After spending a few hours out in the woods, Weston and I head back to campus. On the drive back, I get a notification for the group chat.
Elle: My roommates signed me up for BumbleBee…
Cait: Get it, girl!
Merit: You weren’t already on there?
Elle: Uh no, I thought all the dating apps were like Flame…
Merit: What’s wrong with flame? That’s how I meet most of my dates.
Elle: Exactly my point.
Cait: Yeah, ew. Your dating history hasn’t been the greatest. No one has even met Whitney yet.
Me: See any cuties yet?
Elle: Meh. There are a few guys that have potential.
Merit: Don’t scare them away by talking about that one patient you had who s**t all over the room on the way to the bathroom.
Cait: Or the one who projectile vomited at you!
Me: And maybe not the one you walked in on m**********g… XD
Elle: Okay. Don’t talk about clinicals. Got it.
Merit: Other than that, you should be fine.
Elle: What do you think about this one? [picture message]
Me: Ugh. What is with all these guys holding fish in their profile pictures?
Merit: #fishingislife or something sad like that
Cait: Not a fan. Who else are you talking to?
Elle: There isn’t anything wrong with fishing!
Merit: Have you ever gone?
Elle: No…
Cait: It is not a very good time. Lots of waiting around in a boat.
Me: 10/10 don’t recommend. Show us some more options.
I tell Weston about the chat and he laughs out loud. “Are you saying, if I liked fishing you wouldn’t have dated me?”
“There is liking fishing, and there is liking fishing so much you think it should be your profile picture. Would you have wanted to date me if I was knitting in my profile picture?”
“What, like old ladies do?”
“Yeah, exactly my point. Old ladies aren’t the only ones who knit, but you’d still have thought twice about it.”
“Fair enough.”
“Poor Elle, I don’t envy her.”
“Me either, I’m glad we found each other.” He leans in a gives me a short but sweet kiss.
“You know Sophia has study group until later tonight, why don’t you come back to my dorm with me?”
Weston smirks, “I like the sound of that.”
