Chapter 1
Chapter 1
It’s finally coming to the end of my Senior year of school. I actually Turn 18 the day after graduation. I can’t wait, this should be the summer of my life. Afterall I have spent my life as far as I can remember trying to stay invisible to everyone around me. I’ve never fit in anywhere, with any group, not even my family. When I was 8 years old I found out I was adopted, which explained why I wasn’t like anyone in my family. Actually, I knew before it that I wasn’t part of them. My dad stands at 5 foot 9 inches, with a stocky build, sandy brown hair dark brown eyes, and pale skin tone. My mom is 5 feet 0 inches, thin build, blond hair and light blue eyes, but also has pale skin. At an early age I noticed that my jet-black hair and deep green, emerald eyes along with olive tone skin, says it all. Now that I’m considered full grown at 5 foot 9 inch height and curvy build it is even more obvious that I don’t belong to my parents.
I do love my parents though; they are all I know and I know they love me as their own, even if we don’t have much in common. I would prefer to be outside all the time. My favorite thing is to run outside, especially in the woods. My parents never go in the woods and spend little time even outside in our own yard, and would prefer to keep me inside with them. I’m not into sports playing them or watching them, but my dad spends many hours watching any sports he can. Mom is more of the arts and crafts sort of person.
When I was young my parents let me try to play soccer but seemed to get very nervous being in public and not being able to keep me right by them, so I quit. I can still run faster than most of the girls in my class at school. When I was running in the woods last summer I met an old man living in a cabin by himself. The day I met him I freaked out running into someone in the middle of the woods. He knew I was terrified and he quickly told me he was Ralph and that his family didn’t want him around any more so he lived out there alone. He said that if I wouldn’t tell anyone he was there he’d try to do something for me in return. I told him there wasn’t anything I needed, then he said he would teach me self-defense, so I’d never need to worry in the woods again. At first, I wasn’t sure about it, but after a couple days of running and meeting Ralph, I decided to train with him. After this year of training, I’d say I’m most likely the strongest of my class too, but I spend my energy staying invisible to them instead of having to prove it to them.
