingdom of riches and technology. A kingdom of Humans, and in hiding of course, Demons. It was a country that was divided into several parts. The Mountainous territory belonged to the tribal people that provided the Nation with most of it's warriors. The Plains belonged mostly to the rural people, such as Hunter's and Gatherer's. And finally the several Cities that divided Dorlonia. All were under the rule of the man, human, I might add that had been ruling Dorlonia for the past 300 years since his Father's death on the battlefield.      King Alexander Elijah Astefan the 1st.     The people considered Alexander to be a just King. After all he had protected the Kingdom against the Demon Nobility, and Royalty since the War had first began 200 years ago. No one truly knew why the war had begun in the first place. Perhaps the Astefan King would know? And yet he refused to speak of it. No one questioned him as they trusted their King.     The War began 200 years ago fought between Dorlonia and a race of people with strange powers, fangs, and a desire to kill and maim. A scholar called them Demons. The name had stuck and now some say that the only reason Dorlonia can hold their ground is because of their technology.     The Demon's were divided into 3 social classes. The Royalty, the Nobility, and the Warriors. The Warriors amounted to up to 75% of the population. They had the least interesting powers, but multiplied fast and were completely loyal to their King. The Nobility were usually made up of Generals, Advisors, and the King's Court. Their powers could sometimes be rare, but generally they were to be considered dangerous and kept away from at all times. And finally the Royalty considering of 7 males. The Morei Brother's. A family that had ruled the Demon race ever since the War had first began.     They were most feared males in all of Dorlonia, but the thing was... No one even knew what they looked like! They supposedly could be anyone, anything, and have any powers they wanted. It wasn't normal unnatural the people would say. No one knew where the Brother's stronghold was. The only place Demons had truly been seen amassed at would be the Front. Where all the major battles in the war were fought. Not like battles weren't fought in other places. There wasn't one place in Dorlonia I could guarantee that hadn't see battle or felt a Demon walk upon it's grounds.      The only thing that was truly and certainly known about the Morei Brother's were their names and ranks. No known lovers, appearances, powers. It was almost as if they were living shadows. Even the mention of the names of these men were looked down upon in Dorlonia. It was considered bad luck to mention one of their names in conversation. Such as walking under a ladder, or spilling salt was considered bad luck.      Demon hierarchy, or as they referred to it Nobility, was divided differently then the Dorlonians. While the Dorlonians only had a King, or Queen, who would rule, and any siblings were considered Princes or Princesses. The Demon Nobility consisted of a High King who made any final decisions, the other 5 brothers were considered High Lords. They helped to govern different regions of the populous, and to help the King made huge decisions. So while the Demon populous and their secret land might be considered a form of a Republic. It truly was a monarchy through and through.      The powers of the brothers were said to increase as their status increased. The youngest would have the least amount of power, and the eldest, namely the High King, would be the most powerful and dangerous. The youngest brother was called Lyle Morei. He was considered by most Dorlonians to be the runt of the pack and the least dangerous. But what they didn't know is the runt was usually the most guarded. Lyle was more than likely protected by his twin brother Lionel Morei the most. It was said that the two were thicker than thieves and if one was present the other was nearby. The next brother was called Lucius Morei not much was known about him, nor did history care much about him. Truth to be told his elder twin brother Lucifer Morei. Got most of the attention and stories told about him. Similar to what regular people might refer to as the Devil, or Satan. Lucifer was considered to be the 2nd most dangerous and by some Dorlonian warriors who had claimed to meet him in the flesh, they referred to him as "The Torturer". While Lucifer was famous for his bloodshed it was his two elder brother's who stole the spotlight. The eldest High Lord was named Laurent Morei. He was the twin to the King himself, and was closet to the High King. The right hand man so to say. And finally the man of the power himself... High King Lyrion Morei      Lyrion was the most deadly and dangerous. To mention his name was considered a sin. You were asking for trouble, and a painful death the superstitious would stay. Most in Dorlonia were superstitious, and they prayed for a day where they no longer had to fear these brother's and their army at the back door of their Kingdom.      Reign was the Capital of Dorlonia and it's most heavily guarded city. Surrounded by a wall of glass that was as hard as diamond it was considered a military fortress. The building's itself were also made of the same diamond-like glass, just colored in order to make everything seem more normal. Located by a river called Erenbia it was a stronghold. Tunnels under the city walls and the Erenbia river made for many different escape routes out of the city.      There was several different social classes in Dorlonia. The Highest being the Royals. At the moment Alexander Astefan was the only living member of the Royal line of Astefan's. Who had been ruling Dorlonia for as long as anyone could remember. The second social class was the Nobles. They were rich members of Astefan's court who adorned themselves with jewels, servants, and the fanciest technology. The third social class was the Warriors. Consisting of mostly tribal people this group was the backbone of Dorlonia. They protected their King and Country out of loyalty and self preservation. The fourth social class was the Merchants. They were the center of trade and creation in the country. While you might think the Merchant class might just stand for people who traded in the country. In Dorlonia you were also considered a member of the Merchant class if you were an artist, or someone else who made goods for the Kingdom. Finally, the lowest class was the Farmers and Paupers. While  in retrospect they might be the most important members of the kingdom they would never amount to anything. While Dorlonia might seem like a Utopia on the outside. On the inside it is darker than it may seem. One woman has served the immortal Astefan for all of her short life, and this is her journey of self discovery
